About Rhinefield House Hotel
At Rhinefield House Hotel we delight guests with our traditional afternoon tea. What better place to enjoy this fine tradition than in this historic country house. Gaze out the ceiling high windows in either our Lounge Bar or Grill Room and take in the view whilst savouring each of our carefully prepared pastries, dainty sandwiches and the finest leaf tea, served to perfection.
Beautiful setting, the service was a little slow.
Fantastic food and service was works class
Really disappointing. I had booked a month in advance which I would have thought would have been plenty of time to address this booking sufficiently. However, myself, my 81 year old mother, husband and daughter were put on a table laid up in the corridor! Disgraceful considering the amount paid for afternoon tea, and having staff and customers walk past us every two minutes. Some staff were rude, and we were told it was exceptionally busy that’s why we were in corridor yet I stated I didn’t have a specific day I had to have afternoon tea and if they can’t fit everyone in then people shouldn’t be allowed to book that day. Such a shame as rhinefield is beautiful and we got married there 10 years ago but it has simply declined each and every year. Next time we will go somewhere where we won’t be served in a corridor!
Great friendly service
This tranquil luxurious setting is absolutely perfect for afternoon tea or a meal. The food was superb and the portions just right to enable enjoyment of the selection and savouring the taste of each offering, without feeling overfull at the end. Sitting outside beside the fishpond was perfect. I would definitely return, and definitely recommend it to others.
Following signs, we entered by a side door and found the terrace. But there was nobody to meet us, and no staff in evidence at all. Eventually we walked into a kitchen and found someone, but it was quite some time to get served and seated. Once that minor hiccup was overcome, the whole experience was most enjoyable, and Laura did her very best to make sure it was special.
Lovely setting, attentive and friendly staff and wonderful food.
Great stay once again at this little golden nugget in the New forest. Stayed here 13 years ago with my now husband and notice that the bathrooms definitely need a refurb!! There was a Prom going on the last night we stayed and queued for 25 mins just to get out the driveway. A heads up would have been nice to forward plan. overall a lovely stay and would return.
Beautiful! Although at Limewood, you get another slice of cake to take away with you!
Another lovely afternoon tea at Rhienfield. Beautiful sunny day with superb service, especially from our waiter Tom. He was very attentive and professional even though it was busy and very hot he did not make you feel rushed or any request to much. a wonderful afternoon
The staff seemed quite overwhelmed with the amount of people. It was a warm June Saturday and quite busy. Our wait time for our afternoon tea was minutes but when we asked for some water for the table, we had to wait 30 minutes and remind them a further two times. Staff at the bar were quite rude and swearing a lot, within ear shot of children. Over all a wonderful day out in the new forest but slightly disappointed at how unhelpful and unprofessional the staff were
Had a wonderful afternoon tea with the family. I could not fault anything. Would recommend without hesitation to friend and family. A great afternoon experience.
The initial welcome from the waitress wasn’t all that warm and we asked to be moved to another table as we were sat at probably the most uncomfortable table whilst most others were empty - the request was met with a pretty gnarly look. First we were presented with two glasses of champagne despite the booking being for a regular afternoon tea. The glasses were quickly taken away and a waitress came back ten minutes later to ask for our order. We had to ask what we were supposed to order as it really wasn’t obvious from the menu (we had been brought an online voucher) plus the waitress offered no explanation until we asked. We ordered our tea and coffee which came about ten minutes later. Approximately half an hour later a waitress came over with some food asking if we had ordered the savoury or sweet - we honestly had no idea if this was the one for us as it was still confusing as to what we had ordered from the menu - she went away. After a further 20 minutes (nearly an hour after the initial order) our food arrived with a waiter who was very polite and helpful and explained that cakes were on top, scones were in the middle and that sandwiches were on the bottom. In regard to the quality of the food, to be honest we expected the sandwiches to have been of better quality given we were at Rhinefield house - the bread in particular did not appear to be all that fresh. The scones were the highlight of the food and were delicious, fresh allbeit there wasn’t quite enough cream. The cakes were okay. We heard the staff being asked about 20 times where the toilets were - a simple sign would eliminate this frustrating and repetitive interruption. We have been timeshare owners for more than 25 years and have always been impressed with the quality of Rhinefield however it has not been the case on this occasion.
Lovely afternoon tea in the sunshine yesterday, the order was mixed up slightly but rectified quickly! Service was great considering how busy they were and fresh tea was brought over half way through which we didn't request but was a lovely thoughtful gesture! We were on the 2 for 1 tea offer which was confirmed by the waitress at the table and we were treating the other two we were with -slightly embarrassed! Overall a lovely afternoon enjoyed by all !
Excellent service and food Will do it again My only complaints are the lack of disabled parking spaces and the long trek to the toilets
We had a fantastic Afternoon Tea with champagne on arrival, the Hotel is absolutely stunning. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here, we would highly recommend.
Amazing afternoon tea in beautiful setting
I booked afternoon tea at Rhinefield House Hotel for myself and my husband. I have never been to Rhinefield before and it was a wonderful afternoon. Everything about the afternoon tea was first class. When my son and his wife next come home from Australia, I will bring the whole family to Rhinefield so that they can experience a traditional English Afternoon Tea. I wouldn't take them anywhere else. Maybe someday we will book the private dining as well. Excellent afternoon, thank you so much. I have also put a review on Trip Advisor.
Beautiful country house hotel within the New Forest National Park and close to the local towns. We took our bikes and spent a wonderful couple hours exploring the cycle ways and area. Then on to the Rhinefield House afternoon tea which is a feat in itself (would highly recommend). Dinner in the evening in the beautiful dining room. Food and service were excellent. Lovely, comfortable rooms. Also made use of the health suite and spa. Only stayed for 1 night but felt like a mini break. Would definitely come back again.
It’s always very busy and although the staff are very tentative you can be over looked and it can take a while to be served. Maybe 1 or 2 extra staff on to help out.
Fantastic visiting Rhinefield as always. Very busy so available servers was stretched between many people. Service itself great and made to feel very special and welcome. Cream tea also most enjoyable.
Such a beautiful setting. Afternoon tea was all perfect and staff were incredibly friendly
I booked afternoon tea at Rhinefield House for my mother's birthday for which we had been trying out different places for their afternoon teas. It was just ok for us; the sandwiches were a bit stale as were the scones and cakes were a bit bland. The service was also ok, nothing outstanding. This is a shame as a beautiful setting. More could be done I suggest. Other venues nearby were outstanding, maybe they could take note?
Perfect setting for afternoon tea. Absolutely delicious. All cakes tasted fresh and home baked
We had the promotional Champagne Afternoon Tea. Our first visit and very lovely. We will be returning.
