About The London Carriage Works
The London Carriage Works is a multi award winning restaurant serving modern British dishes complemented by the use of local, fresh and seasonal produce.
The London Carriage Works acquired its name when during external renovation works the original company name became apparent in the stonework. The company was a coach and carriage builders and built around 1866 in a pervading fashion of the day, the Venetian palazzo.
The restaurant is sister to hope street hotel and is open to the public seven days a week, from breakfast to nightcaps, with lunch, afternoon tea, supper, dinner and cocktails in-between. In house we also cater for many varied events from wedding suppers to meetings and corporate dining.
Afternoon Tea is served daily 3-5pm
Lovely venue and great value for money
We had a lovely lunch which was made better by our lovely waitress, Harriet. The food was excellent and we especially loved the personal touches like the happy birthday chocolates. I will say though that when the men took over the service went downhill
Have stayed numerous times. Love it.
Enjoyed the dinning table a good plenty of room .
We were a large party - 10 plus a toddler - and the staff effortlessly catered for all of us. A very pleasant experience. Good vegetarian choices.
Service was brilliant.
Food Amazing, Service Great, overall very pleased. Well go again. Thank you.
The food was ok - although the plates for the chateaubriand were not warm/hot but apart from this the food was ok. Trouble is - ate in Art School week before which is at a different level both service, food and price lol. LCW was a pleasant evening in all respects and a nice surprise touch “the low key happy birthday chocy truffles” after the meal. If there’s been sparklers n singing waiters idve died of embarrassment lol
Excellent dining experience, great service and food.
We booked a table to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary - fabulous and friendly service throughout the whole evening and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend
To be able to get a glass of really fine wine and not have to buy a bottle was a brilliant innovation, full marks.
First impressions staff seemed attentive, we asked our choice of waters when we sat down. But this didn’t arrive and we were then reasked after our starters were served. Staff were able to resolve quickly and smoothly an order of the wrong glass of wine. However given the glasses were in excess of £20 per glass, it would be better to bring the bottle and fill the glass at the table. Making the order feel better and also demonstrate that it is the correct wine. The waiting staff didn’t really know the menu and were unable to describe how the dishes were served, instead listing the ingredients, they had to go and find out. Similarly they also didn’t know what the days selection of sorbets and ice cream were available and had to make enquiries. As with the water, the tea that was ordered did not appear. The food was ok, and nicely presented, although the seasoning was unbalanced.
A lovely afternoon tea experience, beautiful surroundings and staff were wonderful.
Excellent food. Found the recommended wine for each item of food very helpful.
Dinner was very good. Lovely food and service. Buffet breakfast options were a little sparce. Could have had more options. Flat white coffee wasn’t very strong at all and hollandaise sauce didn’t have much flavour.
Gorgeous setting, delicious food and fantastic service from start to finish. Aisy was lovely and went the extra mile to make our night special. Thanks for a great night.
Food was delicious, service staff very attentive. A very pleasant evening was had.
Will be back !! My mum said she would love to come for lunch sometime soon.
Our waitress aisey was fantastic as was the food
Good food and service. Some errors with drinks but nothing major. A really nice night
Excellent food, good value and very nice staff. Thanks!
Lovely restaurant. Beautiful surroundings and low key but attentive service. Accomodated diner with demanding diatery needs. A very enjoyable dining experience. Will visit again.
Great food and wine. The meal was a perfect end to our son's graduation.
Very disappointed with my main course, a tiny strip of badly cooked duck. It was no more than 12mm wide with soggy skin and served with the same potatoes as my starter had been served with. very poor.
A really delightful celebration following graduation at uni of Liverpool. This restaurant NEVER fails to deliver. Thanks.
