About The Kingham Plough
Located in the Oxfordshire village of Kingham, near Chipping Norton, the Kingham Plough has achieved a happy balance between a ‘proper’ pub and an exceptional dining room. The Kingham Plough regularly features in the top 100 restaurants in the National Restaurant Awards and the Top 50 Gastropubs and have won the 2019 National Dining Pub of the Year in the Good Pub Guide. The Kingham Plough continues to be recommended in the Michelin and AA guides amongst many others.
In addition to the dining pub, they have six comfortable bedrooms upstairs to really make the most of your Cotswolds experience.
The Kingham Plough is both child-friendly and dog-friendly, maintaining a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that is comfortable, welcoming and inclusive. It is everything that an exceptional Cotswolds dining pub with rooms should be.
Wonderful, welcoming, spoiling. Thanks so much for such a great lunch yesterday.
The food was fantastic, one of the best roasts we’ve ever had!! The host who greeted us was extremely polite and helpful. The layout of the venue was nice and the pub had a great atmosphere and a great cosy decor to match. The only item we’ve marked down from our experience was the table service which was for the most part good and courteous however a bit slow and forgetful at times, we had to ask 2/3 times for some water for the table and didn’t receive a side we had ordered with our meal but these were quickly resolved. Overall a great experience and somewhere we would recommend to friends and family.
Had to try this place under the new management. Pleasantly surprised by the excellent service and very good food. The menu is also well thought out, so you can have the full 4 course or smaller plates or even a good old burger. The only criticism is that the lighting in the bar area was very bright for a place like this, so it changes the atmosphere. Luckily we were dinning with close friends, but not a place for a romantic meal. We’ll definitely go back
We really enjoyed it - food was a real step on our last visit (about 1y who I think) and value was good too. Dropped a star as I thought the wine list a bit disappointing (id love to see more of the wines available by the glass/carafe). I ended up having a beer but would happily pay £20+ for a great glass of wine. Staff were all very friendly and attentive. Liked the new decor too. We’ll be back again soon!
Gorgeous spot - pub, restaurant, and rooms included. Perfect setting in a quiet village for a stay in the country. Can't recommend the food and atmosphere enough.
My husband and I had a wonderful meal at The Kingham Plough. The service was excellent! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming on a rainy evening.
Great food and lovely staff
Excellent meal and food, lovely pub. Service was relaxed and friendly.
Excellent food and service, we had a wonderful time and would certainly book again when next in the area
One of the friendliest pubs we have been to. Young staff were lovely and helpful, despite being busy on a Friday night. We went back for Sunday lunch which was wonderful. If in the area, we will definitely return. Hope the monkey joke went down well !
Excellent, well informed wine list and delicious food, beautifully presented. Very friendly wait staff and charming mein host! Book early for a Sunday lunch to beat the rush!
We went here for lunch for the first time and were very impresed. The food is delicious and the staff very friendly and attentive. Nice welcoming ambience! Will definitely be coming back! Thank you.
We enjoyed our evening and we loved the atmosphere and the layout of the restaurant , we felt the service was very good friendly and helpful staff . I was disappointed however that we weren’t told about the specials for that day and I only knew anout this as I over heard someone else being told about them . I ordered the pork belly and I had to ask for more sauce as the meat was on the dry side around the edges . Over all we had a nice evening and the dessert was scrummy .
Excellent in all respects. Food was amazing and well priced. Good atmosphere and service. Will return when next in the area.
Service was slow, despite not being many in the restaurant. Silly things were forgotten such as bread ordered but not arriving until we prompted staff after we already received starters. Arctic roll for dessert was disappointing - the star actually was the raspberry sorbet - better to axe the roll and just make it three scoops of sorbet!
Delightful lunch , good food and lovely surroundings.
The food was delicious, fresh and hot, as well as plentiful and the service was over the top.
Food was some of the best I've had for many years, staff couldn't have been more helpful and service was excellent.
Really tasty food
Great staff and the food and atmosphere was great Kath and Rod Bradley
Very good quality food, well presented and served by informed, friendly staff.
Staying at Wild Rabbit but no food Monday or Tuesday evenings so booked Kingham Plough. Great staff and a good menu. Well done !, Kath and Rod Bradley
I had the best roast dinner that I have ever in a pub this weekend at the Plough..... everything was spot on and the service was great too. I cannot wait to go back
An excellent meal and wonderful service, good value for such quality too. Barkham blue is my new favourite cheese :) We’ll definitely be back!
