Big group but service was excellent. Food was great and staff were very attentive. Hotel was full and other functions on but you would not have known
The service was excellent especially Daphne and the guy with beard and glasses behind the bar, kept coming to the table being attentive and ensuring all was ok, even bringing drinks back to the table for us from the bar. Was a little bit cold at table where we sat but time of year
Dinner was fine. Breakfast was abysmal. How you can charge £10 each for lukewarm beans, overcooked mushrooms and rubber egg I do not know. Have paid a lot less for a much, much better breakfast. Staff OK but not sufficiently trained. Will not come again
Food was lovely all cooked to perfection, try the lamb shank, but Duck and a certain fish was not avaliable. There was a function going on across the hall and the music was very loud at time distracting us from talking and making the atmosphere of the beautifully designed resurant.
Very quick service considering it as such as large group, the food was delicious!
A lovely restaurant and food but sadly no other customers around! Some publicity may be good and we would recommend this venue to others.
Excellent meal, good sized portions and happy and helpful staff.
We had booked but still waited 45 minutes for a menu, then a further 10 minutes to order our food and even drinks which had not been ordered before. We had asked staff twice about service. It was another 45 minutes until the starters came, 3 of which were cold, this was a total of 2 hours after we had sat down. After that it all went smoothly and the mains and desserts were delicious. The manager apologised and took the cost of the drinks off our bill. However, he stated that there was an issue with their online system causing the delay which doesn’t excuse us waiting so long for menus and every other table was served, with people coming in after us leaving as we had our starters.
An overall poor afternoon tea as the cakes were very dry and tasteless! There was only one lady serving in the restaurant and behind the bar and was clearly rushed off her feet! Bought as a birthday gift for a friend and was very disappointed!
Would have liked more choice on the menu. There seemed to be a heavy influence for lamb and my daughter is vegan so would not choose this restaurant if she were with us. Otherwise the food we ordered was beautiful and would recommend it based on the choice available
We had afternoon tea which was all very nice & lovely & fresh the staff were very helpful & understanding as some of the group was held up in traffic & was late arriving
Great Sunday Lunch, been back a few times with family for cavery. Highly recommended. Lovely atmosphere and decorated to high standard. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
service of food in carvary was very slow took ages for more roast potatoes and veg to arrive and food was not very Warm.starters of prawn cocktail very poor about 10 prawns rest was lettuce
Very enjoyable afternoon Very attentive and welcoming service and the quality of food...and drinks was first class Highly recommended
Just wish there was more STAFF and some home made scones and fresh cream but overall truly nice thank you
It was lovely.
Just recommended to a friend who is joining you next week. I will definately return.
staff were really friendly and helpful great refurnished of hotel definitely go back again
Disappointed with the sandwich fillings , wasnt given a choice , very expensive for what we received , wouldn't consider afternoon tea again . Place beautiful, service was great and friendly surroundings, but very disappointed with afternoon tea .
Nice Venue and friendly staff (although a bit rushed off their feet). The afternoon was below average though: Sandwiches were good but a bit stale. The main issue were the cakes. Every single item on there (macaroons, eclairs, cupcakes, bara brith and scones were clearly bought in and not made by anybody on the premises. If I go to a well established hotel I expect that a scone is baked fresh on the premises and not taken out a package and put on a plate and served stale. Served with clotted cream and real jam would be nice, but it was synthetic cream and a super sweet jam substitute. The cupcakes just had the outside wrapper removed and places on top of the tear. Overall not a bad afternoon tea, but nothing to rave about and if I want something shop bought on my plate I dont need to spend extra money on going out - I just buy it myself.
Would definitely recommend. Plenty of sandwiches and cakes. Lovely.
Service was really unacceptable- we waited 1hr for our starter and the waiting staff seemed to gave no idea about what to do or what to prioritise. A shame as the food was good.
I have emailed your management team directly. Yet again, too slow to reply
Staff was wonderful, afternoon tea was lovely, would have been nice just to have a few crips to accompany sandwichs. Had a lovely few hours.
