About The Gurnard's Head
A dining pub with rooms on Cornwall's Atlantic coast between St. Ives and St. Just, near the Minack Theatre, Zennor, Penzance and Newlyn. Food that you want to eat, that is strong in flavour and spirited, cooked beautifully and ingredients sourced locally. Our short, fresh and seasonal menu changes every day according to what is brought to our back door or what our chefs feel is at its seasonal best.
Lived up to expectations. May try to book a room next time we visit
You set your bar very high, but it's no problem to you. Glad to see GH up and running in good rude health.
Lovely meal. Food was excellent and a warm welcome.
This was our second visit on a wet and windy day taking a break from walking the Coast Path. We enjoyed our lunch very much.
Wonderful food in an extraordinary location. Get a table by a window and you can stay for hours.
Booking by telephone wasn’t pleasant. A brusque, unhelpful person made it seem to me that not every EDS customer mattered. I gave up with him, and with not too much trouble booked online. The experience at the restaurant was flawless. COVID arrangements worked well (although a shame, if understandable, that we couldn’t drop in for a pint when we walked past the day before our meal). Attentive and informative servers; the food met all our expectations. It really healed a family reunion go very well. A side note: I think some of the wine is overpriced, but still very good nevertheless and well-sourced. We visit GH maybe 2-3 times a year and are always pleased with the food more than . (BTW, as we also spwnd New Year at Capel Y Ffin, and viait Felin Fach Griffin we can compare these two EDS establishments. Gurnard’s Head is currently the superior of the two - judged by food and atmosphere iMHO)
Fantastic food and the innovative menu online made it easy to order! A friend recommended the restaurant and they have received a big thank you!
A lovely setting, very welcoming with delightful food and excellent service
What a very special place - will definitely be back
A delicious lunch in the garden - mussels were superb, as were meatballs, steak and duck. Puddings also scrumptious and service was efficient and friendly.
Delicious well-cooked and presented dishes - we had the rump steak and the plaice. Desserts equally good - the sticky toffee pudding was meltingly light and scrumptious. Wines except for house wine very expensive. A pleasure to be allowed to have our dog with us especially indoors and for something more than pub grub. Service was efficient and courteous, although lacked any sort of personal touch.
Soup was delicious but rump steak was tough and not nice to eat for both of us, honestly a bit disappointed with the meal. Staff did not ask us how our food was and were not very attentive. My husband came home and ate again as simply not enough food for him. Sorry won’t be recommending or coming again. Poor value for money.
Forgot our wine and our side order which they said would not be on the bill but it was Tipped 15 % For their pleasantness but they are not at all efficient
Lovely relaxing meal with attentive staff
Beautiful food as usual, everything was delicious and very fresh. We were well looked after and I was very proud to bring my visitors to The Gurnard’s. They tell me they can’t wait to come back next time they are in Cornwall.
All I can say is EXCELLENT
Lovely location and rustic feel, although felt the ploughmans lunch was pricey for the content
Outstanding food and service and well worth the journey to such a beautiful location. Fantastic experience , will return and will certainly recommend 👍
We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch which we thought was exceptional. It was the first day of our holiday so was particularly appreciated. We would come again next week if you had any availability!
Bleddy gorgeous! We were not typical diners - two vegans and a vegetarian celiac, but we had great menu choices and the food was amazing! I loved how the veg was at centre stage! Service was great and we felt covid secure. Can't wait to go back!
Another lovely lunch at the Gurnard’s Head. We’ll be back next time we’re in Cornwall!
Beautiful food in a lovely setting. Me and my partner took my parents and his for an early dinner in September, we look forward to coming back.
Excellent food, great service and lovely scenery.
We always enjoy the excellent food at the Gurnard’s head
What a great find. The food has to be the best in the area (even St Ives). We would love to stay here. Great relaxed atmosphere, lovely staff. It is a haven of warmth.
