About The Larder House
Founder James Fowler (2014 World Class UK Bartender of the year) and his highly skilled & dedicated team are breathing a refreshing and much needed, new life into East Dorset’s food and drink scene. Infused with traditions of bygone eras and through continuous researching into the greatest foods from around the U.K & Europe, The Larder House is rapidly winning the hearts of the countries foodie elite and local residents.
The wood fired oven is at the core of the restaurant & bar, but what’s most inspiring is the seamless synergy between the kitchen and front of house. The enthusiasm is abundant and the research that goes into their offering is intriguing. This ensures that everything you order has a story to tell, be it their range of unordinary back bar spirits or the range of charcuterie & cheeses that they showcase. The Larder House is playful, accessible and carries a buzz in the air that is difficult to describe. What’s important though, is that it gives you the feeling you have stumbled upon something very special, almost secret.
It’s a project for us where we really do serve pure passion. We pay homage to the origins of true food whether local or from around Europe. Beyond what we offer now is a lot of learning where we are pushing ourselves to be ambassadors to the foods and drink that we all personally love to enjoy. We don’t just serve it, we really do live it!!
The Larder House opened its doors back in January 2011 and will continually evolve by discovering new products and creating its unique portfolio of offerings. As a customer you will really see the restaurant & team grow & specialise. Especially when you attend one of their showcase nights whereby the team give a unique food & libation pairing event covering all aspects and flavours of the chosen product. Previous showcase nights have shown expertise in Sherry wines, Offal, Port, Absinthe, Single Malt Whisky & Gin.
Always love a visit to the Larder House.
Amazing food and the Hampshire wine was delicious too. Staff were lovely and so helpful. We will definitely be coming back!
Lovely Sunday lunch, very timely and fabulous food. Very friendly staff too.
Always a good night. Thank you. See you soon.
Great place. Amazing staff, food was lovely, perfect atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
A lovely meal had here, with a menu that never disappoints!
We enjoyed a brilliant night here! I arrived early and had quite a long wait on my own and the staff were very welcoming and made me feel at home. The food and wine were really lovely and the decor and atmosphere were great but the waitress was just amazing. We were quite rowdy and one of our party was a bit cheeky and she was brilliant - great sense of humour, joined in with the banter but also kept him in line!! Very impressed all round - thanks for a great night!
Fabulous food and a fabulous team always at The Larder House
The staff are extremely friendly and add a lot to the visit to The Larder House. Each course that we ate had something unusual about it and again added to the experience We would return again
Excellent restaurant, with top quality food, warm and personal services, and very reasonable price! Definitely worth the visit for any food lovers!
Yet another delicious meal . Always a great service and the chef was so fab with our requests . Thank you Bethany and JJ for looking after us so well, my friends from Leicester loved the Larder house xx
Lovely as always
Just some more vegan/vegetarian options would be fantastic xx
A very enjoyable evening for my partner and I for our anniversary. Excellent food and wine and lovely staff. Thank you!
The larder house continues to be my favourite restaurant, within the local area and it continues to not disappoint.
The duck was leathery and obviously re heated and the potatoes were stale. When booking we had said this was to celebrate a birthday however they did absolutely nothing. Disappointing and will not be returning soon.
Awesome place on every level - food, drink and service all faultless. And all very good value. We’ll be back soon.
we perhaps chose a wrong night, sunday evening, and took roast, this isnt the place for that, we'll give it another shot and try something else.
Fabulous service and food... good quality food at reasonable price. We will becoming back with friends and family... what a gem for southbourne!
I had to take our food to go as my daughter was frustrated which I understand isn’t the restaurants fault however we didn’t get any vegetables to take away. We when we got home and plated up with was just meat and potatoes. Abit disappointing for not a cheap meal.
Great food!! Beef was amazing.. cocktails and wine were also fab!! Great to see the chefs using the wood fired oven!
Lovely lunch at the larder house. Food was delicious and loved eating out in the conservatory. Will definitely be back!
As always, had a fabulous meal, friendly staff and great atmosphere.
Nice place, table service was hit and miss. Girl who served us was lovely, but the guy didn’t seem to be particularly on the ball. Relish for charcuterie platter was dropped on floor by waiter as it arrived at the table, but wasn’t replaced until we asked for it. Then we were given another chutney. Not sure whether this was right! Platter of cheese and charcuterie platter were nice, but not a lot of cheese for the money. Also, asked for more pitta, but had finished before it arrived.
Great service, excellent food and wine.
