About The Griffin Inn
The Griffin Inn is a genuine country pub, serving great food and ales and of course we're located in the most beautiful part of Leicestershire with loads of great scenery and walks right on our doorstep.
As always, a wonderful choice of mouthwatering dishes, good wine/beer and superb service. Wish we could visit more often!
Really enjoyed our group booking. As the organiser, it was very easy to arrange and deal with the staff, making my job easier! Everyone enjoyed their meals and the lovely added touches. Thank you :-)
First of all the drinks took 15 minutes to come out, no exaggeration we timed it! Then when the food came out they missed off half the food. We ordered "the big one" roast, it came out with only a bit of turkey, we ordered lamb and turkey! It also came without pigs in blankets. When we sent it back the waiter told us they didn't have any pigs in blankets but forgot to mention this to use until the food came out. He didn't apologise for the food once. Last of all one of our drinks had a big black piece of dirt inside it so that was sent back too. We received no apologies and received no kind of discount to compensate any of this. Our original waiter never came out to check back on us (probably because he was embarrassed) The food was good when we eventually got it but the service was very poor so we will not be returning again.
A very enjoyable experience, excellent ambiance, service and surroundings.
I booked a table at the Griffin for a Sunday lunch with a friend. We had a wonderful time. The food was really tasty, well presented and reasonably priced. Service was attentive without being overbearing - they even provided extra custard for my pudding without quibbling. Great place to eat!
Delicious Sunday lunch, would definitely go back
Lovely food but didn’t have a lot of meals and puddings we asked for because they ran out. Our meal was 7:15pm so wasn’t a late meal. Lovely touch at the end with mini mince pies with the bill.
I rang to say I would be 15 minutes late and couldn't even understand the person on the phone who then proceeded to speak over me. The vegetarian option was appalling (the pie was a sloppy mess with a lid of very hard pastry on top) - I didn't eat any of it. Although I wasn't charged for this so that was positive. The vegetables were very good. I asked whether the gravy was vegetarian and the waiter never came back and updated me, however it was delivered with my dish and the second waiter seemed unsure whether it was vegetarian or not. It wasn't a good experience and we wont be coming back again. As we walked out of the pub through the bar - this seemed much more inviting, warmer and there were people eating in there. It would have been been preferable to sit in there for an improved atmosphere but the food was still horrible. Coffee was strong and overbrewed.
Food was very nice. Enjoyed our first visit. Would return.
Lovely meal and exemplary service
Really nice atmosphere in a cosy room. Very polite and friendly staff. Food was really nice, we had the rib eye steak. Definitely be back to try more of the menu.
Vegetable served swimming in water (over an inch at the bottom of each bowl), food was luke warm, roast potato portions - just 2 each... should be more. Same with parsnip... just one bit.
We booked for six but on arrival at six were wrongly told the booking was for six-thirty and asked to wait in the bar which my mum didn't like as we had two young kids with us. The food was all very good except the Yorkshire puddings were slightly overdone and the service was great despite a long wait for desserts.
Very good service as usual
Not much choice for vegetarians and a distinct lack of atmosphere in the dining room.
Great food. Will go again.
Excellent food and service, will definitely come again.
Brilliant food, great staff and we’ll definitely be coming again.
All seven of us enjoyed an evening meal. Scallops were delicious. Elderflower and prosecco jelly dessert outstanding.
My daughter had a her wedding reception here on the 1st June and all was superb. we decided to meet up and have sunday lunch (all booked ) Well , we sat down at 13.30 and left at 16.40 ? The service was appalling and we only had one course , goodness knows we would have been there until 19.00 if we would have had more . we had 3 small children with us and asked if 3 portion of garlick bread could be brought out asap , that took 30 minutes ? we were very disappointed in the service and I made my feelings clear when asking for the bill . Your response was, I will report it to the team ? That went down really well . Just over 3 hours for a one course Sunday lunch . No offer of a discount , so you can be sure I did not leave a tip Very Very disappointed with the service Stuart Rogers
My husband and I just love it here but then we are biased as we had our wedding reception here..the meal we had was to celebrate our 2nd Anniversary and you didn't disappoint.. Thank You
Very enjoyable Sunday lunch, great service and food
Wonderful food and great service.
