About The Griffin Inn
The Griffin Inn is a genuine country pub, serving great food and ales and of course we're located in the most beautiful part of Leicestershire with loads of great scenery and walks right on our doorstep.
Vegetable served swimming in water (over an inch at the bottom of each bowl), food was luke warm, roast potato portions - just 2 each... should be more. Same with parsnip... just one bit.
We booked for six but on arrival at six were wrongly told the booking was for six-thirty and asked to wait in the bar which my mum didn't like as we had two young kids with us. The food was all very good except the Yorkshire puddings were slightly overdone and the service was great despite a long wait for desserts.
Very good service as usual
Not much choice for vegetarians and a distinct lack of atmosphere in the dining room.
Great food. Will go again.
Excellent food and service, will definitely come again.
Brilliant food, great staff and we’ll definitely be coming again.
All seven of us enjoyed an evening meal. Scallops were delicious. Elderflower and prosecco jelly dessert outstanding.
My daughter had a her wedding reception here on the 1st June and all was superb. we decided to meet up and have sunday lunch (all booked ) Well , we sat down at 13.30 and left at 16.40 ? The service was appalling and we only had one course , goodness knows we would have been there until 19.00 if we would have had more . we had 3 small children with us and asked if 3 portion of garlick bread could be brought out asap , that took 30 minutes ? we were very disappointed in the service and I made my feelings clear when asking for the bill . Your response was, I will report it to the team ? That went down really well . Just over 3 hours for a one course Sunday lunch . No offer of a discount , so you can be sure I did not leave a tip Very Very disappointed with the service Stuart Rogers
My husband and I just love it here but then we are biased as we had our wedding reception here..the meal we had was to celebrate our 2nd Anniversary and you didn't disappoint.. Thank You
Very enjoyable Sunday lunch, great service and food
Wonderful food and great service.
We have always found the Griffin an excellent pub for eating out.
Awful service, had to ask four times for drinks on two separate occasions, waited fifteen minutes for first drinks despite being the only customers in the restaurant. Not offered any condiments with our food, had to ask again. Waitress bought our food over and didn't even know what was on the plate.staff didn't know what beers were available and despite asking for a drinks menu this was never provided. Food was alright but over priced for what it was.
Lovely food but unfortunately ruined by them putting the wrong food in and overcharging us on the starter.
I was disappointed with the Sunday lunch (nowhere near as good as the Lions event we attended at the Griffin the week before). To serve a huge half chicken with roast potatoes and vegetables in the summer seems odd. I should have had the fish. Barbara's sweet was not a proper tiramisu and had too much artificial syrup on it.
Pub was lovely, my food was delicious, mussles, though my boyfriends burner was dripping with grease as soon as he picked it up, he was able to eat it but wasn't to the standard he expected. Staff were really friendly but as we were put in a back room with the door shut over instead of being asked if we wanted to stay in the garden or one of the other occupied rooms, we were almost forgotten about a few times. Would come back for sure, this did not ruin our dining experience. It just come have been a little better
We loved the pub the decor and feel of the place was sophisticated and relaxing- clean and friendly The portion size was a surprise I struggled to eat the Sunday lunch The staff in particular the younger girls seemed a bit disinterested and could do with engaging and smiling We will be back
Found the potions small for the cost No courtesy checks
When we arrived we were served by Martyn who was absolutely lovely! He does have hearing aids and did misshear one of our orders - which was easily fixed.. we were all in utter shock when the manager came over to apologise then dropped a comment saying ‘he needs his hearing aids changed’. That was an awful thing to say considering he was really nice and only made a small human error.
Private party of 18. Pre ordered food and they had forgot one of my guests mains? How can that happen?
Pleasant visit, food good. We were moved into the restaurant from a table in the bar, but would probably have preferred to stay in the bar. Other than that the staff were very obliging.
The meals for a group of 25 were pre-booked and served quickly. The helpings are generous, well cooked and great value for money and the staff are friendly and very efficient.
Nice, professional service
