About The Larder House
Founder James Fowler (2014 World Class UK Bartender of the year) and his highly skilled & dedicated team are breathing a refreshing and much needed, new life into East Dorset’s food and drink scene. Infused with traditions of bygone eras and through continuous researching into the greatest foods from around the U.K & Europe, The Larder House is rapidly winning the hearts of the countries foodie elite and local residents.
The wood fired oven is at the core of the restaurant & bar, but what’s most inspiring is the seamless synergy between the kitchen and front of house. The enthusiasm is abundant and the research that goes into their offering is intriguing. This ensures that everything you order has a story to tell, be it their range of unordinary back bar spirits or the range of charcuterie & cheeses that they showcase. The Larder House is playful, accessible and carries a buzz in the air that is difficult to describe. What’s important though, is that it gives you the feeling you have stumbled upon something very special, almost secret.
It’s a project for us where we really do serve pure passion. We pay homage to the origins of true food whether local or from around Europe. Beyond what we offer now is a lot of learning where we are pushing ourselves to be ambassadors to the foods and drink that we all personally love to enjoy. We don’t just serve it, we really do live it!!
The Larder House opened its doors back in January 2011 and will continually evolve by discovering new products and creating its unique portfolio of offerings. As a customer you will really see the restaurant & team grow & specialise. Especially when you attend one of their showcase nights whereby the team give a unique food & libation pairing event covering all aspects and flavours of the chosen product. Previous showcase nights have shown expertise in Sherry wines, Offal, Port, Absinthe, Single Malt Whisky & Gin.
superb food (a big hug in the belly - much needed in these strange times) and lovely friendly staff. We will miss you this month.
I had this place recommended to me and I was not disappointed! Food was excellent, a meal is slightly pricier than standard in the area but you pay for the quality of the food that you get there. The service was great. Atmosphere was only a four stars due to the time I went - I’m sure the atmosphere is five star usually. I’ll definitely be going back when possible and recommend to anyone.
Great place, see you again after the lockdown
Love it every time. Spectacular balance of refined food without being too fancy. Just absolutely delicious. We came to spend as much as we could the other night to help support good local business like this and despite two adults and child getting through £180 it was absolutely worth every penny. We did treat ourselves to numerous cocktails and amazing wine within that so great value. We rolled out so full plus a doggy bag for the mutt. Thank you and good lock for lockdown and after. See you on the other side!
Fantastic dining experience as usual thank you
Amazing as always, even provided a takeaway roast to take home to my daughter who is a nurse and couldn’t make it as working, she loved it, thank you guys x
Roasts are incredible and service the same
Great food as ever, and very quick service. Interesting vegetables, nice to have something a bit different to the norm
A fantastic rare night out out. The staff all wore masks, tables well spaced. The food, as always Was delicious. Thank you Larder house, you didn’t disappoint!
Great place to eat and great atmosphere
Lovely place - really enjoyed my visit to this restaurant. Food was delicious and staff were so friendly and had good knowledge about the food they serve. Would recommend to anyone in the area. Will have to go back for the Sunday roast!
Bloody amazing food, staff are all so friendly and attentive, drinks are awesome, the library is excellent and the bartender is very talented. We had a great evening. Also just want to say how great it was to enjoy such a gorgeous veggie option! I usually worry that I would be disappointed as a vegetarian, as in a lot of places it is an afterthought. But it was delicious and clearly you have put in great effort to cater to that (although, the kitchen had ran out of veggie gravy which would have topped it off nicely!) all round absolutely brilliant!
Great service and atmosphere, especially in challenging covid times.
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING! Atmosphere perfect, food perfect and staff were outstanding. Would travel 2.5 hours back just to visit again! Thank you
Amazing roast, huge!
Perfect Sunday lunch experience. Chilled Sunday vibe, DELICIOUS food and great service. Thank you
Food is amazing, dog friendly in the conservatory and a really relaxed but lovely atmosphere.
Great evening, friendly staff, very good food in a really nice atmosphere. A shame we had to leave at 10 pm but that’s obviously not the restaurant’s fault.Highly recommended. One of the best in Bournemouth and surrounding areas..
Great food, great service, great atmosphere
After a 2nd visit to The Larderhouse, it was just as good. The food is excellent with great choices, the staff friendly and attentive, the decor and ambience is lovely. We aren’t locals but would travel to come here again and again. Also, The Library upstairs follows the same excellent experience with a great mixologist who was friendly, knowledgeable and made amazing cocktails.
I didn't have a starter, but nabbed a mouthful or two of my husbands squash. We both found it a very dry claggy constancy, maybe a sauce , not just jam? We both had steak which was amazingly tasty! I had treacle tart, it wasn't what I had imagined ( having been recommended) , it was more of a shortbread base than scone and I think ice cream would have been a better accompaniment as the cream didn't really lift the flavour of the tart ( I was expecting it to be a little sweeter) My husband loved his chocolate dessert, no doubt there! ( semi fredo) Coffee was smooth and delightful! The aperitif was a little unusual, promising strawberry and raspberry flavour, ( none delivered!) with sorbet , weird, not awful but strange . Probably not have that one again! The service was second to none and the restaurant decor a wow! I can't ( and won't!) complain. It was a nice evening and I will return!
Best roast in town, lovely as always!
This was our first visit but it won’t be our last. We had a fantastic lunch with great service and a wonderful atmosphere.
Always keep coming back to the Larderhouse. It's a super local restaurant.
Great evening and well run
