It's a true celebration of Cornwall and offers an unforgettable culinary journey, with strong emphasis on seasonal flavours, keeping true to our sustainability ethos.
The Restaurant is open 7 days a week, with dining on the terrace when the sun shines. We offer a welcoming and lively atmosphere, with music playing, guests chattering, cocktails being created and a fantastic wine list to mull over and enjoy.
Glorious day when we were there. In dining room with windows letting in the sunshine. Staff v attentive. Food delicious. Lovely ambiance
Stunning. A perfect dining experience from start to finish. The service was fantastic with every staff member that we came into contact with being a credit to the establishment. The meal itself was lovely and I can highly recommend the pork belly in particular. A must visit for anyone either staying in or taking a day trip to St Mawes.
Superb service! Loved it!
Staff always ready to help with a smile on their face. I always look forward to going to the Idle Rocks to see what new ideas Dorian has come up with on his menu. Yesterday it was crab and grapefruit- delicious!
The team at the Idle Rocks were fantastic. I am lactose intolerant and they did everything they could to ensure I could enjoy the food. Thank you.
Very nice, sophisticated food served in a stunning dining room. Our main course hake was overcooked; otherwise the meal was good. The service was rather over-attentive. Pricey!
Wine was very expensive in relation to the meal - otherwise a lovely lunch
Food and service were superb, especially the Italian waiter that was amazing throughout the whole meal.
A magical experience regardless of the time of year or weather but at is best when the sun is shining and the daylight hours allow sea views from your dinner table. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Wonderful lunch. Great food, local wine, service and setting.
An absolutely perfect dinner - and we have high standards! We could not have enjoyed it more
Food was delightful but a little pricey for the offer . Wine list we’ll chosen and not ridiculously extensive. Generally very good evening.
Excellent food and service service. Best in St Mawes. Only problem is that it is so difficult to get a reservation!
We were welcomed warmly by the staff, and given a comfortable seat by the fire for our drinks, before going to a window table to eat. The view is stunning, and the meal excellent. The menu is varied, and portion sizes allow just enough room to have three courses. The food is expensive, but the quality is exceptional. One of us stated that the cod was the best he had ever tasted. A lovely way to spend a very relaxed lunchtime.
We have booked again for April our 28th year of visiting. Only missed a few when being refurbished etc. never a disappointment
I had a wonderful experience at The Idle Rocks. From ringing to book, which was a nice chat in itself, to the welcome, the service (which was prompt but not hurried at all) - then to the food, which was simply divine! Along with a glass of Cornish wine.... The only criticism, hence four stars instead of five, was that one of the waiters seemed to have his mask over his mouth but not his nose. I couldn't build up the courage to mention it to him.... Wish I had now!
This was our first visit on a very wet Sunday for lunch. A lovely hotel, attentive & helpful staff. Ambience, decor & quality of food superb. Highly recommend & we will return to stay.
First class. We had Sunday lunch at Idle Rocks with our eight month old daughter. We were made wonderfully welcome from the moment we arrived and the staff throughout couldn't have been kinder or made us feel more at home. The food was excellent and we can't recommend it enough, but it was the lovely staff that made the Idle Rocks and absolute winner. We are already going back for supper.
This was my second trip for lunch and both meals have been wonderful. Really friendly attentive service and delicious food.
The staff seemed to cope well with the restrictions required by Covid.
The food was incredible, quite possibly the best sirloin steak I have ever had
Absolutely insane long lunch, idyllic setting and exquisite menu. Perfect!
