About The Jug & Bottle
Traditional hearty pub in the centre of Heswall, Wirral serving the best in British food and drink. The delicious homemade menu includes a number of all time favourite pub classics along with some creative seasonal specials.
The pub offers a friendly and relaxing atmosphere to drink or dine. The light and airy restaurant offers the perfect setting overlooking the gardens for a spot of lunch or evening meal.
We're a warm and friendly place where well behaved dogs are always welcome in the bar area, there are always some treats and dogs drink for free!
All of the food is sourced locally where possible from Wirral and surrounding farmers to both support local business and also to showcase the fantastic produce that this area has to offer.
In the summer we have a fantastic large outdoor decking which attracts the sun all day and for our more chillier British evenings we have two open fires that create a warm and cosy atmosphere.
The pub has six en-suite guest bedrooms upstairs, so should you over indulge or are visiting the Wirral for business or pleasure, the Jug offers an ideal base.
Service as always attentive but not obtrusive. Food as always first class and great value. Looking forward to our next visit.
Unfortunately we had to wait an hour and a half for food to arrive.. we had a 'sorry' but no reason was given. My fish dish was dry probably as a result of being kept warm??? I also had to confirm twice that I had booked when our table was occupied when we arrived, that was not necessary. Very disappointed. 2 and a quarter hours for nibbles and mains is onerous.
Efficient pleasant service especially considering how busy it was.
Sadly this lunch experience was blighted by inadequate disabled parking spaces and lack of parking bays in general. Even the adjacent public pay and display car park was full. My mother is frail and unable to walk more than a few steps. Waitresses were friendly but the food was extremely slow to arrive and the chips were shocking. Coarse and reheated. Not freshly cooked at all.
A very pleasant efficient well organised place to dine where nothing is too much trouble. All in all I would highly recommend The Jug and Bottle
Another lovely Sunday Lunch at the Jug and Bottle. Went with my mum and mother in-law who were both thoroughly impressed. The sticky toffee pudding was apparently the best my mother-in law has ever had!
Food and service were both excellent. Your portion control is so generous that most of us couldn't tackle a second course!
Completely catered for gluten free guest on my stay. Beautiful and very clean, light room with all facilities at my disposal and no issues. Great price and service. Warm welcome and everything was not too much trouble.
Great food, great atmosphere and really lovely evening
Lovely welcoming setting. Staff very helpful and friendly Amazing food.
We had a lovely evening.
Excellent food served in a lovely setting. Could not fault it.
A little noisy due to baby . Cannot be helped
Very good as usual
Brought my Mum with me this time and yes we both enjoyed our metal once again. We missed the Old Fashion Chips !!!!!! NOt into Chunky Chips.
Always love visiting the Jug & Bottle, lovely surroundings and atmosphere!
Fantastic evening with family friends, staff could not have been better, food was excellent. Thank you
Excellent venue, delicious food and drink. Fabulous service and atmosphere.
Very disappointing Sunday roast for both of us. The food is not consistent. The meat was very obviously bought in and pre sliced not from a fresh roasted joint as indicated on the menu. Frozen roast potatoes and ready made gravy. Really disappointed and thought how easy it would have been to offer a home cooked Sunday roast. Would never return.
Our Waitress was Charlotte and she was incredible. Upon noticing a member of our party was very slightly immobile she offered to exchange chairs for one with arms and provided a cushion too , all without being asked. An absolute credit to the Jug and Bottle
The foh staff were professional, efficient and friendly; the food was well presented, cooked nicely and tasted very good. It was as always, a very pleasant evening.
One of our guests had a meal that was far too salty and this was immediately remove from the bill
Another very enjoyable lunch with the grandchildren,
We had a friend with us who is ill and has difficulty swallowing. Your wonderful staff pre-arranged a finely chopped fish pie and puréed peas for his meal. It was very much appreciated. Our meals were all superb and the serving staff are very friendly and helpful. Thank you for such an enjoyable evening.
