About The Little Chartroom
A small neighbourhood bistro serving local, seasonal dishes.
Amazing little restaurant serving great food that will give any Michelin starred place in Edinburgh a run for their money! Highly recommend and will definitely be returning!
Food was absolutely delicious - really good portion sizes and exciting menu choices. Great service and really enjoyable evening. Will definitely go back!
We had possibly some of the most delicious courses I’ve eaten in a restaurant in a very long time at the Little Chartroom. I was gifted a voucher, and I have to admit I had never heard of the restaurant before, but wowee what an incredibly pleasant surprise. Everything was absolutely spot on from the staff and the atmosphere to most importantly the food. The simplicity and deliciousness of everything was absolutely spot on. I can not recommend this place highly enough, it’s well worth a booking.
Lovely food and atmosphere. Would happily return. The set lunch menu was a good price
The Little Chartroom was excellent!
Fabulous food very well presented, will definitely be back and I have already recommended to friends. Jennifer
Really nice lunch
Food was really unique and tasty. Service was really fast and the atmosphere is really cosy and friendly as it's a small restaurant.
Great restaurant the owners were charming & food delicious
After two days dodging relentless rain and grey skies in Edinburgh, the Little Chartroom was the perfect oasis to weather the storm. It’s a cosy proposition with only a handful of tables and a few seats at the pass. Dining solo I opted for a seat at the latter. A perfect light starter, Asparagus with onion three ways and zingy Saint Felicien cheese was a worthy opener with all the elements perfectly counterbalancing. Coupled with a super clean glass of Falerio, a dry Italian white I’ve not encountered before but will look for again. Certainly put me in a happy place a world away from the hail outside. Onto mains and a contemporary take on a Bouillabaisse. Plenty of folks would argue that’s its best not to mess with a classic. However if the messers are messing with this level of care and attention to detail i think they should not only be forgiven but given a standing ovation. A perfectly cooked semi translucent scallop vies for my attention alongside a meaty piece of hake with crispy salty skin bringing texture. The tiny clams I’d have like more of but that’s a minor quibble. Probably my favourite thing on the plate (aside from the sauce, I’ll get to that) was a delicious boudin with a delicate crab flavour and gentle lemon notes to freshen. It’s as perfect a plate of seafood I’ve ever had. And the sauce. Oh the sauce. Just packed with all the flavours of the sea and no doubt no small about of time and love invested. Of course I didn’t waste a speck of it, happily mopping up the remnants with some of the house sourdough. And that was me full. Gutted as I really wanted to try the lemon and poppy seed cake with almond crunch and amaretto custard. However I’ll most certainly be making a return trip next time I’m in Edinburgh. If you’re there any time soon I’d recommend booking a table, you’ll be in very safe hands.
A delightful lunch, excellent food and very good service. This was our first visit but will definitely return. Highly recommended
Fantastic Sunday Brunch. Highly recommend can't wait until our next visit.
We had a fabulous meal sitting at the bar - exceptionally creAtive and delicious food served in a lovely environment with great passion and warmth . We look forward to coming again
Such a laid back atmosphere of for a restaurant with such high levels of service and phenomenal food.
A thoroughly enjoyable evening. Many thanks.
We enjoyed our visit very much and found the food excellent. One very small criticism was the wine list but it would not stop us coming back.
Wonderful meal and relaxed friendly service as always. The set lunch menu is excellent value for money, and we were both agreed that was one of the best desserts either of us had ever had...ever!
Excellent atmosphere, service and food as always. Will be back soon
Fantastic food and wonderful service, nice atmosphere to relax and enjoy a well presented dish of locally sourced food.
One of the best restaurants I’ve had the pleasure visiting in Edinburgh. Lovely friendly service, top food and I will be a regular customer.
Fantastic evening in a really superb restaurant. Top marks to all the staff for food, wine & service & great atmosphere too. Extra thumbs up for the seat at the bar- best in the house. We will definitely be back- hopefully soon & can’t recommend it highly enough.
The food was absolutely top notch and the prices excellent, but the room is very small and consequently crowded. If you could move to other premises and call it the medium sized chartroom it would be perfect.
Great experience. Small restaurant, small menu but everything we had was excellent. And the bread - 👌🏼
We love the short, perfectly formed menu and the intimacy of the space which allows the chef, Ms Hall, to pop out of the kitchen now and again. You are well looked after without feeling suffocated. Eating here is a bona fide treat! Remember to book ahead and feel free to surprise someone special with a relaxed dinner under the care of Ms Hall and Mr McCarron.
Young and very professional team. Good quality ingredients, well cooked and very well presented. In my opinion however the food lacks a wow factor..... all he flavors are very "flat" and so it will vanish from your "eating" memory very soon.
