Staff were fabulous and so welcoming especially with our children. Please pass on our thanks!!
Wonderful setting, wonderful staff so friendly and attentive, but the steak was not what I’d expect for £25 at all. It was a little chewy and bland on taste. But the chips and mushroom were beautiful, I just wouldn’t pay that for the steak again.
Very warm welcome, and prompt / efficient service throughout the evening from two lovely young ladies. Hake, Venison and liver meals were very enjoyable. An enjoyable evening outside under cover due to COVID restrictions.
Lovely treat after a year of lockdowns and restrictions, a pleasant space outside . my husband really enjoyed the pie followed by roly- poly! I loved the hake followed by the cheesecake, delicious 😋 thank you.
A terrible experience as our first meal out after Lockdown has ended. The service was appalling - here are the things that we had to ask for: Wine list, wine, bread, cutlery, table to be cleared, spoons for the sides, ice for a drink, salt and pepper, salt to be in the salt sellar. The beef joint was very fatty and almost raw.A cheese burger without cheese! Tables with dirty things on them at the front of the pub when we arrived and when we left two hours later. The beef was knocked off, but the manager never came and apologised. The Lucky Onion group does not train or invest in wait staff. The attitude is that the diners are visitors and it does not really matter. We are local and would like to eat at their restaurants regularly, but after 9 years of hap hazard service in most of them, it might be time for us to give up. It is a systemic issue at all their premises. Such a pity as when it works it is good, but this was embarrassing and shameful, especially after months of being shut.
We found our food ro be a litte underwhelming. Beetroot orange salad lacked punch. The bed I’d white paste it was on did not help. Hake soufflé was good. Kidney on toast - kidneys were dry. Not as good as Wheatsheaf. Chef did make an off menu burger which was hugely appreciated. Many needs to be simple but delicious.
First choice had run out but good burger, quick service, bit pricey, need some cheaper options.
Nice meal in general (apart from one starter which was pretty poor) but main let down was service. Food arrived with no cutlery for all meals and was going cold by the time we got it, had to ask for a high chair 4 times, chips came out when I’d finished eating the rest. Nice staff but completely all over the place
We really enjoyed the night and staff were fantastic. There was a lovely atmosphere helped by the warm gas heaters! Food was lovely but quite pricey - more like a restaurant really than pub food.
.
Wonderful spot for dinner and staff was delightful
Great food, great service and the kids loved it too.
Excellent and the choice of gluten free mains was great particularly fish and chips! Pity the beer delivery was late tho
Lovely food and friendly, speedy service. Highly recommend.
Great outside facility with warm heaters and fabulous service. Food was excellent too.
No complaints it was excellent I’ll be back
Despite chilly temperatures you made us feel welcome and lunch was such a treat. Can thoroughly recommend the pie! We will be back
A lovely country pub in a beautiful village, food was generally very good - the starters in particular were delicious. Very friendly and attentive staff
The staff and the food were wonderful as always. The covid adaptions were well implimented and made a lovely atmostphere. Happy to be back!
Excellent all round as usual, one of our favourite pubs.
Unfortunately I didn’t like the terrine starter and I also found the main meal of turkey was lacking in taste. The cranberry was also overpowering, but of course that is a matter of taste. The reception and service we received was excellent and the two waitresses worked hard and were also attentive. I would try the restaurants again and hope that the meal is more to my liking. Trevor
Food was good but nowhere near as good as last year. No atmosphere at all. Bit of a shame really. Just didn’t feel like Christmas.
Very disappointed to be sat in the bar and not the restaurant, that’s unacceptable when a person books well in advance . Service was terrible which I think was due to us not being in the main restaurant. I would not eat with you again I will stick to the plough in Ford , that is exceptional.
We enjoyed the lunch, with the only issue being that the portions were very large so I had to leave some food.
Lovely late lunch. Good service, good food.
