About The Kitchen at Chewton Glen
The Kitchen - Relaxed Dining
The Kitchen provides an informal dining experience with an open plan layout offering you the chance to watch the Chefs at work. The à la carte menu features wood-fired pizzas, gourmet burgers, superfood salads and much more.
The meal we had at The Kitchen was fantastic. Will definitely be back to dine again.
One again we had a most enjoyable experience at the Kitchen, just perfect in every way.
Worst rib-eye steak I have ever had!! Full of gristle and over cooked! Second attempt was even worse.....
First time here and the food was incredible. Staff and service first class. Will definitely be back
Great value and atmosphere. Our waitress Sandra was great! Thanks x
We visited there for lunch. There was a nice food selection, and the portion size was just about right. Staff were super helpful and friendly.
Food delicious, service a bit slow even though it wasn’t busy.
Fabulous especially how you cooked what we made during the day and weren’t out out by this
This is our 3rd visit and it is still an excellent place to relax and enjoy good food. We will come again!
So pleased to find out James Martin had a restaurant I do admire his cooking skills.
Just back from a birthday dinner at The Kitchen, if you expect Chewton Glen service then you will be disappointed. The service isn’t great, no finger bowl for shell on King prawns... ok, you might think we are being snobby here but my husband thought it would be quicker to go and wash his hands in the toilets rather than ask for a bowl, gents had run out of soap. Had to wait 10 minutes for the bottle of wine. No plate to eat your fish and chips, served in a wire basket - fish on top of chips. The fish was good, as was the gratin starter. My burger ‘Trenchman’ couldn’t eat the bacon as it was too crispy couldn’t cut it without it flying off onto someone else’s plate but the chips were good. During dinner we were asked if we were getting cold as we were sat right by the open doors, we said yes. The waitress said she would close them in a minute......still waiting by the time we left. After dinner we asked whether there was a smoking area, we were told no, but we could use one of the tables at the back and they would bring an ashtray.....you know what’s coming....nope didn’t happen. We returned to our table and offered a dessert, we shared the chocolate brownie special, quite yummy. I went to the loo and surprise surprise no soap in the ladies either! Asked again if we could get an ashtray, the waitress said she couldn’t find one, eventually a pot appeared and we went for a smoke. Staff pleasant but not very efficient, it wasn’t particularly busy either. After dessert, they came with some ice cream and a happy birthday message on the plate - thank you. Sadly, we won’t be rushing back, yes it’s reasonably priced but the service needs to up their game, hate to think what it would be like when it’s busy, as we noticed they were delivering food to the wrong tables too.
A delicious meal and very relaxed first night of our stay at the spa.
Fabulous night - couldn't fault it!
It was our first time and we had a great afternoon, Atmosphere, service, drinks and starters couldn't have been better. 3 of the 4 of us didn't love our mains as much as we had hoped but they were still very good. Server brought the children complimentary ice creams on slate boards with nice Happy Bday writing in white chocolate. Needless to say, kids were thrilled and a very nice touch. Thank you.
I was staying at the hotel for two nights and decided to go here for my partners 40th birthday meal as we went to the main restaurant the night before and also had breakfast there everyday. We couldn’t get a reservation until 21.00 so thought it would be busy and have a good buzz about the place but instead we were the only ones in there, prawn starter very disappointing, steak was fatty and the toilets were very dirty. Not the standard I was expecting compared to the hotel. I wish The lady on reception had cottoned onto the special occasion And advised of its kid friendly vibes!!
Was celebrating an engagement and the waitress’s noted and co granulated is and then bought is out complementary prosecco! Also had a congratulations written with my dessert! Great friendly service makes the lunch even better
Fabulous food, great service and fun atmosphere.
Lovely setting and service. Would definitely recommend
Great service and food as always Staff are brilliant
Excellent food very enjoyable
Amazing, thank you for a wonderful night and dinner
Great place made better by James Martin coming over and remembering Helen from a cookery class she went on of his! Great place fantastic food and great value. We will be back.
We had one hiccup, when we arrived early we sat outside for a drink, on asking a waitress for assistance relating to gluten insolence options she said she would send someone out to explain immediately. After 15 to 20 minutes no one had come out so we went inside. We were then greeted by Lyndsey who could not have been more helpful, she apologised on behalf of the restaurant and took time to explain the options in detail. Following this everything was superb, I would to say Lyndsey is a real asset, she is extremely professional and made our evening memorable, we will certainly be returning soon and will be recommending the Kitchen to friends and the guests of our holiday accommodation. Well done Lyndsey. Also the welcome of the Chewton Glen was lovely being offered a buggy lift when we had parked in the main car park, they could easily have told us to drive to the other car park but instead insisted in taking us instead. One further note Mr Martin who was in running a chefs table was most polite and took time to say hello even when he was obviously busy. This appears to reflect the whole ethos of the Kitchen. Overall we had a wonderful experience.
As usual a wonderful dining experience
very good food and service
