Hello. Please give our thanks to all The Grill’s team for the wonderful table for our Anniversary! We had an amazing time.the food was absolutely spectacular and our waitress was just wonderful. Looking forward to come in the near future. What a great place!
The food was brilliant, if you’re a meat lover it’s a great menu. Service is probably the best I have ever had, they tended to every need. The waitress went above and beyond for us, evening noticing my girlfriends cold and bringing her a complimentary lemon and ginger tea to help her. The shuttle bus to the restaurant is quick and very useful. The restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere. I would 100% dine here again.
I was very disappointed that having been asked if we required any condiments with our meal, we were subsequently charged for them. I thought condiments were normally free? Bit cheeky!
Peppercorn sauce was far too over powering, wish we had tasted it before both covering our steaks in it. Also, £5 for 2 tiny jugs! Other than that the food was delicious, steaks cooked to perfection, thank you!
we had a wonderfull 3 course meal ,with great service and will be returning in the near future.
The only negative was it felt a very rushed dining experience, our three course meal was done and dusted in an hour.
The reason I gave 4 stars was because I felt as though as soon as we finished 1 course they would come out straight away with our other course and we would of liked a bit of time for it to settle before we are again but overall really good!
An amazing place, with great views, lovely staff and fabulous food. Thank you for making my birthday meal so memorable.
Lovely casual dining experience which was much needed after a day in the office. Thank you
We had the three course meal inclusive with the room deal, I thought the extra charges above and beyond the meal deal are unnecessary and takes the shine off the special occasion. I would much prefer to pay a little extra for the deal and not have to pick my way through the menu adding up the extra cost of being able to choose what you like.
My wife and I both had the Ribs and I can honestly say they were the best I’ve had in a very long time
Beautiful setting , amazing food , amazing staff. Live this place we'll be back again X
We had to wait 15 minutes in the cold for a minibus to take us there. We couldn't wait inside because other people would have taken seats in bus. The food I thought was overpriced £35 for a fillet steak with MacDonald style chips and a bit of lettuce. Not what I would have expected from a 5* hotel. The waiter muddled our sauces up so consequently the wrong sauces were poured over the wrong steaks. No-one asked us if our meal was ok, no customer service at all.Again not what I would expect from this calibre of hotel. This evening was a present for my 60th birthday and I was truly disappointed.
Friday night was a little noisy for an evening meal for two but that’s understandable. The food was delicious!
Fantastic night - I think our servers name was Agnes/Andre but she was fantastic and very helpful. Service was great and had a really enjoyable evening.
Food amazing and great service
The service was first class, we arrived on time for our table, but one of our party was missing, which meant we didn't order until quite late. We were the last to leave the restaurant and at no time did we feel that we were being rushed. The service was relaxed, efficient and with a hint of humor superb
Great food & service. Tried a French red wine that I wouldn’t normally go for, and it was superb, glad I took the chance.
The best steak I’ve ever tasted definitely will be returning
My wife has been poorly since the meal - we can't state that it was the prawns she had at the meal however, she felt sick as we left the restaurant and was bedded down all day Sunday, plus she had to take a day off work today. There is no proof that is was the prawns however, I had the same to eat as her all day with the only difference being the prawns. She did state they did taste funny during the meal - all other food was really nice - hopefully it wasn't the prawns. It would be useful to know if any other guests who had a prawn starter had the same sickness post the meal or wether it was just a coincidence. The staff and service was great. The lamb was really nice. Many thanks for a a good night,
Meal was great and service fantastic
We enjoyed our week-end at the Celtic Manor immensely and our buffet in the Olive Tree on Friday 28th September, my birthday, was superb. Unfortunately our dining experience on the Saturday in the Grill was well below what was expected. I booked for ten, six adults and four children at 5.00 pm I received an email asking us to pre order our meals a week in advance so that we would not have to wait for our meal, this I did. Although there were very few diners in the restaurant we had to wait one and a half hours before we were served. This caused untold probems with my grandchildren, especially the two year old! When the meal arrived we had to send the mushy peas back as they were cold, my fish was just about warm enough and we were informed the chef had told the waiter not to serve the Keylime Bar as it was ineditable. My daughter was extremely upset as she suggested the Grill and had been told by many of her friends, who like her, live in nearby Caerleon that it was a perfect place for her father's 75th Birthday.
Food was superb. Good choice, well cooked, decent sized portions and expertly presented. Service was poor. Was seated quickly but after 15 mins of waiting, no one had come to our table to take our drink order, so we had to call someone over. Eventually our order was taken. We were then sat there for another 15 mins before our food order was taken. During this time no one offered us bread rolls, etc. Eventually food order was taken and drinks delivered. Starters and main courses arrived in a timely manner. Only one issue with a main course (ordered new potatoes but meal arrived with fries) which was quickly rectified. During both courses no one came to the table to check if everything was ok with the food which is unusual in a restaurant. Fortunately the food was excellent so there were no issues but this is not the point as someone should have checked. Took ages for plates to be cleared after main course and dessert order to be taken. Also during our 2.5 hours in the restaurant, no one came to ask us if we wanted any more drinks - big opportunity lost to get us to spend more money. Overall, excellent food, polite staff but very poor and slow service. Plus the less said about the bill, the better!!
