A very disappointing experience and a very expensive mistake.
Just a fantastic birthday treat thank you very much
We enjoyed our stay however I wish someone had informed us of the child restrictions in the spa & restaurants at the time of booking a family room!
Beautiful surroundings, attentive staff, food was spectacular, our only twist was although our table was booked for 8.30pm, and most (not all) diners/guests had been seated / finished by then, we felt we were slightly rushed throughout the meal, probably in order for the staff to finish their shift / or start another elsewhere in the hotel! Oh - and although our package included one night dining in The Lake View Restaurant we were charged a supplement of £15 pp, which I challenged and this was taken off the final bill.
We dined here as part of our weekend package. So lunch was included. We chose a sandwich lunch, which was very good and lots of it! Sadly again, not many people dining and no atmosphere. Staff attentive, but not overly knowledgeable.
We dined in the Courtyard (as part of the spa package) Friday evening, whilst staff were pleasant, they were not overly knowledgeable about the food or the package we had chosen. Food was plentiful and good quality. The Courtyard lacks atmosphere sadly, its a place you just want to re-fuel in rather than linger in our opinion.
Excellent service from the staff throughout the hotel. Professional, courteous and helpful. Still need to keep previous visits recorded so that when you check in at reception they know you are a returning customer or when you ring to make a booking. Four staff remembered my wife and I, greeted us and shook hands. It makes you feel very welcome and a little bit like returning “home” ( we have been to the hotel over twenty five times) The manager in the restaurant “Reetis” (sp) is fantastic and very welcoming. One other point is we were disappointed after our massage in the Spa. We did complain after we felt we had a 30 minute slot but the actual treatment only lasted just over 18 minutes. This has happened twice. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was very relaxing. My sister and brother in law stayed at Armathwaite on the day we returned on an offer which was brilliant. Perhaps regular customers could be offered such discounts.
We found our stay superb. The spa facilities were excellent and the staff were extremely accomadating. The only point to raise is the that our room was not available on time which meant we had to go straight to the spa and check in afterward. We are in the brassiere as well which was fantastic.
Serenity spa wknd is great value for money, staff and service are great and rooms fab - thank you!
Thank you for a lovely afternoon tea. What a treat. I'm sure we'll be back.
A beautiful, quiet location. We were generously upgraded to a magnificent suite. All that I had hoped for.
The food in the main restaurant in the evenings during our stay was outstanding
Great for recharging your batteries Relaxing calm chilled atmosphere use of spa made it extra special
Staff are so helpful and cannot do enough for you.
Lovely location, food in the Bar and Brasserie was excellent. I was a little disappointed with the food at the lakeside restaurant. Nice clean room. Just one niggle my wife bought us a drink at the cocktail bar and instead of placing my wife’s change in her outstretched hand it was thrown on the counter which I found rude to say the least. Also discussing how an employee had been sacked in front of guests I thought a little off, but for the most part the staff were very good
From the very start it was poor. When we booked in we were giving very little information - no details about the spa, cocktail lounge or other amenities. I thought the hotel looked 'tired' the décor was old and damaged in places. No air con in rooms which made it unbearable. We were late to breakfast but it did say breakfast was served until 10. We got there at 9.50 but it was apparent that we needed to be rushed. My full English contained half a slice of bacon !! The bright spot was the evening meal in the restaurant which was good quality and good service. Unfortunately we won't be returning as I didn't think this was 4 star quality at all.
Staff are amazing, food is lovely. Unfortunately we attended when the restaurant was quiet so the atmosphere wasn't as good as it would have been.
Very enjoyable stay and we were well looked after. Excellent staff.
found the shower in the room too be of a very poor standard considering we decided to go for one of the best rooms available at the hall, apart from this we had a wonderful stay .
Wonderful food and a great service provided by the staff. It was great to see so many vegetarian options too! I would definitely go back. The music was a little subdued for a brasserie, and because it was a very quiet Tuesday afternoon this did little to enhance it, we were one of only 2 occupied tables and I think something a little more upbeat would have warmed up the atmosphere.
Fine dining perfection in wonderful surroundings and top class service.
My partner and myself fell in love with Armathwaite the second we arrived. The grounds are fantastic and very magical with a breathtaking view of the lake. The spa was relaxing and out treatments washed away all the worries in the world. We have a fantastic 3 course meal in the less formal restaurant, we got upgraded into a lake view room with a balcony the view was out of this world we could have sat out all night ( we nearly did). The cocktail lounge was very modern but with a majestic feel. All in all we loved our 1 night stay and can’t wait until we save some pennies to visit again. Martin Alexander & Joey Robinson
Food not as good as expected, one member of staff had really bad BO. Very expensive for what it is.
We booked afternoon tea great quality delicious sandwiches cakes and pastries and superb service a credit to all involved and really lovely champagne thanks for a lovely day the views were amazing highly recommended
We enjoyed our evening. The staff were efficient, friendly and helpful
