About The Horse and Jockey
We are located just a few minutes drive from Bedford, in the friendly village of Ravensden. Come along just for a drink and choose from our extensive list of beers, wines and particularly Gins(!) or sit down for some food. The kitchen produces fresh dishes and our passion for country living influences every element of the ever-changing menu.
Open 6 days a week
Relaxed and friendly
Plenty of fresh fish on the menu - overnight from Cornwall
Lovely lunch thanks. The only thing I would say is to make more of your sandwiches on the menu. I had the steak and mushroom and it was fab.
Such a lovely place for lunch - thoroughly recommend
We had the perfect lunch on an emotional day. Thank you so much for the excellent service.
Excellent as always. Fish Platter and Jerk Chicken very good indeed couldn't make the sweet.. Service as always was excellent.
Lovely, friendly professional staff, very good food and a welcoming atmosphere. A place to visit again and again!
Delicious food and attentive staff.
Always a pleasure to visit. Food never disappoints and the welcome is great
Excellent three courses
Nothing to fault!
Food was fantastic. Atmosphere and decor top notch. Last minute change of plans meant change of venue and I’m really happy about we decided to come. Looking forward to a return visit.
Uniformly excellent food served by helpful and friendly staff. Our first visit but not our last!
Absolutely love dining at the Horse and Jockey, whether it is lunch or dinner. Jemma and all the staff are always welcoming. Feel very privileged to have a restaurant like the Horse and Jockey so close
Fabulous food and super service, never been disappointed and my guest was really impressed with the lunch menu. thank you
Very positive experience. The food and staff were excellent. Well done.
great afternoon,we will be back !! James+Donna xxx
The meal was unbelievable, fresh and cooked perfectly. The service we received was also superb. Atmosphere - my only comment would have been they could have had some background music to improve the ambience.
Food was delicious as always. This time felt portion sizes were smaller and although not rushed the servce was very quick. We were in and out in less than an hour for 2 course meal. It waz lunchtime though and previously we have been in the evening.
A delightful evening - good food, service & ambience at a reasonable price.
Excellent welcome, service, food and drink as usual.
Great food ,Good wine and excellent service. As good as always.
Everything was great until we came to pay the bill and all the staff had disappeared.
One of our regular dining venues, the Horse & Jockey 'ticks the boxes' in so many respects. Bright and airy dining room, cleverly partitioned so that neighbouring tables are not too close, so conversation is unimpeded. Staff all of whom invariably make us feel welcome. Efficient service. Interesting menus. And, above all, delicious meals (not just clever or nice food, but perfect-sized portions of well balanced tasty food. Amuse bouches were unexpected, lovely and whetted our appetites. Starters were equally delicious, with a whole variety of textures and flavours. As a main course, the Catalan fish stew has remained on the menu for years, and deserves to stay there. Lovely flavour, spicy but not too spicy, and with the must luscious, plump, perfectly cooked mussels that I have ever eaten. My companions' pork and lamb were equally praised. Desserts were up to the same standard, my ONLY criticism (no, suggestion, not criticism) is that my summer pudding deserved to be served with clotted cream and not merely 'runny' cream. To end the meal on the same high note, our coffees were perfect. What an enjoyable evening!
My first time at the horse and jockey and it won’t be the last nice food nice atmosphere well done
Excellent Sunday lunch. Fantastic food as always - one of my favourite restaurants. No five stars for atmosphere as it was very noisy due probably to my fellow diners having such a super lunch!
