About The London Carriage Works
The London Carriage Works is a multi award winning restaurant serving modern British dishes complemented by the use of local, fresh and seasonal produce.
The London Carriage Works acquired its name when during external renovation works the original company name became apparent in the stonework. The company was a coach and carriage builders and built around 1866 in a pervading fashion of the day, the Venetian palazzo.
The restaurant is sister to hope street hotel and is open to the public seven days a week, from breakfast to nightcaps, with lunch, afternoon tea, supper, dinner and cocktails in-between. In house we also cater for many varied events from wedding suppers to meetings and corporate dining.
Afternoon Tea is served daily 3-5pm
Apart from the wonderful food and the very polite staff the best thing ? We could actually talk to eachother! We did not need to shout over music and other people! We will be back. Darren
We thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary afternoon tea!
Staff were so professional and well mannered. They are a credit to the restaurant.
Great wait staff and food. Loud.
Had a lovely meal for our son's graduation and we very happy with the food and service thank you .
Good food and service. Popular with people for special occasions
Food was excellent , faultless . However overall experience was let down by poor service. We had booked the Graduation event -fixed price meal however staff seemed unaware of this promotion . Had to ask for the Prosecco on arrival and this was then charged for on the bill . Indeed the whole meal was charged at a’la carte rates . When we pointed this out to the waiter ( Jamie ) he seemed indifferent , a new bill was produced which was as around £20 less but no apology was offered . We found him rather rude . Such a shame as food was so good . Also there was a problem with the booking . A confirmed booking was made about a month ago , however I received an email last Friday informing me We were on a reserve list ! However when I contacted LCW the problem was quickly and very politely resolved by Shanon , who sent a further email confirming our firm reservation . . Mistakes happen in all businesses what’s important is how they are resolved.
My husband and I ate here with our son after his graduation ceremony. We booked the graduation menu which was excellent. There was a great range of choices on offer and we were all very happy with what we ordered. The food quality and presentation was superb and it was absolutely delicious. And our experience was made even more special by the exceptional service. The staff were all so professional whilst being the right level of friendly. The high standard of training was apparent throughout. And the staff didn’t do what a lot of restaurants do which is to collect plates when some people are still eating. For me, that is the worst thing ever - and I commented to my husband how pleased I was to see the staff clearly knew that was a no-no. We were also pleased to have the right amount of space between tables so that we didn’t feel jammed in and could have a decent conversation without feeling the next table were joining in. Our only tiny gripe was that the bill was confusing at the end. We had ordered the set price menu but it all seemed to be itemised separately on the bill so it was difficult to see if that was what we had paid for. Also, I was required to pay a £30 deposit when booking and this was not taken off the bill. When I mentioned it they did it immediately and without question, but if I hadn’t pointed it out we would have been overcharged. It’s a tiny thing but added some confusion to an otherwise perfect experience. We would certainly return to TLCW and look forward to doing so.
Very friendly staff. Food was presented excellently and tasted great. Everyone had a lovely meal.
What a wonderful evening. Food was excellent, staff were so attentive. Overall experience fantastic. No hesitation in recommending to all friends and colleagues.
Amazing food, and great selection. Staff couldn't be more attentive.
Everything was wonderful, the food and the service, thank you for a lovely evening
Unfortunately my son who's graduation we were celebrating did not eat any food, I went to three graduations and meals this week, you were the most expensive and the worst value for money. The waitress who served us was very kind although a bit embarrassed, no atmosphere such a shame it spoilt the day
Unfortunately thee was a very loud member of the public who was dining at the same time, We did however ask the staff to slightly increase the volume on the music which helped slightly. Otherwise food was very nice celebrating my daughters graduation.
We had a lovely graduation lunch at The London Carriage Works. Delicious food and excellent service.
Very disappointed with our experince yesterday, for our daughters graduation. 1. No free drink of fizz for Graduate, not like other bars along Hope street. 2. Boot room far to small, no windows and was made to belive it was a large screen ( not a tv). 3. Unable to understand bar man on shift. 4. Food was far too expensive £8 for 2 large bowls of chips with 12 chips in a stack. Considering its Graduation week in Liverpool not much of a atmophere, not like other bars along hope street. Certainly will not book again
Unfortunately, our room wasn’t ready until 4.20 pm which made it awkward to make the most of our limited time in Liverpool. We had a meal and the veggie sharing platter was delicious and generous. The mains were very small. Fine for me but left my hubby feeling short changed and needing some more calories. The waiter was a delight and did his best to overcome the lack of quinoa on my main selection. Our room was very hot o/n despite having all windows open which led to a rather unsettled nights sleep. The duvet felt like a winter weight! Breakfast was delicious and portions generous. Despite all this we enjoyed out trip to Liverpool and will return to explore further.
Thank you for a lovely Afternoon Tea for myself and all my friends. The service and food were spot on. Thank you.
Overall the meal at the Carriage Works was very good. I had the hazelnut dessert and it was rather firmly set All else was excellent especially the service
nice atmosphere superb service, food very appetising , lovely meal prior totheater visit
Lovely celebration meal
We had an amazing evening at the restaurant the food was absolutely delicious, the service was lovely and the set menu was an added bonus, couldn’t fault it. Will certainly be visiting again!
We had excellent service from Emily who was a little nervous as it was her first day but she was fine and looked after us very well.
As always, excellent all round. The waiter, Dom, was a total credit to London Carriage Works. Excellent service. See you again soon.
Super meal for our anniversary Adjoining table a bit noisy but waiter was very helpful and moved us. Great night great food definitely recommend
