About The Kitchen at Chewton Glen
The Kitchen - Relaxed Dining
The Kitchen provides an informal dining experience with an open plan layout offering you the chance to watch the Chefs at work. The à la carte menu features wood-fired pizzas, gourmet burgers, superfood salads and much more.
A very poor experience. My salad was inedible .It was VERY cold and had come straight from the fridge. It tasted and looked at least a couple of days old. The lady waiter was helpful. The male waiter was off hand and disinterested.. My grandsons beef burger was very small and also poor value. This is the second time I have visited this month and the earlier dinner was better but also not up to scratch. I have eaten here many times since you opened and the overall standard has dropped significantly
Lovely setting and service
Having been to the Kitchen several times we were very surprised to find very poor serving staff on Saturday lunchtime as the staff have always been so good , the only friendly one was the blond haired mature lady there she was great but only dealt with us at the end ,there was an Eastern European girl that served us who was miserable from start to finish & would hope not to b served by her again she was dreadful
Lovely relaxed dining experience
Hated those awful pork scratchings. Not like the fab ones you used to have.Otherwise everything the usual high standard, esp service from the Polish/Welsh gentleman
Disappointing all round. (Good crocettes). cold limp fries, tough chicken breast burger. Mac Donald’s do a tastier beef burger! 🙁
Absolutely stunning service and food. Followed up by a great drink in the bar and hotel. Thanks to everyone xx
The children’s menu is only junk food and needs to be addressed. We had to pay £22 to order off adult menu for some healthy white fish. There needs to be sausages, chicken sea bass and kids veg eg broccoli carrots peas and other carbs not just chips! Service is good tho. We went back in the evening and our food was ok but not exceptional.
Sadly we left very disappointed with our visit. Whilst the food it's self was nice after a warm welcome from front of house the service we received was extremely poor . The staff varied from sullen to disinterested. Service was very slow and inattentive. After our first drink arrived 15 minutes after ordered we were never again asked if we wanted another . Staff seemed more interested in setting tables than serving us or other customers a beautiful setingand perfectly acceptable food spoilt by something that just should be so easy. Not what expected from somewhere associated with Chewton Glen and James Martin
2.5 hours to serve 2 pizzas, 2 burgers and desserts is ridiculous! Only six tables in service, had to request drinks, napkins, condiments, cutlery and the bill. Tables not cleared for ages whilst 3 staff chatting at the till. Ordered orange squash for daughter but brought o juice. No slice in coke. Knickerbocker should have been described as chocolate (which I would not have ordered) mousse was baked to a brownie. Massively disappointed - All fur coat...
Lovely lunchtime venue. Good food and an interesting place to people watch. Lots going on as in the cookery school and being able to see into the kitchen which I like. Clean and nicely presented relaxed dining. Service could be s little better. No one asked it we needed anything extra when our meal arrived. Serving staff look a little miserable and pre occupied.
Great place, great food and great staff!
I enjoy coming to your restaurant for a relaxed quality meal; however on this occasion the 1/4 inch thick rib eye steak was chewy and tasteless. A shame as everything else was excellent. We will be back, but probably swerve the steak. Your 2 lady waitress's need a pat on the back. The young guy needs to learn English!
Lovely family lunch, something to suit everyone
The food was lovely and the service was good. Only minor thing I would say is that the bathrooms were filthy! They only had one womans toilet but it did not look like it had been cleaned for a few days and not something you would expect.
Lovely food and we all had a great time. Perhaps consider offering a finger bowl when having the tiger prawns Also to state that scoops of ice cream are accompanied by shavings of something, I had to return mine as I did not like these shavings
I had a wonderful Evening, Dining in the Kitchen. I ordered the ribeye steak which was cooked to perfection & the truffle chips which I cannot stop thinking about and cannot wait to return to have them again! The staff were very attentive, family and professional the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly too. I will certainly be back again soon! Thank you
Very good food and service
The food was absolutely beautiful and this was enjoyed in a lovely relaxed atmosphere with attentive service. A wonderful lunch and will look forward to my next visit.
Lovely food, great beer and wine and cool environment
The reason that I have only given two stars for atmosphere is that on booking I specified that it was my 60th birthday and when I phoned through a couple of weeks beforehand I was told that the table would be festive. When my party arrived there was no decoration on the table at all and my daughter was particularly disappointed as she had wanted to bring with some decorations but I told her that The Kitchen were making the table festive. However, The Kitchen is fabulous and I will still return.
Everything was perfect although we spent a lot of money on soft drinks! You should offer bottomless cocktails if you're going to offer bottomless pro secco and Bloody Marys. Other than that, lovely- thank you!
Had a really lovely meal. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Main courses were a real disappointment. My wife ordered the Calzone and I had the Wagyu Beef Burger. Neither of us were able to enjoy or even finish our meals, the burger was so dry and the Calzone was burnt on top and had too much filling which made it soggy.
