About The Honours
Having launched the Michelin-starred Restaurant Martin Wishart in 1999, Martin Wishart at Loch Lomond in Cameron House Hotel in 2008 and his exclusive Cook School in 2007, Martin opened The Honours Brasserie to great acclaim in 2011.
Martin aims to further strengthen Scotland's reputation for good food and to inspire others with his unequivocal enthusiasm for the very best traditional and modern French cuisine. The Honours Brasserie represents the exciting next step of his journey.
The restaurant's name makes reference to the moment in Scottish history when Sir Walter Scott — who lived nearby — uncovered the Scottish Crown Jewels, also known as The Honours of Scotland.
In addition, the name owes a debt to a rare 18th century book, "the Honours of the Table". In this celebrated volume, the author, Rev. Dr. John Trusler, advised the youth of the day on table etiquette, exclaiming that: "To do the honours of a table gracefully, is one of the outlines of a well-bred man..."

The food, service and ambiance was excellent. I eat out regulatory with my job all over the country and my clients and I agreed it was the best meal we had, had this year. Waiter was fabulous, I am unable to recall his name, something like Alexio and the barman came to chat and created bespoke cocktails for my guests. Highly recommend!
We had the express menu and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Beautifully presented and excellent flavours.
Excellent. Lovely meal and fantastic service.
Can’t recommend this restaurant enough- food, atmosphere and service was excellent. Will definitely be back. Thank you
We enjoyed a very nice lunch here in October. A beautiful setting, although rather quiet when we visited. Food was fabulous. Delicious and lovely to look at. An alternative dessert offered when one of us didn't fancy any of the options on the menu. Exemplary, friendly service throughout. Set price lunch menu is great value for this standard.
Excellent food, excellent service.
Always very good. Food excellent and service as expected with one disappointment. On booking I was asked if it was a special occasion and I said yes my mothers 85th birthday. I kind of thought they would do something (since they had asked) like a little icing message with the coffee type thing. But nothing so not sure why they asked.
The whole team and wonderful food made it a very special afternoon for us. My husband is a wheelchair user and the staff were so attentive including helping us out to the taxi at the end. Special mention for Alessio who looked after us very well throughout. Everything we had was delicious and well matched with the wine. Thank you - we will definitely be back!
Excellent quality and flavour of food. Good service but could appear a little frantic at times. Overall great food.
Server rushed and cleared plates before we were both finished. Seemed pretty miserable and we felt his approach to us put a bit of a downer on the experience. Food was beautiful and had such care taken but the same care must be taken at the table. Should say, all other staff members were very friendly but naturally you spend more time with your server and this has an impact.
Yet another delightful lunch at The Honours, for me it just gets better and better, staff are all excellent and the food is divine (also the wine), thanks, we will be back xxx
We chose the Honors Table menu and it was delicious. Our waiter even arranged for my friend to have a tasting of the risotto too and switched the partridge for chateaubriand which we preferred without any fuss. Andrea the sous chef came out to explain ingredients that we were all arguing about and was lovely too. All the staff were faultless as was the food. Definitely returning.
The Swiss Cheese Soufflé was divine. The wine and the remainder of the meal did not disappoint either. Staff were friendly and unpretentious. Highly recommend
Great restaurant. Can be a little expensive but for the quality on offer this isn’t really true. Bring back the apple tarte tatin though!
My husband and i took my cousin and her husband who were staying with us for dinner on Friday 4 October. The restaurant was very busy. As a result the staff were working flat out. The lady who served us (blonde hair with a swishy ponytail) could not have been nicer. Three of the party enjoyed their starters.I was the exception. Perhaps I made a bad choice. I had the mackerel and found it uninspiring and not particularly tasty. Our main courses were all very good. There was a long wait from starters to mains. I ordered a side of seasonal green vegetables but it was missed out of the side orders for our table and had to be re-ordered. I specifically asked for a very hot strong latte. When it arrived it was warm. I asked for it to be re-heated and very hot. However I appeared to have been given a new coffee which was not so strong and still warm. I decided not to make a further fuss and just drank it.
Hello Enjoyed the evening. My wife and I both had oysters and Chateubriand. She was violently sick on return home, although I was fine. A rogue oyster? However, good experience generally and staff lovely.
Excellent service and food. Never disappoints. Love this restaurant!!
Very busy and so rather noisy, but staff were friendly and attentive
Ok, nothing special. Tables too close together. Would not go back.
The poor waitress seems to be very inexperienced
Usual excellent service. Glad to see that soufflé is back on the menu. Like this time of year as it is the game season.
Very tasty and beautiful food presentation which made us very impressed. Thank you very much for giving such a nce dinner.
Excellent lunch and great service. The staff were all charming.
Great choice of food on both menus. Pleasant staff and excellent bar and restaurant
Out standing but only surpassed by even better service. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was beautifully presented and prepared. Our annual trip to Edinburgh is always rewarded with a visit to The Honours
