About The Lion
Modern, recently refurbished destination gastro pub situated in the heart of South Teddington. Separate pub and restaurant areas make this an ideal venue for dinner, drinks or events. Serving only the highest quality products from top end suppliers
Went for Steak Night - fillet steak meal was delicious. Excellent service. Cant wait to book again.
Great Service before the rugby!
Food was great pub was great but Diamonte the waitress was brilliant , fun, enthusiatic, helpful, great customer care and so beautiful a credit to the establishment
Excellent food in a relaxed and smart atmosphere
Friendly large pub with great outside area. Good food.
Kat and the staff were great!
Good service, great food, nice location - will be glad to come back.
A return visit to the Lion after many years and it was a lovely to see the relaxed vibe and good food remain unchanged. It was a shame the set menu wasn't available on a Saturday which I'm sure it used to be but it gave us the opportunity to view the wider menu. We'll be back for another visit soon.
The worst experience ever On Christmas Day which made it even worse One of the worst meals I’ve ever eaten Response from manager & owner truly terrible Will go out of my way to spread the word Went to The Forester in hamoton wick - fantastic and the crown in at Margaret’s again fantastic Not often I leave a restaurant wanting to cry & then being accused of breaking the law because I didn’t settle the bill in full!!! Even though I spoke to our lovely waitress & explained the situation precisely whilst trying not to cry The owner said I should have complained at the time - well that would have ruined Christmas Day completely for the kids - they already knew the food was terrible Worst experience ever
Service was very stretched. There were only two people serving a busy Sunday lunch and one person on the bar. The food was very disappointing, rock hard Yorkshire puddings, tough beef, not much flavour in the fish stew.
Poor food served slowly. This used to be a great steak pub. Now they didn’t even have steak available! Talk about an arrogant terrible take over. It’s gone from our favourite treat pub , to whatever you do, don’t go there.
We’ve had mixed experiences before however we’re really happy with the food, drink, service and ambience (and music!) on Boxing Day. Thanks for making us feel very welcome.
Felt a little soulless and too loud. Salad had no dressing, though starter was nice.
We came to your first night of the beer and music festival, it was a shame that more people didn’t support it. We’ll definitely come in the summer if you run a similar thing
Not sure the refurbishment added to the atmosphere.
This was an incredibly disappointing experience. We came on the advice of friends who had been previously, evidently before it changed hands, and had had a wonderful time. There were no christmas decorations up, and it was mid-december. Apparently the staff had been too busy with christmas parties to put any up... there was not even any christmas music, special Christmas menu or a hint that it was a festive season The waiter forgot to bring our bread baskets, and when they did arrive, they arrived moments before the main, the bread was cold, and tasted of fish. The mains were ok, although the fish and chips was a very small portion for the price. The sticky toffee puddings that two of us ordered, came out cold with ice cream on top. When we asked them to be warmed up, they came back, still cold.... The waiter spoke to the general manager about our concerns, and he came out of the kitchen. He was aggressive in stance and tone, and said that he was not only the GM but having to be chef and sous chef. If this is the case, you should warn your customers prior to their arrival. We were the only ones in the restaurant on a saturday night before Christmas, and I understand why. We will not be returning, and will advise our friends to avoid it as well. Such a disappointing evening.
Many thanks for a lovely meal. The new menu has a wider variety of choices than the previous one I think. I had the ‘steak feather blade’ and my fried had a burger (‘supreme’? - not sure about the name) and both were well cooked and presented, and tasted very nice. This restaurant isn’t for you if you want somewhere with lots of activity and noise. We wanted a place relaxed and laid back in which to enjoy a good catch-up without any stress and it was perfect. Service was excellent too. All in all, a lovely meal and a nice relaxing evening:)
The service was very friendly, but extremely slow. Clearly there were not enough staff on shift with too many tables to serve. There also seemed to be some issues in the kitchen - while food & drink was generally good, it took so long to arrive we had two 3 year olds on the verge of meltdowns by the time it was on the table. Unfortunately there was little communication from the serving staff to set our expectations about the issues they were having.
The serving staff were excellent, clearly tired after a busy day but never stopped smiling and trying to make us feel welcome and looked after. The food was poor. Potatoes over cooked and everything very, very salty
Separate Sunday lunch menu would be nice
The waitress was excellent. Very happy with my food will be coming back again
I'm afraid there are an awful lot of pubs doing food in this area, and most of them are slightly better than The Lion; and some of them are much better. e.g. The Crown in Twickenham, The White Swan in Twickenham, the King's Head in Teddington.
We were booked for 6.00, arrived at 5.40 and had not been served by 6,45 - so had to leave to get to the opera at the Normansfied - so it was entirtely unsatisfactory.
