About The London Carriage Works
The London Carriage Works is a multi award winning restaurant serving modern British dishes complemented by the use of local, fresh and seasonal produce.
The London Carriage Works acquired its name when during external renovation works the original company name became apparent in the stonework. The company was a coach and carriage builders and built around 1866 in a pervading fashion of the day, the Venetian palazzo.
The restaurant is sister to hope street hotel and is open to the public seven days a week, from breakfast to nightcaps, with lunch, afternoon tea, supper, dinner and cocktails in-between. In house we also cater for many varied events from wedding suppers to meetings and corporate dining.
Afternoon Tea is served daily 3-5pm
Very enjoyable afternoon
Delicious food, excellent staff. Highly recommended!
The service we received from Mia was excellent
Disappointed in regards to the money we paid as stated on the advertisement email that we would be having 4 sandwiches each but we only got 3 sandwiches on the Festive Afternoon Tea.
Starters - OK but EXTREMELY small. Main - tiniest meal I’ve ever seen and COLD. Dessert - not a brownie, a torte. Staff happy and pleasant enough but very slow with service, leaving 3 mains for over 4 minutes until the rest arrived and everyone was eating the same. Would NOT recommend.
I love this venue.
Afternoon tea - expected bread for sandwiches to be better, cakes all a little too sweet and sickly. Couldn’t fault the service! Keep carrot cake delicious.
Staff were very attentive. Food was good but very Christmassy (we visited and November and the prix fixé menu was pretty much all Christmas themed, would have been good to have a few more options)
Really enjoyed it! It was a great dining experience
The food taste was amazing, however the portions were slightly small from the prix fix menu, this was fine for this occasion as we weren’t overly hungry. The front of house staff were very friendly and professional giving the restaurant a high end feel.
Excellent food especially the chocolate orange. The service was also very good.
Amazing service, what great, friendly staff you have. The food was incredible too. We’ll definitely be back the next time we visit our favourite city.
We chose from the prix fixe menu and were very disappointed, not only with the food but the service. First of all we ordered the amuse booche which never even arrived. Before our main meal came out we were told the triple cooked chips had run out (bearing in mind it was only 7pm), instead we were told the fries were an adequate replacement. This was untrue and clearly just frozen chips! The pork was ordered for one of the the main meals which required a £5 supplement. This meal was very disappointing as came with no added extras unlike the chicken. We were intending on ordering dessert however decided not to risk experiencing further disappointment. As we were waiting to pay for the bill another couple on a nearby table were complaining about their main meal. Overall the price does not reflect the food and service provided and we regret not requesting a refund.
Great food as always.
I won afternoon tea for two at the London Carriage Works. We enjoyed every part of it, the staff, the food and the restaurant were all amazing. Highly recommended :)
Very friendly and attentive staff and such a lovely, relaxing and warm atmosphere for my graduation meal. The food and wine selection were great and I was really pleased with the complimentary chocolates also wishing myself a happy graduation day. We had my 7 year old daughter with me also who also really enjoyed her food. Will definitely be booking again soon.
Great food. The winter offer was very good value.
Couple of points to raise- no offer to view the wine list or a la carte menu when we were seated at our table. Also (alas) the main course of chicken Kiev was so dry we asked for a jus/gravy to help us digest the food. This duly arrived but didn’t resolve the situation. The restaurant manager alas wasn’t informed of our situation which is a pity as our last visit was first class!!
A lovely meal and a very enjoyable evening
We very much enjoyed our dinner. Even though there was a problem with the notes being sent from the till to the chef, the staff were excellent in sorting it all out and ensuring it did not spoil the evening. Thank you very much!
Came here for a birthday meal with my boyfriend. Throughly enjoyed it!! Food was made and presented to a high quality.
Afternoon tea in classy relaxed surroundings. Our waitress was so lovely (lady with red hair) sorry I didn’t catch her name! She was so attentive and really spoiled us. Food was beautiful as always and the whole Carriage works experience added to our pre Christmas Day out
Had the set menu and each course was really tasty and good value.
Excellent Afternoon tea 5 stars all around.
Service personnel were excellent but understaffed which led to delays. I assume that this was an unusual situation. The staff that were on muster (principally Jack) handled things extremely well.
