About The Kingham Plough
Located in the Oxfordshire village of Kingham, near Chipping Norton, the Kingham Plough has achieved a happy balance between a ‘proper’ pub and an exceptional dining room. The Kingham Plough regularly features in the top 100 restaurants in the National Restaurant Awards and the Top 50 Gastropubs and have won the 2019 National Dining Pub of the Year in the Good Pub Guide. The Kingham Plough continues to be recommended in the Michelin and AA guides amongst many others.
In addition to the dining pub, they have six comfortable bedrooms upstairs to really make the most of your Cotswolds experience.
The Kingham Plough is both child-friendly and dog-friendly, maintaining a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that is comfortable, welcoming and inclusive. It is everything that an exceptional Cotswolds dining pub with rooms should be.
Good to see a new system in place with a small but fresh menu. All three courses we had were perfect. Great to take our dog and the informality was great. Hiding your light under a bushel, up the marketing!
Incredible food, wonderful service, lovely setting. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend!
Food was very good. Felt the dining room lacked atmosphere and the waiter was a little bit 'over the top' with his comments.
We have not been to the KP for a couple of years and were really pleased and impressed by the quality of the food, the exceptional warm welcome from the staff and the general ambience. We had a 3 year' old with us who is not easy at the best of times but the staff really engaged with him and helped to make us and him feel very comfortable despite him being the only child in the dining room at that time. The food was excellent. We had the roast beef which was very good quality meat and perfectly cooked. The sides were inventive and delicious. We are almost relieved that we had such a good experience as we can now put this down as our go-to Sunday Lunch experience and look forward to sampling for dinner too.
Outstanding food and friendly service. Deserves a Michelin star
Nice out of the way pub restaurant.
We had such a lovely time and were made to feel very welcome. The food was fabulous and the staff friendly and helpful.
Great food and excellent service, in comfortable welcoming pub in a pretty village.
The Kingham Plough is a charming and comfortable inn. We very much enjoyed our 3 night stay and the food is exceptional. The tempura battered oysters were a particular delight!
The place is great with wonderful staff. We are not giving 5 stars as the portions were quite small but the food was delicious.
Our DBB package was excellent and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Room 4 was lovely. Sitting in the bar post-dinner was very comfortable and relaxing. I would have liked to have seen another vegetarian menu option as Maris Piper potatoes didn't sound very inspired.
Fabulous evening with wonderful food, wine and company. And a great waiter!
Food was nice but incorrectly priced as we were charged more on the bill than the menu stated. Atmosphere in the restaurant was very flat, we were made to feel guilty for being last to leave (at 9:30pm!!!)
We enjoyed the experience.
Atmosphere was great, as was the food and our larger than life waiter made the night very memorable.
Service was great another slice of the very good longhorn beef would have made the meal better
The plough dog was amazing and our waiter was really good
Good food, venue and service. Will go again!
I was really disappointed in our visit which I had been looking forward to. There was a long wait for our starter, over an hour. Our starters were essential some ham on a plate with a few nuts and raw mackerel so I am unsure why the wait. There was a further long wait for the main, when it arrived my steak was very nice and excellent twice cooked chips. However my husbands chicken was like warm and his potatoes COLD. We did not send it back given such a long wait. There was a large group in but there are clearly issues. We were given some free bread initially due to delay but no further apology and then a service charge which was removed on requests. There is potential here but sadly would not return on basis of our experience.
We were twice last week and thoroughly enjoyed it, will be back
Fantastic, been meaning to come for a while and was apprehensive after hearing the management had changed. How wrong!! great service lovely food and great wine. Will be back.
My family and I had a wonderful eveing at The Plough, the food, service and ambience were all fantastic. We will definitely be returning.
As ever, glorious food and friendly service.
Very warm, friendly and good service, v good food - dinner was very good and breakfast excellent. Nice room (room 4) Thanks
The Plough may have changed ownership, I was very disappointed to see a menu which consisted of 4 mains 1 a steak, plus 1 fish, 1 duck and a veggy. The food was perfectly well cooked, but expensive. Something has changed which has left the current offering way below par with its competitors at Bledington, milton, and churchill to name a few. its a shame as the staff are lovely and attentive and the Plough is very comfortable but I won't be going back to eat anytime soon.
