About The Loopy Shrew
Welcome to The Loopy Shrew, we are a family run business who also owns Darwin's Kitchen and Darwin's Townhouse all in the heart of the Shrewsbury.
We are here to make sure all of our customers feel welcome at any time of the day, whether it’s to have a breakfast meeting, quick coffee and cake, after-work drinks or to indulge in an evening of fine wines and great food.
Our menus enable you to have a casual bite to eat with a range of small plates and sharing boards or celebrate a special occasion with our more a la carte main courses; and we offer ‘Host your Roast’ on Sundays alongside our Traditional Roast Beef or Roast Rack of Local Pork.
We look forward to welcoming our regulars, local businesses, friends and family and of course our new neighbours and customers.
Excellent meal and service 5 stars all round
the portions were so small, the seabass was smaller than one of the chips, though the food was tasty it was not a good size at all. also send an email over 24 hours in advance cancelling 2 people but we still has 13 orders which we had to pay for.
Enjoyable evening from start to finish
There was no one to welcome us when we arrived, had to hang around then asked at the bar & then had to ask a waitress. Other than that very enjoyable
Very lovely meal and staff were great
Food was good but nothing special. A little overpriced for pub grub. Kitchen service was slow, but it was quite busy. However, waiting staff were all excellent.
Service very slow felt that if on goupon we were made to wait longer, 3 tables came in after us, and left well before us. One table changed customers twice while we were still waiting. I did not complain but asked how long the sweets would be as we had another engagement, the waitress was lovely said the the manager was very sorry and could we had waited and gave us the 3 drinks for free that had been ordered
Friendly staff with excellent service, food was lovely and excellent value for money. Will definitely be back soon.
Service was extremely poor. We were told our table was not quite ready and if we had a drink at the bar someone would get us. We waited 45 minutes and had to ask you be seated. We then waited another half a hour and had to ask someone to take our order.
Excellent service/food but long wait between courses.
Attended afternoon tea at the Loopy Shrew for a friends birthday treat. Lovely food and nice atmosphere, but it was fairly quite on Thursday afternoon. Service was good.
Went to the Loopy Shrew for a family birthday meal. All 9 of us enjoyed it. The staff were great with the children and were happy to add candles to a couple of desserts🎂.
The wait between courses were too long. The chips on the fish and chips were awful! Some were small and burnt others were much too big and soggy, inedible!! The fish was delicious as was the scampi, staff were friendly but rushed.
Great value for money, lovely atmosphere & very welcoming staff
An excellent evening
My partner I enjoyed our stay here. Room was very clean and comfortable. Atmosphere around the bar was friendly. Food and service in restaurant excellent. Only negative is the distance to the long stay car park. Pity a deal cannot be done with car park across the road. By using a voucher for windscreen allowing cars to be parked longer to accommodate stay.
Great food, service was excellent and will definitely visit again.
The afternoon tea we booked was a special present for myself and my husband. We felt well looked after from the moment we arrived at the restaurant. The food was of excellent quality and really nicely set out in a traditional afternoon tea way. Thank you to all who looked after us we really enjoyed our experience
Great food and great service, will be back.
Lovely dining experience Great food Lovely staff
Great food, very reasonable and good service
Food was delicious.
This was a family visit and we can’t praise this venue too highly. There is a great atmosphere and the staff are exceptional. Helpful and courteous. There was a lovely menu which catered for gluten free and all the food was excellent value. Rooms are nicely furnished and very comfortable with little extras such as toiletries, fluffy towels and tea and coffee. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would recommend the Loopy Shrew.
Excellent food, waiting staff were very pleasant, however service was a little haphazard. One ladies toilet out of order and the remaining is almost impossible to enter and leave for anyone over a size 8
We were a little squashed right by the toilets and under the stairs!
