About The Harbour Inn
This cosy old inn is steeped in the character of Blackshore fishermen of yonder year and the memorabilia they’ve left behind. It has two cosy wood-panelled bars, which are unusually on two floors, and a dining room.
You wouldn’t expect anything less than the freshest seafood being served when you have a harbour side kitchen.
Here at The Harbour we take great pride in sourcing and serving the very best of the catch of the day, with much of the fish we serve being caught by local fishermen from the Lowestoft fishing boats wherever possible. Of course, there is something for everyone with a variety of non-fishy homemade dishes from the ovens and stoves.
Well organised. Great service and delicious food, as usual!
I am so impressed with the service we experienced, particularly in regard to Covid safe measures. We had lots of space & staff went above and beyond in my opinion. Food was excellent & served quickly.
Great food, great staff!
Lovely friendly young staff !
Friendly and courteous service. Good sized portions. Difficult to really gauge the atmosphere due to Covid restrictions.
The staff were very professional managing the C19 restrictions whilst being polite. The layout of diners was good, and most importantly the food was very good.some might say that the service was slow buts that we weren't rushed,I felt the latter.
Very disappointed that having booked a table more than 2 weeks previous we were directed to an empty bar without any atmosphere we then found out during our meal that there was a dining room with plenty of other people and a nice atmosphere. I do think the waiter should have made us aware of the dining room and given us the choice - not good.
Hello, great location on a lovely day. Ate upstairs, excellent service, perfect fish and chips washed down with a couple of pints. Despite these uncertain times Covid secure without being overbearing. Thanks. Mike
Super service as usual and COVID distancing very well organised.
Service a little chaotic but possibly due to Covid restrictions - should be no excuse though. Excellent food. Happy to try again.
Don’t wait!! Make a booking. Never fails to please, visited on and off and always good food and ale.
Fabulous food and server's were great particularly under the circumstances with having to wear masks poor things!
Fabulous service, incredibly generous portions and all very delicious. Thank you! The vegan options we expectional!
We had a lovely meal. Thank you to all your friendly, helpful staff.
These reflect current times due to COVID-19. Would have scored higher but that said the staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Food was great as was the desert we shared due to being satisfied with the main dishes.
We had an evening meal here on 9 Sept. Having not been for a number of years, I was keen to take my husband to this lovely spot. Social distancing measures are all in place. Service was at best frustrating. We arrived early and were shown to our table, and repeatedly asked if we were ready to order. Due to Social distancing, you review the menu from your smartphone.... which is a great idea. We’d only just worked this out when we were asked if we were ready to order. On the drinks front, there was no sparkling water available however we were told we could have soda water .... which was good ... until the bill arrived and we realised it was approx £2.20per glass. We’d had 4 glasses by then, but had been charged for 5. On the food front, our starters arrived ok - Whitebait to share. It was reasonably good - however when the table was cleared the cutlery was left ? - strange. My husband’s main course arrived and the Server said he was going back to collect mine ..... when he returned I was asked what my order was ... it obviously hadn’t been processed as my main meal followed about 25 mins later. Just disappointing. The meals were OK. With a little thought the experience could have been better - I had the pair of ‘slip Soles’ so a plate to have put the bones on would have been great, and a fish knife appreciated. There were, we think, 3 members of staff working when we were there. They appeared to be keeping things ticking over.... but that was about it .... There wasnt any real customer service. We decided against having any dessert or any more drinks and walked back into Southwold
We were seated downstairs next to the room with all the laundry in. It was quite dark down there and a bit chilly. The bench seating was pretty hard. The food was excellent though and the staff were great.
Suffolk ham delicious. Service helpful and friendly
Everything about the Harbour is wonderful - location ,service, food, drink, the pub itself and even the other customers. It was a step back into the halcyon days of six months ago .The only problem with giving a truthfully glowing reference is that it will become even more popular.
Great food, great service, a really nice evening.
Lovely food, beautiful setting, attentive staff. Very good.
We are local to the area and always choose to eat out at the Harbour Inn as a family. Friendly staff, lovely fresh food and a great atmosphere all year round. Well worth a visit. 🌟
Very friendly and helpful Staff. Food was of a high standard.
Fantastic as always
Very friendly staff and large portions of food
