About The Harbour Inn
This cosy old inn is steeped in the character of Blackshore fishermen of yonder year and the memorabilia they’ve left behind. It has two cosy wood-panelled bars, which are unusually on two floors, and a dining room.
You wouldn’t expect anything less than the freshest seafood being served when you have a harbour side kitchen.
Here at The Harbour we take great pride in sourcing and serving the very best of the catch of the day, with much of the fish we serve being caught by local fishermen from the Lowestoft fishing boats wherever possible. Of course, there is something for everyone with a variety of non-fishy homemade dishes from the ovens and stoves.
The food was excellent , we always love The Harbour Inn. We sat outside as per the regulations and enjoyed views of The Harbour . I would only say that perhaps the service was a bit slow , but given the current circumstances it was possibly unavoidable
We had a lovely sheltered lunch outside. Food was delicious and staff were friendly and helpful.
The staff provide an excellent service and always have
We had a fab time! We were celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary. I let them know this and that we had our wedding reception there in 2017 but no response to that. Food and service was okay.
Fish and chips excellent as usual.
Think fish was frozen? At the price should be fresh.
Great food, really lovely waiting staff. A happy early dinner in the sunshine. Thank you!
Great food and beer. The prawn curry was delicious.
Fish finger Sandwich was HUGE.
Very grateful for the excellent and prompt outdoor service, and the precautions that have been taken against COVID!
The staff were really friendly. They explained the COVID routines, everything was well organised & the team made the whole experience really enjoyable. The fish n chips were scrumptious. Thank you to everyone c
Always great food and service - good to be back!
Down rated atmosphere as outside due to COVID restrictions and a bit windy which is not of course the fault of The Harbour.
Very friendly service and dog made welcome. It seemed quite expensive though hard to compare
The atomosphere mark was low because of the lock down restrictions. The staff worked well and were very wecoming and the food was very good.
Same as most places prices have increased since lockdown
Great service, great food and so glad of the effort to keep open with so many restrictions. Thank you. Can’t wait until we visit again.
Fabulous fish curry, polite and personable service. Lovely views out front and back.
Have eaten there for years and this time we were very disappointed with the tiny serving of Suffolk Smokies. Same great taste but would appreciate a better portion size. Excellent service, excellent beer.
Cheery friendly staff, safe Covid procedures and set up. Very fine Adnams bitter, excellent mushy peas, curry sauce and thick chips only let down slightly by the fish that wasn’t the freshest or was over cooked. Couldn’t spoil our first post Covid lunch looking back at Southwold from the terrace though. Not even the rain shower could do that.
It's not the cheapest place to eat but the food is delicious, service good and it's a lovely place. On a nice day, enjoy eating outside with views across the marshes to Southwold.
Superb smiley service despite the rain! Will definitely come back.
Advance booking was easy but one had to examine the menu online beforehand - a QR code for a website on the table does nothing if you do not have a smartphone. Food was very good and nicely presented, drink is Adnam's so nothing to complain about there! Atmosphere was pleasant in the enforced outside setting given good weather on the day but if a sharp easterly was blowing in then not so nice. Service good to begin with but tailed off, had to wait quite a while for plates to be cleared, request extra drinks and to order coffees - which were served (and initially charged) to the wrong table. Overall good value for money and we will of course be back, weather and rules permitting!
Wife and I booked an outside table for lunch twice in our week's holiday in Southwold, visiting on Mon 3rd and Fri 7th May. On both occasions, the service provided by the front of house guy and a particularly jolly waitress was excellent - unfortunately we didn't get their names, but we provided positive feedback to the waitress who was very appreciative of being appreciated! On the Friday we did have our order taken by a rather gormless young lad - the contrast in service level was striking and I hope the owners know who their star staff are and reward them accordingly. I highly recommend the fish "finger" sandwich and the Adnams is well kept. Good experience both times despite Covid restrictions and iffy weather.
Friendly, efficient service, good food at reasonable prices.
