About The Half Moon
The Half Moon is a country pub, restaurant and kitchen garden located in the beautiful village of Kirdford, West Sussex.
Honest, organic and home from home are just some of the values we hold close and our guests can expect flavour and quality to be at the centre of everything we create or do.
From a la carte to tasting, we offer a selection of menus inspired by the seasons and the ever-changing Sussex Downs. In addition, we utilise quality British produce sourced as locally as possible.
Our beverage list is diverse and constantly evolving to ensure our guests can enjoy local real ales, craft lagers and fine Sussex Wines.
Whether you visit our garden room, restaurant, lounge or terrace, we encourage you to sit back, unwind and let our friendly team look after you.
Excellent lunch as always, food totally delicious and great service.
A great birthday lunch for me. Staff were so attentive and food and wine were superb. Haven’t really had better in this kind of pub and we will be back even tbough it’s an hour and a quarter away! David
My fav pub in West Sussex and there are lots of good ones and luckily it’s near to me The most Delicious roast on Sunday everything was perfect The best Bloodies and great wine list and good pale rose. Great service and smiley staff and The best Landlady #jodiekidd Brilliant for kids excellent menu the only bore is the parking
Excellent visit!! We have been looking for a great Sunday Lunch for ages, and now we have found it!! We will be back often! Thanks you Half Moon team.
Consistently good food and drink - excellent staff - knowledgable polite and welcoming
We really enjoyed our first visit to The Half Moon. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Atmosphere was lovely and relaxed. We went on a Sunday and were looking for a good roast dinner. Between us, we had the roast beef and the roast pork, both were cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth and came with wonderfully crunchy and flavoursome roast potatoes and great seasonal veg. My only complaint would be that the food wasn't hot enough when it got to us... Would have been lovely if there had been a hot option on the dessert menu.
Very nice evening lovely dinner friendly waitress and waiter.
Superb service from the outset by Emily with drinks quickly served and food order taken promptly. All the dishes were prepared and cooked to perfection - only observation was that the Crayfish starter and ravioli main portion size was a bit small. Definitely eat with you again. Emily's knowledge of the local vineyards was excellent.
Food was amazing and the staff were so friendly and very helpful. Definitely worth another visit.
We had a large family gathering for my 40th birthday and I am so pleased I booked the half moon. Their attention to detail is perfect. I had absolute trust that we would have great service and food. Louise you are a credit to your profession. Well done to the whole team at the Half Moon. Thank you.
Friendly, charming & efficient service. Delicious food. Looking forward to another visit ! Highly recommend.
Great, attentive service and really sensational food. A real treat.
Lovely afternoon in the garden in Feb!!
Food was very good menu had many things you do not normally see on the run of the mill menus all in all a very nice evening out .
Pleasantly surprised. Good plates of food, not too small, but excellently presented and taste to match. Beer and wine spot on and service exemplary. What's not to like?
We had a lovely lunch but were quite surprised to find the pub empty, especially during half term. This had quite an effect on the atmosphere, albeit the pub is done up beautifully, is very friendly and welcoming. I felt the menu to be a little limited (lack of meat dishes?) and perhaps needed a few of the good old pub favourites - I do appreciate though that you may be aiming at quite modern menus but I just wonder if this is putting some country goers off? We are simple people after all and often choose to go to a pub rather than a restaurant for exactly this reason. There are very clever modern and appealing ways one can make original pub dishes up to date and popular. You could perhaps price these dishes slightly cheaper, albeit I certainly didn't find the prices unnecessarily high. Staff absolutely lovely and service very good. When looking up your website, I can't help thinking I may have been slightly put off by all the additions of Mothers Day, Summer Soltice, Curry House etc etc marketing being quite so visible - perhaps just an Events page so your site is much easier to navigate and work your way round - IE. just keep these under Events rather then listing them all in full. Hope these help, certainly not intended as negatives and thank you for a lovely lunch! Claire
We came here for my Dad's 70th birthday lunch and had a wonderful time - the food was exceptional and the service was great. We had a small wait for our table when we arrived but the host kept us reassured. All the staff were friendly and accommodating and dealt with any issues quickly. We will definitely be returning.
Excellent service and pleasant staff made our visit most enjoyable. The food was great, very difficult to find a restaurant to make good roast potatoes, I nearly asked for seconds. The flavours in my crab starter were wonderful. Thank you
Had a great evening on Saturday 16th Feb , we all enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff were all well informed and happy . My only feedback would be that at times the staff were "Over Attentive " , for example I was asked 4 times by two different staff " Was my starter ok " …..I know you cannot win here , but it was noticed by the 4 of us . A minor point but worthy of a mention . Thank You
A great pub/ restaurant in the sussex countryside, the atmosphere in the pub is warm & friendly, the service& food menu & quality in the restaurant is excellent.
Loved it but thought a little pricey for cheeseboard Lovely location too!
A lovely cosy pub with superb staff , so welcoming and friendly. Food is always good, slight disappointment though ... what’s happened to all the delicious little home made breads ? They were missing on our last two visits ☹️ That said , the whole experience is one that makes you want to keep coming back .
Brilliant food and service. We will be back!
food was ok only . location and setting lovely . staff fine and friendly but not outstanding
