About The Jug & Bottle
Traditional hearty pub in the centre of Heswall, Wirral serving the best in British food and drink. The delicious homemade menu includes a number of all time favourite pub classics along with some creative seasonal specials.
The pub offers a friendly and relaxing atmosphere to drink or dine. The light and airy restaurant offers the perfect setting overlooking the gardens for a spot of lunch or evening meal.
We're a warm and friendly place where well behaved dogs are always welcome in the bar area, there are always some treats and dogs drink for free!
All of the food is sourced locally where possible from Wirral and surrounding farmers to both support local business and also to showcase the fantastic produce that this area has to offer.
There is a secluded garden terrace to the rear of the pub that is perfect in those warm summer months and for our more chillier British evenings we have two open fires that create a warm and cosy atmosphere.
The pub has six en-suite guest bedrooms upstairs, so should you over indulge or are visiting the Wirral for business or pleasure, the Jug offers an ideal base.
Fantastic food and service, first visit but definitely not the last, looking forward to the next time.
Had a fantastic lunch- food was delicious & the staff were very attentive, friendly and polite.
Food was delicious as usual and plenty of it! Service was attentive and relaxed - you never feel like you’re being rushed. Will definitely be back, thank you
Lovely food. Large portions. Lovely friendly staff and tuey pull a full pint :-)
Service was a little slower than usual but I believe there was some staff sick leave and I’ve visited many times so know that this was a blip. Credit to the staff though as even under pressure they still remained very pleasant.
Lovely meal great atmosphere
excellent service I booked a table in advance and they had reserved us a lovely one by the window.
I came with my children to celebrate my sons 16th birthday, and we loved it!! The service was attentive and friendly but not intrusive, the setting and atmosphere were both lovely, feeling like we were somewhere special but not 'stuffy' and the food was amazing - beautifully cooked and presented, fairly priced and served in a very reasonable time. We don't get to go out to eat that often so I'm so glad we chose you - we couldn't have asked for better. We have already told family and friends to get themselves down to you, it really was lovely. Thank you so much!
We all enjoyed the food, which was freshly cooked with good quality ingredients, and thought the environment and decor very pleasant. The only downside to our visit was the difficulty in parking, owing to the shortage of spaces in the restaurant car park and the inconvenience of having to pay and display at the next nearest one!
Always excellent food and service when we visit.
Great food at a good price
Unfortunately waitress bumped into chair and unloaded a full tray of drinks onto the floor by the table showering the area in broken glass. Not one member of staff asked whether my table were OK or apologised for the accident. Fortunately no-one was injured by the accident but could easily have been. We had Sunday Lunch - food was average, roast beef over cooked. Service was quick and meals served in good time. Customer let down visit.
Just perfect. Lots of pubs may be closing but the Jug has got the right offering. Great food, well kept and interesting local ale and great service.
Quality food with excellent service. We really love the zoning and decor in the bar and restaurant area - very successful renovation. Would highly recommend for small or larger groups. Only complaint would be the pot holes in the car park - need to push the council to repair these!!
Our waitress was excellent ! We had a great evening .
All brilliant as usual see you again soon
Second time here and really enjoyable experience for our Wedding Anniversary.
Really enjoyed our meal here. There was nothing I could fault!
Lovely food, great service. Will be back
Had a lovely lunch with friends. Fish and chips were lovely and the fish finger butty was delish too!
Regular get together with old colleagues. Booked online this time, having booked twice by phone before to have no table waiting for us as not recorded! Excellent food and service as always. Disappointed when told need to vacate table by 7.30 but happy to be moved to table in bar later.
Excellent food & surroundings
Food excellent as always Service a bit lacking, as we had to chase up drink orders
