About The Highbury Barn
An iconic London pub in every sense. Great homemade food, warm, genuine hospitality, cask ales, fine wines & award winning produce.
Everything was great, looking forward to coming back again when we can.
We have been regular visitors to the Barn for years and still enjoy drinking here. We don't feel the adaptations have spoilt our enjoyment!
With Islington in Level 2 lockdown, for a work dinner with two colleagues we needed to book a table outside. The Barn gave us a lovely outdoor table, and the staff gave us attentive table service. The pies are the best in town... we had fun!
Always have a good time in the Barn. Can’t fault it! The service and food are excellent.
We sat outside and usually at the min because of the table service rules if you sit outside you get forgotten about but here we were really looked after and didn’t have to wait long for anything :)
We have visited Highbury Barn Tavern many times, both by ourselves and with family or friends. The food is always delicious, the atmosphere always great and the service spot on. None of these aspects have dropped since we have been dealing with the pandemic. Thanks!
Very lovely staff. Have a regular beer selection.
We really enjoyed our meal which was a celebration for our 27th wedding anniversary. The food was absolutely delicious & the staff who served us were really lovely! We would definitely come back. Many thanks
Considering the new Tier 2 rules came into place that day, staff were very helpful and accommodating and made it an easy experience, with great service in the outside area.
Pork belly roast is delicious!
Food was lovely as always & the service & staff were great.
Great food and atmosphere for the football.
The kitchen closes at 7, which we weren’t actually told. We went to order a dessert at 7.03, and were told that we couldn’t. Other than that, the roast we had was absolutely delicious and felt very safe with COVID. Just need more communication on kitchen times.
Great service and excellent food
Fantastic (apart from the football results - but not sure I can blame HB for that). The whole team takes care to balance the restrictions with providing a great atmosphere and service.
Amazing Roast! Speedy service. Great vibes. Great place to enjoy the football in a lovely setting
Waited over an hour and left after not receiving a menu, asked to move to a table under the heater was told it was for larger groups. Then a different couple got the table. Staff were very grumpy, dirty looks given. Didn’t feel it followed the guidance issued by the government in regards to covid secure operations. Lots of customers not wearing masks. Not insisting on check in, hand wash ect. Tables were not 2 meters apart or any form of barriers between table to have the mitigating factors. Lots of customers shouting, which again shouldn’t happen. Staff came up to us without a mask. Very disappointed
Go here every Thursday for the best burgers in North London. Service is great and can’t fault the place. Even before CoVid, we have never had a bad experience in this place over the past 15 years.
Visited on Monday 29th September to watch the Arsenal v Liverpool game and have some food and drinks. The initial service was ok and some of the food was 50% off. Staff were attentive and were helpful to provide food after the kitchen closed at 8pm to a couple of our party who arrived a little late. The commentary was on the football but not the crowd noise (apparently the police do not allow this). They rang the bell at 9pm for some reason but then said it wasn't for last orders. Apparently the bell was rung again but we didn't hear it. at 9.25pm we were not allowed to buy another drink in order that we could be out by 10pm. Appreciating the difficult circumstances at the moment with COVID, I am still not sure why the bar needs to close at 9.25pm. Normal drinking up time is 20 minutes and in any case people could just leave their beers to leave at 10 or other pubs have put them in plastic cups. When I raised these issues the managers of comments of "don't come back if you don't like it" were surprising. I visited the Woodbine and Bank of Friendship the previous day and they were much more accommodating and reasonable. I will likely return to those local watering holes and avoid the Highbury barn for now.
Superb "tapas" style dishes. Great service from friendly, helpful staff. Very impressed to be offered a choice of Port! We'll be back.
One of the best Sunday Roasts out there
The Barn has been our “local” for over 30yrs. The go to venue for nights out, birthdays etc.
We had an excellent lunch, food delicious, great service & pleasant surroundings. I felt very safe as regards COVID as the pub is very spacious & the staff were well organised. There was clear signage & all the rules were being adhered to. I would definitely recommend!
