About The Lexden Crown
The Lexden Crown has a long and colourful history having been a beerhouse since 1851 with the original building dating back to the 1600’s. An unexploded artillery shell sat unnoticed in the bar for six years and even that failed to deter the shy but persistent, ghost said to walk the bar on Saturday evenings…
Friendly attentive service.
Always good food and service.
We came for a quiet meal for My 50th Birthday with My dear friend who is very close fo 90, it was a early booking at 5.30pm which was perfect for us, the food was all excellent, one had Burger one had Chops and one had Salmon it was all beautiful, presented lovely and tasted lovely. We followed with dessert and coffee. I would recommend this place to anyone and would not hesitate to return. The restaurant is lovely it also has a beautiful garden. And the service was fabulous, I couldn’t fault a single thing. Thanks for a great early evening meal.
Greeted as soon as we walked in the door and taken straight to a table. All the staff were smiling and helped to create a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Food was excellent, piping hot and delivered in good time. I will be bringing my folks here at the end of the month when they come to stay for the weekend. The garden is lovely too.
Friendly, helpful staff. Good menu choice.
My wife had the three smoked fish to start . Good apart from maceral which was dry as a bone. She followed with seabass. A very modest sized piece of delicious fish. I the £12 deal. Pate very nice, fish & chips a disappointment with cold mushy peas which had never been shown the heat and chips that were only just cooked. Fish very nice . Overall a bit of a shame . My wife stopped me complaining as it were her birthday. We were not asked if it was" alright".
Fantastic tasty lunch with great service. Surroundings are lovely too. Will be back!
Twice waiting staff took our requests and then dealt with customers ordering drinks and paying bill, rather than sorting our request. Not really good enough
I believe the pub may have recently changed hands as all staff were new to my knowledge. Staff were polite and helpful, unfortunately the quality of the food had slipped, also many things we originally wanted to order were not available the day we visited. Hopefully things improve...
Lovely service, great food and atmosphere as always!
Very good food as always I just feel that vegetables should be included a part of the meal . Love the fact that the specials change regularly
Thought the food was quite pricy for the portion size. Had beef and ale pie which was the size of a sliver of cheesecake. Had Pie elsewhere for less money and the pie was much bigger. Disappointing
We both enjoyed the particularly delicious £12 for two menu. The pate was a splendid chap followed by a beef curry packed with punch. Great value.
Always a warm welcome at the Crown. Summer days on the lawn's a bonus
Always love it here, lovely food , local and staff lovely
Excellent friendly service and tasty food.
An enjoyable return to the Crown, a week after the previous visit. All good.
Choice of food was good. Chose the gourmet burger which didn’t taste very gourmet, more a basic butchers one, however the rest of the food looked good.
You've stopped adding veg to main courses - please consider adding them again as this increases value.
This was our third visit to the lexden crown, twice as a large family party. The service is always excellent, the staff appear happy and seem to go all out to make sure everyone is happy and catered for. The food is always delicious and plentiful. Value to money second to none x
A disappointing evening. When our main meals arrived it was just the meat dish on a bed of mashed potato with no veg which I would have expected. I did mention this and was told that veg were a side dish. A side to e is something additional. So salad, onion rings would be a side dish certainly not seasonal veg. I also asked if there was a real ale and was told that they only had IPA. When I paid at the bar I saw that Speckled Hen was available which would have been my preferred drink. All in all not a good evening. In fact the worst eating experience I have had for years. Not up to your usual standard and would make me wary of a celebration meal in the future.
Great food as always.
CHOC PEPPERMINT WOULD BE WELCOMED WITH COFFEE - DON'T PAYING A BIT EXTRA SO AS NOT TO AFFECT MARGINS!
