About The Hero of Maida
The Hero of Maida (formerly known as The Truscott Arms, a much loved local), comprises a Victorian pub and garden offering cask ales, draft beers and cocktails alongside a comprehensive and daily changing bar menu.
The high ceilinged dining room on the first floor offers a more formal a la carte menu with a list featuring old and new world wines.
Henry Harris and Steve Collins' menu features provincial classic French dishes, British favourites and on Sundays will focus on The Sunday Roast including Roast Chicken, Slow Cooked Shoulder of Lamb, Roast Beef and endless Yorkshire Puddings.
Everything was really delicious, the presentation, the atmosphere and the overall experience. There was one little snag and that was the length of time it took to bring out a small order for my 3year old. We had ordered sausage and chips well befor the rest of the party arrived and I had to ask 3 times about where it was. It eventually came with the rest of the meal. The staff were very apologetic and this was a small part of a lively experience. It would not stop me returning there again.
Very good and well presented food and a fine wine list, really pleasant dining room!
The menu was interesting, the room very pleasant, the restaurant populated by locals. The food was outstanding, service exceptional, and value very, very good. We definitely will return on our next visit to London.
Great local pub. Really enjoyed the upstairs dining room. Food and service were great and the atmosphere perfect. We enjoyed the braised venison and an excellent French red wine from their extensive menu. Highly recommend the place!
This is a fantastic pub. The menu is classic and the cooking excellent. Lovely place.
Another great evening at our favorite pub, thank you for the delicious food and excellent service. We will be back!
Excellent venue with great food and atmosphere for family and friends.
I highly recommend this pub for really good food, very pleasant service and ideal ambience. This is a genuine review. Mark Zudini
Everyone was very helpful and accommodating about our booking.
Probably the best Sunday lunch I’ve ever eaten in a pub. Incredible roasties. Top oysters. The whole roast chicken serves 3, but we two ate the lot. We shall return. Aperitif, sparkling water, bottle of Fleurie, 3 courses, morsel of cheese, coffee. £83 each (incl service)
The ambience at the pub and staff are absolutely lovely! Such a beautiful pub. Shame the food doesn’t live up to name, ‘Hero’! My husband and I are regular Sunday roast goers and we’re shocked by the stingy small portions that you served!! Not good value for money and the food was so so below par. Yorkshire pud was insipid and so was the meat. Sadly will not come back nor refer you to anyone else.
Food excellent. Recognisable from the old days at Racine. When I booked I expected to go to the restaurant, but apparently it is not open at lunchtime. We had lunch in the pub, which was empty. and a bit sad. The people at the next table complained that their food was slow to arrive, but ours came very quickly and it was deleicious. .I cant wait to go back. For the food and in the restaurant
Very tasty. My only gripe is that you serve farmed salmon on the menu which is not sustainable.
Quality ingredients, well cooked. Ambitious pricing, some slightly mean portions (veg). Disorganised if well meaning service. Noisy dining room. Probably wouldn’t go again for lunch, dinner may be a better bet.
The service was lovely but a little slow- drinks didn't arrive until a minute before food. Main gripe though was the teeny tiny portions! Food was all delicious but all four of us left hungry and £12.50 for 3 tiny squares of cheese and water biscuits was really a shame. It's so nearly one of the best roasts but just so stingey on the portions
Great lunch, wine and atmosphere.
Very nice environment and design. Nice food but when the "single" roast comes in a very small amount of food. Plus we were 4 and they gave us the vegetable bowl for 2...we asked for more and then we were billed the extra portion... The tables around us definitely had more food...were just bad luck?!
Great space - good vibes. Tasty food. Will return.
Great service, delicious food and really good value for money. Highly recommend.
Great quality of food and good service by friendly staff. Location is just a tad out of the way but will definitely go again!
Had a lovely meal on Friday evening with a girlfriend. The food, service and atmosphere were lovely. Thank you for a fantastic evening!
Couldn’t have wished for a more delicious Sunday roast!! Thank you
THERE WERE NOT ENOUGH ROAST POTATOES FOR FOUR PEOLE
Excellent food and elegant dining room
