About The Westerwood - Grill Restaurant
Overlooking the splendour of the 18th, across to the rolling Campsie and Kilsyth hills, The Grill Restaurant is a fabulous setting to enjoy great food anytime of the day. Whether you have just finished a round on the golf course or taken some time out in the Leisure Club, the relaxed setting and varied menu in The Grill Restaurant make it the perfect setting to enjoy a lovely meal with colleagues or friends.
Everyone was very welcoming unfortunately I became unwell and was unable to eat most of my meal. A lovely touch was that when I got home a nice get well wish was written in the lid of the box. Hopefully the next time I visit I will be more successful and manage to enjoy my meal.
We were at the hotel for two nights. The first night we really enjoyed the food however the second night was disappointing. The restaurant itself was very cold and we had to wait over an hour for our first course (of which some of it was wrong). When the bill came we were advised that our food allowance covered the bill however when I went to check out I was faced with a £70 bill! It was a real shame...
Our Dining experience was poor and kind of ruined our evening during our spa stay. Staff were nice and were very apologetic but I found a hair in my starter and my main was sent back twice due to being filled with chilli chunks! Never really ate and after sending a main back twice I did not want to wait on any more food being cooked!
Great service trailered to all our needs and requirements . Well presented . Thank you to all staff
We were originally booked in to Flemming's Restaurant for dinner, but were then told we were dining in the Grill Restaurant. Whilst the meal etc., were just as good, I felt the atmosphere was different (i have dined in Flemming's before), and not just as special.
If the hotel and dining room were warmer it would have been a bitter experience as we were freezing cold
Steak was lovely. Although serving it on a flat slate, even with a rim is not good. Especially when it is served with tomatoes that run when you cut into them. An oily mushroom and very watery peppercorn sauce. Even the waitress ended up spilling all the juices over the table when she cleared it.
Service was terrible .
This is our second visit and was a reduced rate as we did not have a good first visit. First visit was to celebrate my birthday. Second was for my daughters 40th. Both memorable for the wrong reasons. Things that were not good the first time have not improved. Restaurant very cold. Slow service. Food in second night was better than the first except that the desert menu already had two off at the beginning of the night which left little choice. Breakfast bacon was like leather, toaster either gave white bread or burnt, pancake machine not working. Fire alarm at 10.45pm left some guests outside in the pouring rain in pyjamas while some got to stay in the reception area. We were outside for 40 minutes it was an absolute shambles as no one seemed to be giving any direction. Given a second chance will not get a third.
We ate in this restaurant for both afternoon tea and dinner. We liked that there was a mocktail included. The variety of sandwiches were nice. There were no plain scones available which was disappointing for a few members of our party, The fruit scones that we did get seemed to have been previously frozen as were hard around the outside. As I have visited the Westerwood, 5 times already, I have always enjoyed a high standard of food and was very much looking forward to dinner, unfortunately, we were left bitterly disappointed. The drinks were were things started to go wrong when we were served a WARM white wine. When we queried this, we were told that this is how they served all wine other than prosecco and champagne. A little later they 'found' a bottle that had been in the fridge. The starters were fine and the main meals were average, other than the steak which has a very strange after taste and was therefore sent back to the kitchen. The duty manager tasted this and agreed that the steak was off. An alternative meal was offered and arrived quickly but to be honest this was really the least that should have been offered after the 2 major mistakes( wine and steak). The Taste of Scotland dessert was enjoyable but the brownie sundae seemed to lack ice cream. In the past I have recommended the Westerwood to many friends and family but after this visit, I'm not even sure that I will come back myself, very disappointed.
came on the Autumn Spa Break had a light afternoon tea the mocktail was a lovely unexpected addition, the upgraded leisure facility was great I liked the steam room which was scented with eucalyptus, the Spa Facility was very Moroccan looking the only issue we had was people speaking loudly in the relaxation area, restaurant at night good food and in the morning extensive choice of food my daughter would have liked the porridge made with milk but that is a personal thing, girls on Reception pleasant and knowledgeable
Lovely meal with great service & very friendly staff.
The westerwood was great for a night away it was my birthday and my husband booked up for a overnight and dinner which was lovely the staff go the extra mile to make sure u enjoy your stay the young man at reception was very good he checked us in and asked if we need any help with cases and he also checked us out the next day we used the swimming pool and jacuzzi which was so good this is my third year going for my birthday and we will go back well done westerwood was a fantastic night
Excellent service and food, staff polite, friendly and helpful.
Brilliant service, beautiful meals and outstanding attention to detail
Menu could be more varied on a daily basis and the choice of dishes could be increased.
Steak was lovely. Staff worked really hard. Thanks.
Excellent service and lovely meal drinks slightly overpriced but excellent value on the dbb stays
Great service and great food.
Requested one of three rooms early so we could decorate for a birthday. This wasn't available which was fine but we ended up not getting in the room until half an hour after advertised check in time. Requested for Pressecoo glasses in the room and these were also not provided. Slightly disappointing. Room itself was very nice and was cleaned to a high standard. Spa treatments and pool facilities were very good. Lunch dinner and breakfast food were all very nice but hotel prices make accompanying drinks very expensive.
Great service and lovely staff. We really enjoyed our dinner and the whole experience, thank you everyone. Keep up the hard work and high standards
Wonderful service start to finish. Attentive but not intrusive polite staff who genuinely cared how our meal and experience was. Will definetly dine there again. Xx
Afternoon tea lovely.
