About The Hero of Maida
The Hero of Maida (formerly known as The Truscott Arms, a much loved local), comprises a Victorian pub and garden, offering cask ales, fine wines, draft beers and cocktails alongside a comprehensive and daily changing bar menu.
The high ceilinged dining room on the first floor offers a more formal dinner setting menu with a list featuring old and new world wines.
Our full a-la-carte menu is available within both the pub and the dining room.
Henry Harris's menu features provincial classic French dishes, British favourites and on Sundays will focus on The Sunday Roast including Roast Chicken, Slow Cooked Shoulder of Lamb, Roast Beef and endless Yorkshire Puddings.
Staff was great in accommodating us when our Sunday lunch extended from the planned 3 hours to 6 hours!
A very delicious and enjoyable meal, thank you!
Excellent find. Will definitely return.
Excellent food, really fun pub quiz.
Excellent pub food in a beautiful enviroment
Enthusiastic staff - made to feel very welcome. Lovely food - served very quickly. Efficient service but did not feel rushed. Very pleasant venue.
Friendly, helpful and efficient staff. We loved the wine recommendation and the duck was divine!
Sunday roast was very good. Service very quick but not rushed.
Really delicious food. Shared a whole sea bream which was some of the best fish I have eaten. Service was very charming but not quite enough attention to detail. Didn’t detract though. Had a v good evening and will definitely be back.
Cracking vegetarian Sunday lunch. Read reviews that the service wasnt all that. Staff excellent. Will be back
very friendly and helpful waitress called Sara. Excellent steak tartare and terrine starters. very enjoyable lamb rump.Delicious spring greens
Amazing pub! Love the atmosphere. Fresh food, menu changes regularly. Excellent attention to detail provided by the staff.
Absolutely lovely pub and we were looked after incredibly well for a private event which our guests loved. The team are very slick and we had a great time, thank you Hero
Gorgeous pub. Ground floor area much nicer for a pub experience. Being dog friendly gets bonus points! The wine serving was not consistent, you get better servings at the bar. The food was not consistent either, chicken and lamb to share was great, but the roast beef is literally only one slice - not good value. Service was spotty, floor manager was great, the rest never bothered to come to the table. It is not cheap!
Very good service for this private event organized.
Really nice casual dinning. Food delicious - roast and sticky toffee... with perfect portion size... not too much... but really well thought out.
Lovely and delicious Sunday roast, made perfect with the service and atmosphere!
I sincerely hope more people discovers thos gem!
We had the most delicious meal (really, sublime!). This is the first time I have eaten there and I was truly impressed by the care taken of the ingredients and the cooking. The Cretan wine was also delicious. We are very lucky to have this as a local. Well done all at Hero of Maida.
Food was amazing!!! Service perfect will be coming back.
Great roast. Great way spend lazy brunch.
Slow service when not that busy, food was great when it arrived but a little on the mean side when it came to accompaniments. Staff seemed a little out of their depth. Overall nice pub, just need to be more attentive.
This is not a very welcoming restaurant. The service can Best be described as cold. The FOOD was réasonable. The chips are not as good as The FinancialTimes suggests. The décoration is good but their is no animation in the place. OK but no more.
Excellent lunch at The Hero on Easter Sunday; a perfect way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. The food Is top quality, the portions are generous and the prices are moderate.
