About The Larder House
Founder James Fowler (2014 World Class UK Bartender of the year) and his highly skilled & dedicated team are breathing a refreshing and much needed, new life into East Dorset’s food and drink scene. Infused with traditions of bygone eras and through continuous researching into the greatest foods from around the U.K & Europe, The Larder House is rapidly winning the hearts of the countries foodie elite and local residents.
The wood fired oven is at the core of the restaurant & bar, but what’s most inspiring is the seamless synergy between the kitchen and front of house. The enthusiasm is abundant and the research that goes into their offering is intriguing. This ensures that everything you order has a story to tell, be it their range of unordinary back bar spirits or the range of charcuterie & cheeses that they showcase. The Larder House is playful, accessible and carries a buzz in the air that is difficult to describe. What’s important though, is that it gives you the feeling you have stumbled upon something very special, almost secret.
It’s a project for us where we really do serve pure passion. We pay homage to the origins of true food whether local or from around Europe. Beyond what we offer now is a lot of learning where we are pushing ourselves to be ambassadors to the foods and drink that we all personally love to enjoy. We don’t just serve it, we really do live it!!
The Larder House opened its doors back in January 2011 and will continually evolve by discovering new products and creating its unique portfolio of offerings. As a customer you will really see the restaurant & team grow & specialise. Especially when you attend one of their showcase nights whereby the team give a unique food & libation pairing event covering all aspects and flavours of the chosen product. Previous showcase nights have shown expertise in Sherry wines, Offal, Port, Absinthe, Single Malt Whisky & Gin.
Very slow service and quality of meat was poor on one of our two main meals. The other one was fine.
Felt it was a bit over priced.
We booked the meal as a celebration and thanks to the welcoming atmosphere and delicious food, we had a wonderful evening. The service was excellent and the staff clearly knew about the food and drink on offer, and therefore could advise us on our choices. I'm a pescetarian and was very happy with the menu selection. It is good value, but whenever we go we can't not have desert, cheese and a great bottle of wine etc, so we spend more than normal, but for the best food and drink around. Highly recommended.
Great atmosphere, fantastic roast potatoes and the server could not have been better. We will be back.
Loving the woodburner:-) great food as always
Only disappointment was that balsamic vinegar was not available
Amazing Sunday roast, lovely atmosphere. Great value for money!
We had a lovely meal, the service was good and it tasted delicious. Would go again.
We had heard about the Larder House from friends and decided to try it for ourselves. We were shown to the covered outside area, where there Was a fire to keep us warm. The staff were extremely nice and the menu was explained. We shared a terrine sharing platter to start, which was delightful. Our mains were beautifully cooked. I had the pheasant, which was delicious and my husband had the venison, which melted in his mouth. The service was slick, not rushing us, but equally, making sure we were happy with our food. I would recommend the restaurant to friends and we will definitely be back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time. The staff were super friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was fantastic. We will be returning
Great evening, Paul the chef was fantastic. Highly recommend.
Relaxed atmosphere and very tasty food.
Great food and great service. Atmosphere was good for a Friday evening. Although it was a little bit expensive, especially when all the drinks were added in, but then the quality of the food was great.
We loved our first visit to the larder house. Food was brilliant. Staff were informed, happy and patient. Would highly recommend to others.
Very charming restaurant and great food , using quality ingredients
Portions were massive - you could probably cut back on the meat allocation, although not too much!
Amazing food, fantastic service
Excellent food. Great atmosphere. Very good customer service. A hidden gem in Bournemouth. Highly recommended
Amazing food! Staff very friendly and helpful. Had a lovely evening at the laser house and visited the library bar after dinner. Loved it and will definitely return
Lovely restaurant. Super food. Very attentive, helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Lovely food and staff. The main part of the restaurant is cool. The extension out the back isn’t quite so nice but will come into its own in the summer I’m sure
This is a lovely place (I have been 3 times) but have always been a bit disappointed with the food. It's fine but not quite what it should be somehow.
Great service, staff all very friendly and food was as good as any top class restaurant in London
This was our 2nd visit for a Sunday roast but this time had invited some family members for a birthday meal. Everyone agreed how fantastic everything was from the food to the service. The cheese board for one was amazing!! Can't rate this place highly enough. Staff are all lovely and friendly and can't do enough for you.
