About The Lifeboat Inn
The Lifeboat Inn’s restaurant in Thornham offers a variety of places and cosy corners with roaring fires, comfy sofas to dine or simply have a drink and unwind. Whether you prefer to dine in our history-soaked bar, spacious, bright conservatory or relaxed dining room, we're as passionate about the quality of our food as we are about its provenance.
With some of the UK's best local producers on our doorstep, we're proud to be able to showcase locally-reared meats, freshly caught fish and Norfolk grown vegetables on our comprehensive, home-cooked menu.
Our Head Chef and his dedicated, highly skilled team knows just how to make the most of this locally-grown fayre. Our menus evolve constantly and feature seasonal produce while it is at its best.
From delicious, set-you-up-for-the-day hearty breakfasts, to traditional lunchtime or evening meals like fish and chips, country pates, ploughman's platters, crisp salads, hearty soups and stews and the best Sunday roasts, rest assured that each and every dish is sourced, prepared and cooked with provenance in mind, from field, sea or river to fork.
Catering for all dietary requirements (vegan, gluten-free, dairy -free), we also provide a well-balanced children's menu. Small groups with set menus for any occasion, whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner, can also be catered for.
If you are looking for a unique restaurant in Thornham for a group gathering, celebration or party, our two cedar wood pavilions offer one of the best al fresco dining experiences on the Norfolk coast.
Very good food and staff yesterday. We ate in the Conservatory which allowed us to take our dogs in who again were made welcome. My favourite place for eating out.
We will return. Again!
Lovely pub in a lovely location with 5 star en-suite rooms. Restaurant service is not good due to young untrained staff - we wish we had ate in the bar. Breakfast was a shambles - we waited an hour for luke warm overcooked full english.
Of course we will return to the lifeboat inn, this visit was our 3rd in the year. This time we took our friends with us and both of us had dogs which are always spoilt there. How ever we were disappointed with the lack of choice on the menu on both the Monday and Tuesday nights. Dishes that we had told our friends about had been taken away and the Tuesday was our wedding anniversary, so the lack of choice made it a bit tame. The Wednesday night did slightly improve. We later found out that they did have problems with chef issues. This issue I'm sure would of now been rectified. The rooms and overall service was again excellent.
Had a great stay at the lifeboat last Saturday night. Very pleased with our room , the food and service. Very , very dog friendly 👍
So disappointed with the dinner menu. Have stayed and eaten with you many times- food always been excellent . However, very little to choose from now ( husband had fish and chips- right next to the sea and fish nothing special and batter not crispy ) breakfast, though, was excellent.( hence 3 stars not 2) Staff friendly and attentive Mattress had seen better days but bedding good
Food was excellent but the service was very slow.
Very pleasant venue. Will go again
Great 2 night DBB break in our favourite village on the north Norfolk coast. All good.
Atmosphere great and service.... food ok but not very good value for money ....
What a lovely time we had at the Lifeboat Inn. Great food, atmosphere and service. Thanks James, the hot chocolate king.
Had a lovely lunch with friends plus their dog. I had crab salad which was very tasty and fresh. Husband had roast beef with all the trimmings. Starter of goats cheese with beetroot. Good combination. Wide selection of gin. Service excellent. Friendly staff with good knowledge of their menu. Will return and recommend.
The food was nice, we ate in the conservatory. The service was slow, and could have been quicker as there were enough staff to deal with the relatively busy evening. Chocolate brownie was disappointing as served cold.
Very disappointed with our visit and meal at the Lifeboat Inn. Presentation of the main courses, in particular the Sea Bass was poor. Overall we felt the meal was overpriced.
Sixtieth birthday dinner for 18 people. Thank you to all the staff for helping make it such a memorable event by getting good food out quickly to so many people and looking after us so well. Nobody had any issues and the timing between courses was just right.
We booked dinner in one of the pavilion dining spaces. Great fun - very comfortable. Service very good. Friendly and considerate.
Haven’t visited for many years still a unique place and has maintained its special character
I booked the restaurant in December for 7:15pm when confirming they said it was at 6::15 until I showed both my emails confirming that I had booked 7:15 ! We arrived for dinner in the restaurant and they had again lost our reservation and we were put in a horrible seat by the toilets when there were much nicer tables available! We we did not feel very velcome and no one seemed bothered about the sitter had been placed in ! It soured an otherwise glorious visit to the Lifeboat Inn!
Great service, clean and tidy. Nothing too much trouble.
Excellent Sunday lunch.
Lower rating for the atmosphere because we were in the restaurant which is a little ;cold' and empty. However it did fill as the evening progressed. Food has improved considerably since last year
We loved our stay Thankyou! It is such an interesting and charasmatic Inn. Our room was really comfortable. The staff were very welcoming, helpful and accommodating and the food was delicious. Thanks!
Good job we booked (using their online reservations) as it was very busy even on Monday lunchtime. Dog-friendly. Staff very attentive and helpful. Good quality food and well-kept beer.
A cracking find! Will definately be back. A very enjoyable stay, great food, lovely atmosphere and the most dog friendly hotel we've ever stayed in.
