About The Larder Coventry
A contemporary yet traditional restaurant, The Larder Restaurant brings hearty British cuisine to the Hilton Coventry hotel.
Afternoon Tea is served daily 12.00 - 16.00
Our experience started off not very good as we made a booking through groupon, drove all the way to Coventry and when we got there they told us the hotel was closed to the public. Obviously we were not very pleased and nothing was offered in return for our inconvenience. Despite this, we were able to rebook. The food was very nice and the atmosphere was very relaxing and calming in the lobby. The spa facilities were standard, nothing special which was surprising for a Hilton hotel however it is what it is. The pool was clean as well as the sauna and steam room, however the changing rooms were dirty and smelly, i think this may be due to the toilets, shower and changing area being all open plan. If i could recommend doing the swimming classes somewhere else as this reduced the usage of the pool and created a lot of noise. I am averagely pleased with the experience, however we will not be returning.
Sandwiches dry and boring filling. Cakes a bit boring. Scones nice. No one checked if we were okay. No offer of further drinks.
Service was very poor , no options for afternoon tea menu were given or allergies or dietary needs asked about. Service was extremely slow and only basic communication was provided. Seating area for afternoon tea was more of a lounge area and not suitable for dining. Portion sizes were also very small. Our package included a spa access but this was never mentioned or offered by staff
Twice I requested no fish, once on the booking and once when we arrived. Despite this fish was put on my sandwich. Felt like the quantity of sandwiches and cake was very poor. The “cake stand” was not that but some wooden contraption thing that was dirty, old and not pleasant at all. Not quite the afternoon tea experience I was expecting. I’ve had much much better elsewhere for the same price. Really dissatisfied and won’t come again or recommend to anyone.
Good food in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Service is excellent without being overpowering.
had afternoon tea. nice but cakes were very sweet
Booking wasn't received by staff, had to wait nearly an hour for afternoon tea. No apology, made to feel like an inconvenience and told they were busy and this was from the supervisor! Food was lovely as always but only one tea bag in a pot of tea... not great. Over all service was terrible once again!
Our group of ladies were made to feel very special and we would all certainly return. A very friendly atmosphere and offers of extra food and drinks was much appreciated
Excellent staff especially Daniel, food was excellent but would be mice to jave had plaim scones avaliable.
Food is bland. Scones were lovely. Limited tea and coffee. Not the best value i have had. Staff were lovely and helpful
This is the second time I've been to the doubletree for afternoon tea. I would definitely go again. Atmosphere is lovely, food is great can't really complain
Hotel is lovely, long wait on food for the evening meal over an hour's wait. Breakfast was good, however some items were cold and at 9am the majority of pastries were finished. I also had to ask for glasses as there were none on the table we sat on.
Really nice afternoon tea
Excellent day, purchased a Groupon voucher for an afternoon tea with Prosecco for 2 people plus use of leisure facilities. Easy booking system, friendly, helpful staff. Gorgeous food and surroundings
Lovely afternoon tea.
A really enjoyable time. Relaxing and chilled. Very friendly service.
Beautiful setting. I feel at least 2 drinks per person should be included. Service was non existent except to deliver food otherwise we had to find staff ourselves for further assistance, therefore I don't feel I should have been charged a service charge.
Amazing service, particularly from the Lady at the pool, absolutely lovely and so friendly and helpful. Great value for money and food was great ! Would definitely go here again.
We visited on Sunday the 21st of July and had a lovely time Mum/Nan Daughters and grandaughters, service and afternoon tea was to a high standard, would certainly book again
Staff were e extremely helpful, friendly and courteous. Afternoon tea was excellent.
Sandwiches we're very nice but very small portions. The cakes were lovely. I did have to stand and the bar for a while to find a waitress to remind them that ours included a glass of prosecco.
Wonderful afternoon. Loverly afternoon tea ,then I nice relax in the spa .
Lovely time at the larder , cakes and scones were freshly baked . Perhaps the sandwiches could have been a bit more interesting
Very attentive bar man and delicious food and drink. Excellent value and great to use the leisure facilities beforehand. Great value and a lovely day had at the Hilton Coventry.
