About The Larder House
Founder James Fowler (2014 World Class UK Bartender of the year) and his highly skilled & dedicated team are breathing a refreshing and much needed, new life into East Dorset’s food and drink scene. Infused with traditions of bygone eras and through continuous researching into the greatest foods from around the U.K & Europe, The Larder House is rapidly winning the hearts of the countries foodie elite and local residents.
The wood fired oven is at the core of the restaurant & bar, but what’s most inspiring is the seamless synergy between the kitchen and front of house. The enthusiasm is abundant and the research that goes into their offering is intriguing. This ensures that everything you order has a story to tell, be it their range of unordinary back bar spirits or the range of charcuterie & cheeses that they showcase. The Larder House is playful, accessible and carries a buzz in the air that is difficult to describe. What’s important though, is that it gives you the feeling you have stumbled upon something very special, almost secret.
It’s a project for us where we really do serve pure passion. We pay homage to the origins of true food whether local or from around Europe. Beyond what we offer now is a lot of learning where we are pushing ourselves to be ambassadors to the foods and drink that we all personally love to enjoy. We don’t just serve it, we really do live it!!
The Larder House opened its doors back in January 2011 and will continually evolve by discovering new products and creating its unique portfolio of offerings. As a customer you will really see the restaurant & team grow & specialise. Especially when you attend one of their showcase nights whereby the team give a unique food & libation pairing event covering all aspects and flavours of the chosen product. Previous showcase nights have shown expertise in Sherry wines, Offal, Port, Absinthe, Single Malt Whisky & Gin.
Lovely food and wine, service was great, perfect.
Bit disappointed with our starter salad and the staff were a little slow but otherwise a great night as usual
excellent food and service.A lovely evening out!
the best sunday roast in southbourne and christchurch
The food was really good - definetly the best roast I have had in Dorset. The service was poor - when serving the food they did not ask if there was anything else we needed - this meant we had to call the waitress back to request horseradish. They did not come over to ask how the food was, which was frustrating ad we wanted to order more drinks but no one came over so we couldn't. When it came to paying the bill, we had to ask for it twice as the first waitress didn't retrieve it.
Allowing barking dogs in the courtyard at Sunday lunchtimes could be a mistake But everything else outstanding as always
Everything we had was delicious. Lovely atmosphere - unique and special.
amazing food and amazing service. Great place for a large roast!
Excellent Sunday lunch
Really enjoyed our sunday lunch. Staff were friendly and helpful and food was brilliant
We had a lovely meal here on Sunday. The presentation of the fish was excellent one of the best flavours too and the roast been meal was very tasty. Portion sizes were good and the wine choices were good too. Would definitely return here.
Overall good. However, two of the desserts smelt and tasted like cheesy feet, we did say something, but were told that was how a lemon dessert should taste: very odd.
Fantastic service from knowledgeable and hardworking staff
The best roast dinners in town.. We absolutely love the Larderhouse, great food and great choice of wines. My only negative is the food choices for children.
Food was lovely. We were sat rather close to other diners, so cosy. Wine was bit pricey but we had a lovely evening and will return.
Myself and my partner came for a lovely meal out, the staff were amazing, happy and very welcoming, the food was equally absolutely incredible. Overall we had a lovely time and will definitely be returning!
We had a brilliant evening. Thanks to all the staff
Lovely evening, great food!
Another lovely evening and fantastic food. Visited to celebrate my Wife’s birthday and were made very welcome indeed. The food was as impeccable as ever. Thank you. See you soon!
A unique adorable little place. Try it!
Had a great meal & a great time for my mum's birthday. We always visit the Larder House to make that special occasion extra special, a real treat. Great food, great service.
It’s a wonderful place, with a well thought out menu and beautiful ingredients.. I’m fortunate to have experienced the best food many countries have to offer. This is very close to the top of my English experiences. I am English. Just don’t get so popular that I can’t get a table!
The guys working the bar were amazing and everything was perfect we had a lovely time thanks so much xx
Attentive service and food properly prepared
