About Rhinefield House Hotel
At Rhinefield House Hotel we delight guests with our traditional afternoon tea. What better place to enjoy this fine tradition than in this historic country house. Gaze out the ceiling high windows in either our Lounge Bar or Grill Room and take in the view whilst savouring each of our carefully prepared pastries, dainty sandwiches and the finest leaf tea, served to perfection.
My wife and I had afternoon tea at Rhinefield House Hotel, a lovely country house set in the heart of the New Forest. There was a good selection of sandwiches, scones & pastries along with an extensive choice of various leaf teas. A savoury selection was also available for those without a sweet tooth. Service was excellent without being intrusive. We were very lucky to have booked on a hot and sunny September day and were able to enjoy some time after tea in the very pretty grounds.
Service was impeccable.
It was also really easy to book online
A very pleasant experience. Service and staff were excellent
The hostess was accommodating and professional, and the waiters attentive. The teas were of good wuality and the setting comfortable. We look forward to returning.
Lovely hotel and location with amazing food :)
Your staff were delightfull and made our visit extra special
The quality of the food and the views surrounding grounds were second to none, however, the service was a bit slow with us having to regularly get up and go over to the bar to ask for basic things such as asking to re-fill our water jug. This afternoon tea would therefore benefit from more attentive staff working to anticipate the needs of guests and offering a more personal service. Overall, the afternoon tea was enjoyable but there are certainly small areas of improvement for the hotel.
Spent a very present few hours chatting and catching up with old friends in a lovely relaxed environment, nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were all friendly and professional , Will definitely do it again and recommend the venue for its stunning location and atmosphere
I came with a friend for afternoon tea. The scones were very dry and hard. We both left our fruit/plain ones as they weren’t very nice at all. We were disappointed with the selection of teas. It was very small and did not have any fruit ones. The service from the one girl that we saw was good. However we only saw her when taking our order and serving the afternoon tea. There was no checking on us or offering us more tea. We did like walking around the beautiful gardens afterwards though. We both agreed that it wasn’t as good as when we have previously come so we wouldn’t come back.
Great service and lovely afternoon tea
Had a lovely afternoon tea at Rhinefield this week with my Mum and Sister. Service and food was excellent, with relaxing atmosphere.
Lovely afternoon tea
This is now my favourite hotel, it was outstanding and I found my whole experience faultless.
This is the 4th time we have been here; we were seated by a window at the front of the Lounge, unfortunately where the staff are allowed to smoke outside, therefore the drift of the smoke detracted from the enjoyment. A closed window or restricting smoking if people are sitting there would resolve the issue. We will be asking for the water side of the Lounge next time, although we had requested it this time we were 'bumped' in place of a Birthday despite, it turns out, having made our reservation earlier than the Birthday party. The service was excellent and the staff were very accommodating regarding allergies etc. It was especially busy being both a Bank Holiday and School Holidays but still we had a great time with a chance to relax in the afternoon sun with a glass of Champagne. So well done to the team. I would recommend this to anyone.
A very nice afternoon.
Staff were all very helpful and Friendly our afternoon tea was very good and thought went into it placing our afternoon tea in side to avoid the wasps. thank you for a very pleasant afternoon
Very disappointed. After being given a £30 voucher from our friends and their recommendations we use it to enjoy brunch, we couldn’t believe how badly disappointed we were with our brunch experience. The venue is beautiful, especially outside. However, inside the venue is a maze and we struggled to find our way to the lounge where we booked Saturday brunch. We arrived to our table, greeted by a wasp first. It refused to leave our table so had to be escorted out of the window, not by a member of staff, our server just ignored it. I did it. We are regulars when it comes to brunch so my partner ordered the pancakes with fruits and maple syrup and I ordered eggs benedict but with avacado, no sauce. Plus tea and coffee. There was little atmosphere save for the toddler at a nearby table who was clearly as unimpressed as we were only they were more vocal about it. We overlooked the fish pond outside, which was really the best thing about our table position. I noticed the ‘cake of the day’ was still left from the day before and there was a severe lack of attention when it came to the amount of clutter on show to guests and diners, just stuff around which should be cleared away. The pancakes arrived as a single waffle with the fresh fruit and maple syrup. The rest of what we ordered came and was okay but not what you expect from an establishment with such a good recommendation as the one we had. The waffle was revolting, too sweet! The sugar was not mixed properly into the batter so each hard bite resulted in grains of sugar that could be detected on the teeth. It was like eating cubes of sugar. The server asked if we were enjoying our food so we said that the waffle was too sweet to eat (we already said there was no point changing it to pancakes as we wanted to eat together) it was like eating sugar cubes! Again, the eggs and avacado were okay but mine at home have more flavour. There is a 10% service charge which doesn’t seem to be discretionary. This means that the staff really don’t care about you or your experience. We have had better service from little tea rooms. Unbelievably the two breakfast and two hot drinks plus service charge gobbled up almost all of the £30 voucher our friends gave us. We felt the experience was lacking in everything we had hoped for. It’s embarrassing as we have to tell our friends how disappointed we were and we know they will be saddened because they recommend brunch there. Everything we see about this place talks about their afternoon tea offer; how fabulous it is. Partly in hindsight we wondered if we should have tried that. Not sure we will be willing to be disappointed again.
Really nice afternoon tea, great service from helpful staff and a nice walk around gardens in the sunshine
Thumbs up from the party, it is refreshing to go for afternoon tea and be catered for when you have a good allergy! Having been to Limewood recently, this is much better value and the staff are so friendly!
Excellent afternoon tea. Service very attentive. Food lovely. Ambience and setting superb. We were not rushed we were able to sit for as long as we wanted.
Despite booking well in advance the table was not ready when we arrived. We then waited over 30 minutes to be served. The special request added in the booking were not available to the staff. We had to ask for a cup, the milk and the jam for our afternoon tea. When the waiter poured the champagne it spilled on the table. The quality of food was mediocre at best. I booked this as treat for my visit in mum and it was a disappointment.

Afternoon tea , food was lovely , but sadly service let it down , very warm in the bar area , we had to ask to order , then we waited 40 minutes for our tea and then found it almost impossible to attract attention of the very busy staff to ask for more milk and hot water not once were we asked if everything was ok or if they could help , good value on the 2 for 1 offer but would have been disappointed had we paid full price , we had a much better experience at Limewood
Great Afternoon Tea and very good value for money.
