About The Lifeboat Inn
The Lifeboat Inn’s restaurant in Thornham offers a variety of places and cosy corners with roaring fires, comfy sofas to dine or simply have a drink and unwind. Whether you prefer to dine in our history-soaked bar, spacious, bright conservatory or relaxed dining room, we're as passionate about the quality of our food as we are about its provenance.
With some of the UK's best local producers on our doorstep, we're proud to be able to showcase locally-reared meats, freshly caught fish and Norfolk grown vegetables on our comprehensive, home-cooked menu.
Our Head Chef and his dedicated, highly skilled team knows just how to make the most of this locally-grown fayre. Our menus evolve constantly and feature seasonal produce while it is at its best.
From delicious, set-you-up-for-the-day hearty breakfasts, to traditional lunchtime or evening meals like fish and chips, country pates, ploughman's platters, crisp salads, hearty soups and stews and the best Sunday roasts, rest assured that each and every dish is sourced, prepared and cooked with provenance in mind, from field, sea or river to fork.
Catering for all dietary requirements (vegan, gluten-free, dairy -free), we also provide a well-balanced children's menu. Small groups with set menus for any occasion, whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner, can also be catered for.
If you are looking for a unique restaurant in Thornham for a group gathering, celebration or party, our two cedar wood pavilions offer one of the best al fresco dining experiences on the Norfolk coast.
Excellent service and food
Superb service as always excellent food
Amazing service and very attentive staff. Lovely pub.
Service was very good, roast beef was not at all good
Amazing food and great service
We have visited The Lifeboat on two separate occasions and tried both the restaurant and conservatory. The food and drink was excellent chosen from a varied and reasonably priced menu! The service was good with pleasant staff and although in the conservatory the wait for food was longer the reason for this had been clearly explained to us beforehand! All in all a good place to eat whatever age you are!
Had another lovely meal, no doubt we'll be back again soon!
Extremely beautiful location and venue, however there is no table service for food or drinks when sitting in the bar/conservatory even if you book a table. The price of the food and drinks is relatively high for an establishment not offering table service. The food quality was good but not exceptional, starters and desserts were more interesting and more thought through than the main courses. The conservatory was a beautiful space but with pop music playing in the background what ambiance that could have been achieved was lacking.
We will definitely be staying again.
No complaints at all, we always visit the lifeboat when we stay in Thornham and have done for years
Favorite place in Thornham
Great atmosphere but could do with an extra barman to speed service up
The food was extremely disappointing - the roast beef had clearly been reheated from lunchtime service. The mashed potato on top of the chicken pie tasted as if it had been made 3 days ago. Staff were nice but severely let down by the quality of the food. A real let down. I hope my comments are acted upon.
Good meal in a lovely atmospheric old pub. Stayed overnight in our campervan in the carpark. Staff very friendly.
lovely evening and staff so welcoming and food was lovely and tasty
Very friendly staff, also efficient. The Brie in bread crumbs was very tasty. All the food we has was good. Thank you chef.
Excellent from starter to dessert
A place we like but was very poor. All five meals were not up to standard. Service was enthusiastic but amateur. Doubt if we will go back.
Table book following reviews left in holiday cottage. Couldn't fault it in any way and highly recommend. Will attend again when visiting the area.
One of our main meals didn’t turn up so when we asked the waitress she hadn’’t wrote down one main meal, so we waited for it to be done and had to eat it on own as the other persons in the party had finished theirs, but to be fair the manager didn’t charge us for that meal so great customer service, other than that food was lovely and therefore will go back.
Very enjoyable, good food, the dog was made we come too
We had a lovely stay and the meal we had was really nice we liked everything about are stay but the only thing that let it down was we couldn't get a signal on the tv Thank you !!
A good pint and brilliant crab. That'll do me.
The LifeBoat Inn strikes a good balance between cosy corners and light and airy eating. The menu is not huge but covers most appetites. We were staying for a few days and enjoyed the experience. The staff were all professional, friendly and helpful. We will be visiting again!
