About The Hare and Hounds Hotel
The Beaufort Restaurant
We love good food and dining in the Beaufort Restaurant allows you to enjoy just that – rosette-awarded dishes served within elegant surroundings…
New for October 2017; our relaxed, A La Carte menu combines the best of British with a few infusions from across the channel and aims to showcase the fantastic selection of seasonal produce sourced right here in the Cotswolds. Think quality fresh ingredients, simply served and reasonably priced!
Our friendly team will be on hand to help you choose, offering recommendations on both food and wine, leaving you to sit back, relax and enjoy!
Alternatively, gather your friends, invite the family and make the traditional Sunday lunch that little bit more special.
Jack Hare’s Bar
If Jack Hare were a man, he’d be a chirpy fellow who’d enjoy good food, fine ale and a cosy armchair by the fire he could just sink into with his faithful four-legged companion sat loyally by his side. So we’ve created a lively country pub next door that offers just that. We’ve even immersed man’s (and Jack’s) best friend into the artwork behind the bar, painted by our signature artist Katharine Lightfoot.
With a vibrant ambiance and lots of intimate cosy corners to unwind in, friends come together and locals gather to feast on a plate of sumptuous food and a glass of fine wine throughout the day. Our bar menu is indulgent yet simple and designed to satisfy your cravings from breakfast through to dinner with a delicious bite for lunch in between. There’s a fabulous selection of ales and ciders, an inspiring wine list or a traditional gin and tonic, whatever your tipple may be, our friendly bar staff will be ready to serve it to you. During the warmer months, relax outside in the summer sun.
Please note that booking is not available for Jack Hare's Bar.
An enjoyable stay. It was very much what we were looking to achieve; a traditional and comfortable hotel with good food and drink. We had a great room (14) which was very comfortable. The service was generally good; a few of the receptionists were lacking in welcoming skills and were a bit frosty. The Beaufort restaurant staff were very good, friendly and attentive. I was very disappointed that staying in a 'superior' room in an inn of this price point we still had cheap and inferior coffee sachets in the hotel room. I've stayed in several hotels recently in a lower price point which offer Nespresso machines in the room (The Bristol in Bristol being one the night before staying here) so I thought was a very poor offering from the H&H. Food was fairly good; occasionally it felt like some of it was Brake Bros finest which detracted from the overall offering. Also, some attention to detail was lacking; curtains hanging in public areas were off their hooks and were dirty, handprints of the inside of our bedroom windows, ripped furnishings on the chair in our room.....However, on the whole it was very good and if I was staying in the area again I would consider the H&H.
Why don’t your waiting staff wear masks?
Amazing, lovely place 🥰
The service, ambience and quality of the food made for a fine.dining experience.
Excellent service, good atmosphere, great food
Staff attentive and professional. Good excellent.
Highly recommend. Food and service were excellent in beautiful surroundings.
Lovely service and meal.
Dining room very drab. Curtains need to be replaced as coming away from the poles and dirty material. Very boring music and just no atmosphere. Very attentive staff and quite good service. Food quite good but needs to change from lunch menu to an evening one
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Hale, thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback and your kind words regarding our staff and service. After reopening we created a reduced menu for lunch and dinner according to produce that we knew would be readily available for our team to order. Knowing that this would limit choices we decided to offer our lunch menu along side our dinner menu so guests would have a wider selection of dishes to choose from. We are sorry to hear that this led to your dissatisfaction and you found our dining room to be somewhat drab. We are happy to announce that we are in the process of changing our menus and are looking into a refurb of the restaurant. Hoping this experience has not put you off visiting us in the future we look forward to welcoming you back to the Hare and Hounds Hotel. Kind regards, Mangement
Beautiful, character hotel - recently refurbished to a high standard. Superb, well sized and very comfortable room. Staff so warm and friendly and service highly attentive and great COVID standards/attention to detail with supreme cleanliness. Restaurant is superb too, with excellent breakfast and highly recommended top quality dining for dinner. Thank You team for a memorable and highly valued few days in the Cotswolds.
A lovely room with great surroundings and excellent food and service
Fabulous food and service.
The atmosphere was excellent and the service could not be faulted however we felt the menu offered limited choice and was expensive
Lovely atmosphere and good service for a varied menu choices. Enjoyed a pre dinner drink on the patio and just had a really pleasant evening on good surroundings.
Excellent weekend stay
Lovely meal in a beautiful setting. Friendly and attentive staff.
Fabulous Hotel in a beautiful setting. The rooms are lovely, food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Also very dog friendly which is a bonus. We stayed 4 nights and would happily have stayed longer. We will definitely return for another visit.
For our first visit to the hotel it was a really great experience and all of the staff went above and beyond to help with this. Thank you for your hospitality.
Reallly impressed with the restaurant team (breakfast and dinner)
The food was delicious and the service was very good. However, although the staff took our orders correctly over the 2 night we ate in the restaurant, the kitchen sent out the wrong food several times, especially at breakfast. One evening the chips were missed off, and when I ordered deacaff tea I received regular tea. At breakfast I ordered scrambled eggs and received poached, asked for mixed toast and received all white, etc. Small, but important omissions that slightly marred the experience. The kitchen was obviously getting the orders wrong, not the waiting staff.
Aside from the staff who, on the whole (bar the sweaty, stressed waitress), tried to be friendly, this was a highly disappointing and underwhelming experience. Food was overpriced and amateurish - £9 for a chicken sandwich on stale bread and with rubbery chicken. Pasta which was like chewing a tyre in texture and flavour. Massively overpriced for the quality on offer. And a flat Pepsi to be the icing on the cake.
We received a very warm welcome at the Hare and Hounds and the staff were, without exception, thoughtful and considerate. Nothing was too much trouble and we would happily return for another getaway. This is a well run hotel with staff wanting you to enjoy your stay.
Lovely food and great service
Best dessert I've ever had, the chocolate Valrhona
Mostly good to very good with the occasional disappointment i.e. the bathroom is cheaply fitted and the shaver point didn’t work. Otherwise our room was comfortable and spacious. The lounge and dining room were full of character but the partridge for dinner was inedible and the replacement partridge was not much better. Overall we enjoyed our stay with friendly, efficient and helpful staff.
