About The Grill By HW
A unique grill restaurant featuring Wagyu beef reared on our own farms and matched with rare wines from around the world
Absolutely outstanding, from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. Great food, delicious wine and outstanding staff. We will absolutely be back
Restaurant was empty after 8.00pm other than ourselves. Food and service excellent
Excellent service and great meal. Best steak I’ve had!!!!.
we very much enjoyed our meal - cannot fault it!! Definitely will be recommended to our friends and contacts. Hope to see you on 22/12
Friendly well informed staff, from the moment you step through the door. Fantastic to watch Head Chef Jeff and other chefs preparing your meal from the very comfortable seats in the dining room. To have Christopher's knowledge on hand to answer any questions on the food on offer, and of course, of any wine or spirit. Always a special experience.
Fantastic every time I go!
Excellent burgers. Grass fed rib eye was the star of the show though! Oh and the excellent orange rum! Lovely friendly service. We'll be back!
So this was booked as a special treat as we’ve had Wagyu before, but self cooked, so we needed to actually have it done properly. The restaurant is deceptively big. You look at it from the outside and it belies how big it is inside. The doors are a bit on the low side, which is evident for anyone 6’1” or over. So anyone tall needs to bear this in mind. With regards to the food, absolutely close to perfection is how it can best be described and, if you’re unsure how best to have your wagyu, absolutely go with the house suggestion of medium rare. The sensation of the beef being crispy, yet melting in your mouth at the same time is one of the most wonderful things I’ve experienced. The wagyu fries are also rather perfect as well and the epitome of how it elevates a dish. A note about the bread as well, because it needs mentioning, the butter it is served with is rather delicious and quite unlike anything previously experienced. It’s made in-house and isn’t available commercially, though I wish it was. This place is very highly recommended and, even if you cannot taste anything, this is a sensational experience that you shouldn’t miss out on.
Tried the burgers this time. They were fantastic!! Service was also fantastic as always. Will be back soon for another steak!
Love how passionate the team are about the produce! Love the ethos of nose to tail cooking and think it's great this is carried through onto the wine menu also. A must for any steak lover!
We were in for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. We were the only table for the first 20 minutes of our reservation, so there wasn't much in the way of atmosphere but we were never intruded upon. This is my third visit, and as per the last twice I was there, the food was impeccable. We were persuaded to add in some pastrami bites to our hummus started which proved to be an excellent decision. We ordered a lobster taco and steak wrap for our mains and both were utterly delicious. The kitchen was then very happy to accommodate our request for a creme caramel for desert: a pudding we'd had on a prior visit but not on the menu. Service was, as always, impeccable and perfectly timed. A really lovely experience.
Absolutely delicious food and outstanding service from all the staff. Will definitely be back!
What an amazing little spot! Delectable steaks and food offering. Exceptional wine list with knowledgable sommelier Chris. Lovely little touches across the board. Can't wait to return again for a bigger portion of everything! 9/10 for sure!!
First time visiting and it won’t be the last ! Great food and service thanks to Christopher. Well worth the money for a great meal.
Felt very spoiled by the friendly, attentive and knowledgeable staff. Steak was simply sublime and the choice of drinks refreshingly different. Thoroughly enjoyable experience and would highly recommend particularly for a special occasion or a well earned treat.
We had an amazing lunch yesterday, we had afew things as a big sampler between the 3 of us. We had the taco, lobster taco, hummus, hot dog with chilli, 200g fillet, Denver and skirt. My only suggestion would be to change the taco a little. It was more like an American sloppy joe. My suggestion would be to take some of the wonderful chuck and braise it down with some spices and pull it. Serve with a little avacado or a spiced mayonnaise. That was my second time to the grill and I will definitely be back again. The quality of the beef is amazing and worth the long drive from Ayrshire.
Fantastic meal. The steak could not have been cooked better or tasted better. The spring rolls are delicious as was the tart, and the brownie just finished of a superb experience! The staff were also excellent, very friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable about the beef! We will be returning very soon to start working our way through the rest of the menu!
Great food, Great service, Fantastic surroundings, a return visit planned for sure. All four of us loved it.
First Class Welcome by very friendly and professional staff, who explained the Wagyu cuts of beef and provided some great stories about the Bulls at Balhaldie! The food was excellent and with very chilled and rustic surroundings The Grill by HW in BofA has provided the town with a must do restaurant!
We were there for lunch, which was excellent... Some thoughts though, would like the option of a sauce on the side with the burger eg pepper sauce and would prefer 330ml bottle of cola instead of the small ones, especially at £3 each.
A wonderful evening, highly recommended. Chris who looked after us is knowledgable and passionate about what he does and it shows. Great food, fabulous wine, the Wagyu beef is exceptional.
Food, service and attention to detail were outstanding. We will be back!
Fantastic service and lovely atmosphere. Knowledgeable staff, food cooked to perfection.
Excellent food. Scallops were superb. Flat iron steak was the most tender and delicately flavoured beef I have eaten. Restaurant was empty apart from our table which was a shame. Think if the prices of the steaks were £10 less each i.e. prime £55, medium £40 and skirts £25, you would fill the restaurant.
I have followed the highland wagyu for some time and had their products sent to my home, recently had a visit to the grill and the quality of the food is amazing. Very simple, no bells and whistles just great quality ingredients cooked well. The beef is the best I have ever tasted. Absolutely perfect.
