About The Jug & Bottle
Traditional hearty pub in the centre of Heswall, Wirral serving the best in British food and drink. The delicious homemade menu includes a number of all time favourite pub classics along with some creative seasonal specials.
The pub offers a friendly and relaxing atmosphere to drink or dine. The light and airy restaurant offers the perfect setting overlooking the gardens for a spot of lunch or evening meal.
We're a warm and friendly place where well behaved dogs are always welcome in the bar area, there are always some treats and dogs drink for free!
All of the food is sourced locally where possible from Wirral and surrounding farmers to both support local business and also to showcase the fantastic produce that this area has to offer.
In the summer we have a fantastic large outdoor decking which attracts the sun all day and for our more chillier British evenings we have two open fires that create a warm and cosy atmosphere.
The pub has six en-suite guest bedrooms upstairs, so should you over indulge or are visiting the Wirral for business or pleasure, the Jug offers an ideal base.
Great food, good service and friendly atmosphere.
Great food and plenty of choice on menu. Really friendly staff
Had a lovely meal here yesterday. The food was gorgeous, so much so that we should not really have had a starter as we were so full afterwards. Would certainly visit again.
We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal yesterday, thank you. A good varied choice on the menu. Service very good. Will definitely come again.
The service was slow and the food was not that nice..we won't be coming back or recommending and as I was sent by trip advisor the report won't be good either sad ..had good reports I had from others did not come up to expectations. .
It appeared you were very short-staffed as I was showed to my table, asked for a wine list and then ignored for 20 minutes until I caught the attention of a waitress. Food finally came an hour after I sat down. Fish pie, vegetables and bread. The pie was so hot I couldn't eat it until it had cooled down, so I ate the vegetables on their own and the bread as I was very hungry and waited a long time for the pie to be at a temperature I could eat. It was tasty but expensive at the price.
Lovely food and great service, The chips are fab !!!
Friendly staff, drinks were slow to come. Food was tasty.
Fourth visit and gets better every time. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
Lovely evening with very friendly service and delicious food.
Very busy so a slight wait but that wasnt too bad. Bit more training in picking up plates though! One should never lean across the customer which was done twice by a member of more senior staff. Lovely food though!
Sunday lunch was beautiful
Great meal and great service
As always everything was excellent. The amazing chefs always deliver delicious food, served by the friendly waitresses and welcomed once again by front of house staff.
Food was delicious - just took an age to be able to order our wine as no one came back for a long time - but great place and lovely atmosphere and nice surroundings too - we had a lovely evening other than that
Lovely way to spend an afternoon, food as usual was delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. We love visiting the Jug & Bottle and we are never disappointed...
Bbq pork spring rolls were heavy and unappetising. Far too much for a starter. I shared a Fisherman's platter for a main. The whitebait were horrible. Batter was horrible, too heavy and took away from the delcate flavour of the fish. The tratare sauce wasn't even a sauce. The best thing on the whole dish were the chips.. This is not good gastro pub food. Not even mediocre. Shame, because it is a prime location with plenty of potential clientele.
A good meal a bit to loud in the bar but a good experience
Lovely setting and seat with a great view of the welsh hills. Friendly service and great food. Looking forward to trying other dishes.
First time at the "jug", service was excellent, very pleasant staff, it was mid afternoon so fairly quiet, hence the 3 stars, food was well received and enjoyed, clean plates. Will definitely recommend and revisit ourselves.
Always a pleasure staying here. Staff are fantastic and always make you feel welcome
Love coming here! Food is amazing and so are the staff. Can't say a bad word
We have been to the Jug and Bottle a number of times over the past 2 years. This time as always the staff were very polite. However, service was incredibly slow and I was sorry to see the exact same menu, not changing for the 2 years, the vegetarian choice being very limited. I will return only if the menu changes.
Excellent choice of items on the menu.
First visit and the service was absolutely excellent! Food was really gorgeous and very hot. Nice to see little well behaved dogs allowed in the bar. Beautiful views from our table (in the window). Might try sitting outside in the Summer ~ it looked like a really spacious patio area too. Our waitress was particularly helpful and professional ~ very warm and friendly ~ it’s always great to go somewhere where the staff have been trained properly, it makes a tremendous difference.
