About The Griffin Inn
The Griffin Inn is a genuine country pub, serving great food and ales and of course we're located in the most beautiful part of Leicestershire with loads of great scenery and walks right on our doorstep.
Enjoyed lunch for 4 in the covered dining area on Saturday lunchtime. All the staff were great and well trained. The food selection was varied, interesting and very tasty. We had a small delay between mains and deserts as they were quite busy, but again all dealt with very pleasantly. Would recommend and visit again.
Good food but a little expensive
This venue has got the service element absolutely spot on - we could not have been better looked after. From the initial greeting to paying the bill (and booking again) was perfectly executed. The food was excellent!
First night out in a long time. The outdoor dining setup was excellent. The food & service were marvelous. Pat on the back for whoever came up with the £4 blankets idea. Look forward to revisiting soon.
Our first pub meal out after lockdown. Really enjoyed our lunch. The outside patio covered area was busy and had a good atmosphere. My only criticism was that service was a little slow but as we were in no hurry it wasn’t really a problem.
Food was stunning did take a little longer than other tables as we was in the corner but we’ll worth the food
Our favourite place for Sunday lunch! Service is always great and the food is brilliant. We visited on May 2nd and it was the nicest outside dining experience we have had 😊
We had to wait a while on arrival, in the rain, before someone came over to say hello and seat us. Other than that everything was wonderful and we had a great evening. The food and band were brilliant and we will be back - probably when it’s a bit warmer though!
Can't comment about the food and service as we didn't get that far but what I can comment on is the extremely poor customer service. Booked and paid £9 to reserve a table for Wednesday 21st April, turned up and no fault of their own they had a sign up in the carpark entrance saying closed due to small fire. A bit inconvenient to us as no communication was made for us to make alternative arrangements but they did have more important issues to deal with. Left it a couple of days and emailed to aske if our £9 was being refunded or if it could be used to reserve another table and to date no correspondence received..... It's safe to say we won't be rushing to reserve another table.
Very tasty food and attentive staff
Was excellent. Given the circumstance and that it was very busy everything was managed really well. Plenty staff and slick. Well done.
Excellent service/ food and drink. Tables spaced far enough apart and customers follow the rules wearing masks when not sitting down.
All very nice Alice looked after us very well Just noticed my deposit was not deducted from my bill
Good service and good food. Only suggestion would be for seat cushions: my elderly father felt it a bit
Good food Friendly service Nice setting
Really lovely outdoor area, great service and excellent food. Will definitely be back very soon.
Fantastic, friendly service, delicious food all in a pleasant atmosphere
This is a bit of a laugh/cheek, since we didn’t receive any food, etc. Our booking confirmation email clearly states: 'This email is to confirm your booking at The Griffin Inn on Sunday, 25 April 2021 at 21:00.' We were very disappointed to be turned away when we arrived for the booking. We were told that you tried to contact us by phone the night before to tell us not to come. But we can find no record of any phone call to either our landline or mobile phone from you. In any case we do not feel that a phone call the night before was adequate to inform us that the booking was wrong, when it was made more than 2 weeks before. When we turned up at the booked time, we do not feel that the staff were very concerned that we didn’t get our dinner. We left with the impression that it was somehow our fault that we didn’t know that you closed at 18:00 on Sunday, whereas it clearly states on your website that you are open at 21:00 on Sundays. I had been scuba diving all day and was very hungry. We have tried to support you during lockdown and made our dinner booking as soon as you announced on the village Whatsapp that you were reopening. We feel that we should be treated better than this. Furthermore, you took £6-00 from my credit card on 9/4/21 as a guarantee against no-show. Well, we did show, but got no food, so do I get some compensation for that – as well as my £6 back? This is not what we expect from the Griffin.
Great food. Fast and excellent service.
Very well managed outdoor dining
First of all I would like to say that the Griffin has done a great job in serving the public over lockdown with take home food and now with the dinning outside set up. My food on Saturday was not up to usual standard as the vegetables were not cooked, I like my veggies short cooked but these were raw ! Apart from that it was fine and we had a good night, good atmosphere with music.
Under the covid restrictions, it was nice to be out and enjoying our friends company. The live music was great and helped with the atmosphere but probably ended a little soon, it would have been nice to have them playing maybe until 10.30 not 9.30. All in all we will be looking to come back. In fact I think the wife has already booked
It was a really wonderful lunch, we loved the setting, the staff couldn’t have been more attentive and courteous and the food was divine!
Really nice courtyard for outdoor food. Great service.
