About The London Carriage Works
The London Carriage Works is a multi award winning restaurant serving modern British dishes complemented by the use of local, fresh and seasonal produce.
The London Carriage Works acquired its name when during external renovation works the original company name became apparent in the stonework. The company was a coach and carriage builders and built around 1866 in a pervading fashion of the day, the Venetian palazzo.
The restaurant is sister to hope street hotel and is open to the public seven days a week, from breakfast to nightcaps, with lunch, afternoon tea, supper, dinner and cocktails in-between. In house we also cater for many varied events from wedding suppers to meetings and corporate dining.
Afternoon Tea is served daily 3-5pm
Our visit was a stay & dine package (voucher) a gift from family & when checking out 10% gratuity was added to 'food content' of deal. I was disappointed at this because I think an already paid gift package should be inclusive. A gratuity had already been included & paid for extras we had in restaurant. However the receptionist did remove the additional cost when requested.
Great venue lovely staff not just in restaurant but hotel overall. We love this hotel.
Had an amazing memorable evening Really fantastic thanks
Although food was excellent, menu is extremely limited for price.
A wonderful evening celebrating our son’s 21st! Everything was perfect, from the detail of the exsquisite menu to the impeccable service! Would highly recommend for special occasions! Thank you!
Good very good. Our waitress very attentive and professional. Pass on our thanks. Very pleased with the service.
The pistachio moose was more like a panacota and had very little flavour and I would have preferred fresh strawberries with it Otherwise meal was excellent
We had a lovely theatre over night break. Definitely recommend it
We were very pleased with all the interactions we had with staff at TLCW. All were genuinely very pleasant in their approach and very helpful.
Very friendly, professional staff. Very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. The afternoon tea was really lovely.
We loved the design of a simple room with an area divided by glasswork. The staff were very friendly and the food was lovely.
Excellent all round - lovely venue design, spacious yet calm, friendly service that was attentive without crowding, beautifully presented food that tasted fantastic. Would definitely come here again.
We had the pre-concert menu. When the prawn starter arrived we were SHOCKED by how small it was. The lamb main course was of reasonable size as was the hazelnut and orange moose. All tasty. Overall the experience was good.
Excellent and personalised service! The waiters were absolutely outstanding and very friendly but not overfacing when trying to have a very rare night out with my husband! Great food! A wonderful start to a fabulous evening! Thank you!! Wont be leaving it as long to visit again!
Had booked special Monday meal deal which included free bottle of wine. This was not offered until prompted to check. Others in restaurant were having same menu but none got free wine. some were in same venue after meal and recognised us and asked us about our meal - this is when we discovered this. The food was excellent, but very, very small portions on the main course. I always feel it's wrong not to offer vegetables as standard and was not happy to see additional charges if you wanted vegetables. Our waitress was lovely, attentive and went above and beyond. It was really special when she brought the decorated plate saying happy birthday with chocs. We'd only mentioned in passing it was a birthday. I've been many times to the Carriageworks and on the whole love it. Just a few niggles. But you can't fault the food and service.
Lovely food, lovely staff, only gave half for atmosphere because we went on bank holiday Monday evening when it was empty!
Value for money a four. Would be a five if there was more sandwiches. There was plenty of cakes and they were quite filling.
Good food in a good atmosphere. Service needs to be improved but overall always a nice experience.
Delightful and helpful staff. Delicious food, beautifully presented. We appreciated the effort to source locally and to offer vegetarian and vegan options. A great evening. Thank you.
Excellent Food. Brilliant attentive service. Extremely flexible for catering to groups .
Excellent food accompanied by attentive service. The wine list provided a good selection at reasonable prices. The noise from the bar was sometimes intrusive.
We have been dining at the London Carriage Works for many years now. We keep returning because we love it so much. The service is very good. The food is delicious and never disappoints. We meet about every 6 months, so always have plenty to talk about. The staff never hurry us. We will continue to return as there aren't many restaurants that we enjoy as much as the Carriage Works. Thank you.
Our first visit. Very enjoyable meal. Would certainly return.
Lovely food and nice atmosphere on a early Friday evening. Great food and service!
