About The Green Room
Located on the top floor of Rosehill Theatre, The Green Room restaurant offers stunning views across the Solway Firth. It's the perfect place to relax, unwind and savour the delicious dishes created by the team, led by head chef and Cumbrian food champion Jon Fell.
In association with Lakes College West Cumbria, The Green Room provides training and employment for students and graduates who gain skills and confidence from working alongside creative professionals, preparing classic British food with imagination and quality ingredients, and supporting local suppliers wherever possible.
From light bites to pre-performance suppers, from afternoon tea to Sunday lunch, there's plenty to tantalise your tastebuds!
Menus are refreshed regularly to make use of seasonal produce and include vegetarian and gluten-free options, all delivered in Jon's unique style.
Great experience to wine and dine before a performance. Makes for a lovely evening with no rush.
A supper meal before a very entertaining evening with the effervescent Leslie Garrett and super talented Anna Tilbrook. Great service, really tasty meal. We were made to feel very welcome. Loved the Chicken Roulade.
We all had a very enjoyable day , the food & service was fabulous will defiantly recommend you and will return . Thank you all very much.
Amazing food. Main courses were beautiful.
Had a fab meal at the green room last night. We were the only ones in and I just can’t understand why it was delicious, great service and good value. We will be back
Another delightful evening at The Green Room and Rosehill Theatre! We enjoyed delicious flatbreads, with our chosen toppings, fine wine and an affogato each to finish. This was all in preparation for an excellent evening of fun and entertainment at the Tastings and Tunes event in Messel’s bar.
Lovely experience either before a show at the theatre or just for a meal on its own. Will deffinatly eat here again
Throughly enjoyed our afternoon tea at the green room, the value for money was fantastic. Everything looked at was presented professionally. I'd highly recommend. The gentleman waiting on was professional and attentive. If I have to pick one thing the sandwich fillings were all mayonnaise based which was lovely but a bit much for all the sandwiches. A plain meat one would have been nice but that just my personal preference. The cakes mmmmmmm to die for, the homemade vanilla slice was awesome. Thankyou and we'll def return
Couldn’t fault it, food was amazing & staff were all great 👍🏼
Lovely night, beautiful food, great service. Would definitely recommend people to give it a try, you won't be disappointed. I will certainly return again.
More comfortable seats and subdued lighting would improve the dining experience, otherwise all good.
Used the 20% voucher from The Guide which was a great saving. Service was excellent and food well presented and good quality. Thanks!
Great service and lovely food however a little bright, maybe toning down the lights and a bit of colour on the walls may enhance the experience, feels a bit like a posh canteen, other than that - brill.
Overall we both really enjoyed our meal. My only minor gripe was that I expected there to be more choice on the menu We will definitely be back though, would recommend the place to anybody
We had a lovely meal in the restaurant before the piano duets concert in the theatre.
Food was beautiful, presentation and taste was excellent. Friendly, polite and professional staff. Have been before and will return again.
We never actually got there on Saturday night, it was cancelled due to no gas, we were disappointed as it was my husbands birthday
As a single person eating in a restaurant sitting with your back to everyone else is not a nice place to sit
Poor menu beer warm and coffee only tepid.
Enjoyed the food. I would consider dimming the lights a bit, maybe decorate ( it’s to white) and provide more comfortable seats ( make it a bit more cosy/romantic)
Lovely views but slightly spartan tables/chairs. Service charming and attentive, without being intrusive. Food and cooking is to a high standard - marked down slightly because inner pastry layers of Beef Wellington were not fully cooked through. Portions are generous. Decent value for money - not cheap but higher quality than most.
Food absolutely beautiful cooked by a brilliant chef in Jon Fell and service was fantastic
Setting was nice and modern, service was brilliant and the food was lovely. Would definitely return and recommend
Not an over crowed menu but a good choice, for a group of eight only two of us had the same main course. Everyone enjoyed their dishes with good comments about the veg and potatoes. Service was very good, the right balance of service and being left to it. We will be back.
First time work colleagues and I have visited the restaurant and were all very impressed with the whole experience. Delicious and well presented food together with excellent service, first class. We will be back.
