About The Half Moon
The Half Moon is a country pub, restaurant and kitchen garden located in the beautiful village of Kirdford, West Sussex.
Honest, organic and home from home are just some of the values we hold close and our guests can expect flavour and quality to be at the centre of everything we create or do.
From a la carte to tasting, we offer a selection of menus inspired by the seasons and the ever-changing Sussex Downs. In addition, we utilise quality British produce sourced as locally as possible.
Our beverage list is diverse and constantly evolving to ensure our guests can enjoy local real ales, craft lagers and fine Sussex Wines.
Whether you visit our garden room, restaurant, lounge or terrace, we encourage you to sit back, unwind and let our friendly team look after you.
No petit fours with coffee and no explanation or apology when asked why not.
Definitely will be coming back. Absolute perfect example of a British country pub!!
A great food experience. We even saw Miss Jodie Kidd pop in for a bottle of wine !
Absolutely amazing food and location we had a fab birthday meal.
Service started a little slow but seemed to pick up when additional staff came on shift. Food was great and staff were very friendly
We traveled from Kent to try the half moon, I must say the food is the best food I have ever tasted! Thank you for a wonderful experience. Emma & Brad
Food was excellent. Service attentive without making you feel rushed. Well worth a visit.
A lovely evening great food, service and an interesting quIz to take part in if so desired
We loved our meal yesterday. The food was delicious, its appearance was both artistic and very tempting. I especially loved the rabbit. It can be rather a temperamental dish but mine was succulent and delicious. Its accompaniments were varied flavours that enhanced the flavour of the rabbit. My peach melba was such a treat - a lovely blend of flavours. The waitresses were attentive and friendly: perfect hosts. The decor in the dining room is a rather spartan and that does affect the atmosphere but I really liked the rosehips with rosemary on the tables.
We booked for Sunday lunch as your web site menus said you had vegetable wellington on the menu on line but that wasn’t the case. My roast pork didn’t have any crackling and the cauliflower cheese had a very strong flavour as if made with goats cheese. Saying that, the rest of the vegetables were very nice although could have been served hotter.
Food was delicious and we were served by very attentive staff. We will definitely be visiting again in the very near future.
Very friendly, good service, interesting food. Far left dining area very dark.
Now that was a meal; had to go home for a snooze before getting on with an afternoon of work. Super service, amazing quality and a really nice place to spend a couple of hours. Thank you
Our favourite pub/restaurant in the area. Jodie has an amazing team - so professional, welcoming etc. Food fantastic and great vfm
We had an excellent meal with food of a high standard. A bottle of delicious Provence rosé. Pleasant, efficient service. What more could we ask?
Fabulous meal and service. Will highly recommend.
This is one of my favourite pubs in the area. It’s beautiful, the food is beautiful and the staff warm and welcoming. The roast beef is some of the best i’ve ever had. Really worth a visit. We have visited twice with our young baby and they have never made us feel awkward, just relaxed and at ease and couldn’t do enough for us.
Enjoyed a really nice Sunday lunch here this weekend. Granted the prices are a little on the high side but the food was very nice. I had the beef which was cooked to perfection. A very friendly atmosphere from both staff and other customers. If I had to provide some constructive criticisms it would be a larger selection of food on the Sunday lunchtime menu.
I felt that the quality of this lovely Pub,/Restaurant was somewhat spoiled by the unnecessary background music. Otherwise we found the visit extremely pleasant
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The food was delicious and tasted every bit as good as it looked. The staff were warm, welcoming, charming and attentive. We enjoyed the sunshine in the gorgeous garden but the restaurant inside was buzzing with atmosphere on the Friday lunch time that we visited so we will definitely be back.
We had a 12.30 reservation and ordered at 12.50. We then did not get our food for nearly an hour. Too slow, particularly for my 86 year old mother......
we were looked after very well . front of house excellent. good to see Primitivo back on the wine list
Great food and friendly service. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic evening yet again! Louise was so warm and welcoming and the food was fantastic. We will definitely be back for another visit.
Fabulous food, great service and impressive wine list! A real gem!!
