About The Malt Shovel
The Malt Shovel, at Barston is a delightful village
pub set in the picturesque Solihull countryside.
Excellent steak. Nice pint of real ale.
Lovely meal as always, love this place!!
Very nice lunch the roast beef was as good as usual we all enjoyed the ourselves.
Superb food as always. An absolutely pleasurable dining experience. Well done!
Most enjoyable evening.
Max and his team are truly amazing the food is exceptionally tasty beautifully presented and worth every penny its the only place to eat x
Lovely menu, great food and prompt service. We always visit here when attending shows at the NEC and it never disappoints.
Another great meal on a special Valentine’s Day.
There was no special additional touches for Valentines Day. Didn’t like the paper bags the chips were put in, then put next to the plate on the table - felt like a chippy, small baskets should be used or individual pots. I commented on this some years ago, but no notice was taken clearly. Meals average, though fish in batter very greasy. Excellent pudding of chocolate fondant. Service was generally good.
Excellent service and beautiful tasty food, the best prawns I have ever had, we really enjoyed our meal and we found it very child friendly too so we will definitely return again
Lovely countryside pub. Food is outstanding and with great service from the whole team it was an enjoyable evening.
Super Valentines lunch. Great menu, perfect atmosphere, attentive service and a friendly welcome from all. Highly recommended and look forward to returning again soon.
We went for a family meal for Sunday lunch and had a great time. The food was delicious and the staff were really friendly.
Excellent food, amazing fish dish... hats off to the chef! We were made to feel very welcome and considering there were 18 of us, it was really easy! Would definitely go again and would recommend to friends and family!
Lovely food and great service.
Great food Good staff
Nice place and friendly service
Food and atmosphere was lovely
Once again a fabulous meal at the Malt Shovel. We always look forward to our annual meal here during Spring Fair and yet again we had a great evening.
We did have to wait 30 minutes before our food came but it was worth the wait.
Starters and desserts were very good but expensive
Excellent food and service as always. Bar was chilly as the door opens straight to the outdoors and there was no fire although it was a cold wet day.
Starter great. Did not expect my veal to be a 'burger' !. A lump of bread with 3 slices of peach does not make a 'bread & butter pudding ! Sorry but not what it once was
First class food and service, as always. Many Thanks to Jan and the team for another lovely evening.
We enjoyed the food and drink but thought the cost for the lunch was high , we've had the same quality closer to home (Kenilworth / Leamington) for less money
