About The Kingham Plough
Located in the Oxfordshire village of Kingham, near Chipping Norton, the Kingham Plough has achieved a happy balance between a ‘proper’ pub and an exceptional dining room. The Kingham Plough regularly features in the top 100 restaurants in the National Restaurant Awards and the Top 50 Gastropubs and have won the 2019 National Dining Pub of the Year in the Good Pub Guide. The Kingham Plough continues to be recommended in the Michelin and AA guides amongst many others.
In addition to the dining pub, they have six comfortable bedrooms upstairs to really make the most of your Cotswolds experience.
The Kingham Plough is both child-friendly and dog-friendly, maintaining a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that is comfortable, welcoming and inclusive. It is everything that an exceptional Cotswolds dining pub with rooms should be.
We had been to the Kingham Plough before, but not with the current owners. The welcome and ambience was warm and friendly which always bodes well for how the day will go and we weren’t disappointed. We had a ‘Sunday Lunch’ but it wasn’t your usual overcooked fare, this was a lunch of subtlety, presentation and taste. We all commented that it was amongst the very best that we’d had anywhere, the willingness of the staff to please enhanced the whole experience. If they repeat this standard every week make sure you go, you won’t be disappointed.
Wonderful food. Very welcoming atmosphere.
Not visited for 10 years but will be back soon. Excellent!
Well worth the one hour drive
Excellent food and the staff were very nice. However, steak was served without a steak knife and my partner asked for salad instead of chips which was ignored.
Good food, food service, good price
Great place, well looked after everytine we visited. Made to feel like regulars even though we were only here on holiday
Great pub with a wide selection of food and fabulous Sunday roast - the potatoes were the best.
We absolutely loved everything about The Kingham Plough, EXACTLY how an English pub should be; friendly, cosy, welcoming and the food was truly incredible, possibly the BEST Sunday roast I have ever had, thank you, we'll definitely be coming back xx
Had a Friday night family meal here on our first visit. None of us could fault it - friendly service, excellent menu choice, great quality food and a smart but relaxed atmosphere. Thanks!
Have visited several times recently and always been delighted, will be back again soon.
Great service and food was good although was a little rushed
I don’t eat dairy but was given a menu which had items, that I could eat, marked. I ordered a burger but when it came there were no fries. I asked if there should be fries and the waitress brought some. I was slightly concerned that the reason they didn’t come in the first place was because they contained dairy. The burger had onion chutney, but was quite dry. I then had a vegan desert but it was missing sorbet.
Wonderful pub and amazing food. Quite expensive and service charge of 12.5% altho paid was quite steep, but I guess the norm! In this case for the price you pay for what you get as it was delicious!
We have a lovely lunch an our two little dogs felt very welcome
Tasty and beautifully presented meal for New Years Eve. £75 set menu. There were midnight snacks advertised on menu which midnight came and went with no sign or mention. Neither were we offered any to toast the new year, despite the staff all cheersing, felt a strange end to an otherwise very well organised and fulfilling evening. It took away from the value of the night but I would recommend a standard meal here.
Beautiful cosy pub. Delicious food and service was very attentive. Highly recommended!
Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. This is the second time we have been for lunch , after a nice walk in the area (there are a lot of walls nearby)
Very welcoming pub with attentive staff and great food. We had the Sunday roast and it was very good.
Fantastic, thanks v much we will be back
Delicious food and fabulous Sunday roast. Yorkshire puddings filled with slow cooked beef and pork belly really good. Probably best roast potatoes ever. The room was a little cold by the window and the food not as hot as could be but overall definitely one to return to
James was great. Food was fab
Fantastic pub in Kingham, lovely setting and excellent service. We loved the food and would highly recommend.
Very enjoyable meal, with no pressure to leave the table a very convivial conversation was possible
