About The London Carriage Works
The London Carriage Works is a multi award winning restaurant serving modern British dishes complemented by the use of local, fresh and seasonal produce.
The London Carriage Works acquired its name when during external renovation works the original company name became apparent in the stonework. The company was a coach and carriage builders and built around 1866 in a pervading fashion of the day, the Venetian palazzo.
The restaurant is sister to hope street hotel and is open to the public seven days a week, from breakfast to nightcaps, with lunch, afternoon tea, supper, dinner and cocktails in-between. In house we also cater for many varied events from wedding suppers to meetings and corporate dining.
Afternoon Tea is served daily 3-5pm
Really beautiful place, amazing food, helpful staff & had one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time. Massive recommendation to anyone who will listen!
Dom and Zoe were amazing, and the food was delicious
We enjoyed our afternoon tea experience
Thankyou to all the team for our wonderful evening, as always food and service were second to none. Our favorite restaurant, classy and refined with the best staff. Take care and see you soon,
Fantastic food and service.
Great place for food and drink. Can’t wait to return. Could not fault anything. Thanks for an enjoyable afternoon tea and cider. We will be back !
Fabulous evening. Great ambiance, friendly staff, good choice of delicious food and drink with value for money.
Excellent from start to finish, both service and food. Stunning surroundings and felt totally Covid safe. Thanks for a wonderful evening
This was our first visit to your restaurant. We were both very impressed, with the food, atmosphere, and the quality of the service. In these current times, it so nice to come out and enjoy a meal. We were very impressed with all the covid guidelines, and the service and attitude from the staff was excellent. Lovely little touch, when I explained we were there, as a result of a gift voucher bought for 60th birthday back in march, week before lockdown. The waitress appeared with a small Happy Birthday token that the chef had russled up. Very impressed, meant a lot. Thankyou very much for a lovely, much appreciated afternoon.
A wonderful treat. Thank you so much for looking after us so well and for a delicious breakfast. Felt very safe due to careful distancing, sanitisation and organisation but also warmly welcomed and valued. Thank you.
Lovely atmosphere and the service was great. The food was fine but I was expecting something special so was a little disappointed. The goats curd starter was delicious but everything else we had was average.
Was a bit disappointed with the food to be honest, it was average! Room was lovely and staff very good, especially the young lad at breakfast in Saturday morning
Beautiful place but service did let it down was ask by two different waitresses the same questions when our afternoon tea was brought out part of a sandwich fell onto the floor and was just left there and never received our water not great.
Even though when we arrived the restaurant was empty, it was still warm and inviting. We were lucky enough to get the 3 courses or 2 deal on the prefix menu. There were a few dishes I struggled to choose between. Wasn't dissapointed by my choice. Delicious and filling from start to finish. The lady who seated and served us I think her name was Shannon was lovely and friendly.
Great friendly staff and lovely room
Asked for Sirloin and was served Ribeye as the Sirloin was "£70.00 and comes on a platter". Although this was not made clear when ordering, with the waitress assuming what I wanted rather than clarifying. We had to wait 30 minutes to receive our 1st drink and was given a condescending apology from a disinterested waitress, waiter then another waiter. Throughout the meal we were ignored 4 separate times when clearly our plates were empty and the staff appeared to me more interested in hosting a Wedding Reception rather than to other paying customers. We were informed that we would have "complimentary side of chips" for our inconvenience, however, the uneaten Ribeye steak was not mentioned. A generally terrible experience. More hast, less speed would be an improvement on current below par service. Will not be returning or recommending which is a shame based on previous experiences.
We were delighted with everything last night, the food was excellent, the service was first class & it was a lovely way to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We will be back again for sure, many thanks to all the staff for a fantastic evening.
Lamb and chicken main course were incredible, lamb was cooked to perfection and came with perfect sticky cabbage. Staff where very attentive, although the restaurant was empty at the time of the visit. Would definitely recommend for a culinary experience.
Excellent It was my daughter’s first visit I’m just so sorry that we were the only people in the restaurant Thanks Carriage wirks
Food and service top class. Everything in place for safety and distancing. Staff really friendly, nothing was too much trouble.
Excellent food and service overall making it a most enjoyable dining experience.
Very pleasant lunch, nice to feel almost normal in these covid-19 times, would recommend.
Lovely food excellent service
I would of liked more roast potatoes and vegetables
