About The Green Room
Located on the top floor of Rosehill Theatre, The Green Room restaurant offers stunning views across the Solway Firth. It's the perfect place to relax, unwind and savour the delicious dishes created by the team, led by head chef and Cumbrian food champion Jon Fell.
In association with Lakes College West Cumbria, The Green Room provides training and employment for students and graduates who gain skills and confidence from working alongside creative professionals, preparing classic British food with imagination and quality ingredients, and supporting local suppliers wherever possible.
From light bites to pre-performance suppers, from afternoon tea to Sunday lunch, there's plenty to tantalise your tastebuds!
Menus are refreshed regularly to make use of seasonal produce and include vegetarian and gluten-free options, all delivered in Jon's unique style.
This is the best afternoon tea and the best value for money. The views are excellent from the restaurant and the food is amazing, the staff are so friendly and helpful making this a really lovely experience. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.
Unfortunately the restaurant was icy cold when we came, its a shame the staff didn't mention the lack of warmth or apologise for it being so cold. Then it would have been up to us to decide wether we wanted to stay or not. Staff stood next to a small heater in between service to keep warm but I and other diners kept their coats on throughout. My mum ordered white bait to start and no where on the menu did it state there was a hot, spicy coating on them. They were inedible for us, we tried to 'peel' them to try to salvage a couple of the fish from within the batter but this proved impossible. We mentioned this to the waitress who agreed the menu should state that it was a hot spicy dish. I think it would have been a nice gesture to not charge for this. If we had been given an apology about the cold and not charged for the white bait we would have been able to leave a glowing review as our main meals were excellent as was the sticky toffee pudding. Such a shame!
The croquet monsiour was incredibly good value for money. We didn’t expect to have such a feast for £5! And it was delicious!
Lovely afternoon with friends in a relaxed atmosphere. Food delicious and great views. Service attentive but not "in your face". We will be back.
Our experience was so good that the person who came with us is to return with a family member. We often recommend The Green Room to others we meet.
Absolutely fantastic meal, always a fabulous experience! Highly recommended
Excellent service fantastic food and at a great price.
Great evening at the theatre, with a lovely pre-show meal. Will certainly carry on frequenting the restaurant and combine food and entertainment here again!
Beautiful Sunday lunch enjoyed by my wife and I. Soup, gorgeous home-made bread with herb butter, followed by pork belly and roast sirloin mains respectively with beautifully prepared veg , gravy and Yorkshire puddings. Everything was flavour-driven and really tasty! Service was friendly, relaxed and efficient. It's the first time in a while that we've been to the Green Room. It certainly won't be long until our next visit!
We dined with you last night and the monkfish was superb, preceded by a fresh and zingy goats cheese starter. I love that we can see you preparing our food up front and experience the aromas. Service was very nice and the choice of wines good. The only thing that ‘may’ improve my visit perhaps would be a little softer lighting and some ‘background’ music rather than the ‘foreground lyrical’ music. I realise that’s very subjective and it will not deter me from paying you a further visit soon, I hope. Thanks very much to all the team for providing a first class supper.
Our food was beautifully presented and delicious; particularly the jack fruit starter. I do love to come for food before a show but it can make it an expensive night depending on the price of the tickets. The burger & beer are a great value choice, but unfortunately only available for the comedy shows.
We had a lovely Sunday lunch. the only thing that slightly let it down was I had the pork and was looking forward to some pork crackling as one would normally get with a slightly higher priced Sunday lunch but it had none on.
My friend ordered a dish with langoustines but it was very difficult to deshell the langoustines, I tried to help and my finger got pricked by the sharp bits of the shell; also, there is no finger bowl to wash after deshelling. But the food we had were delicious. Thanks.
first 2 courses were served in double quick time which was what we needed as we were attending the theatre. However the dessert did take 15mins and it was only cheese and biscuits!!
We had afternoon tea which has to be one of the best we’ve had anywhere in the Lake District. You got a lovely selection of sandwiches, savoury dishes (which is unusual for most afternoon teas) and cakes/desserts. These were presented beautifully and plentiful. The staff were very courteous with just the right amount of attentiveness. We didn’t manage to eat it all but were provided with take home boxes. I would highly recommend the Green Room to friends and family.
Gorgeous meal, great service and stunning sunset.
Excellent food and service again. Nicely decorated for the autumn months.
We were the only ones in the restaurant until towards the end of our meal and would no doubt have given 5 stars for atmosphere if there had been more people. Have been in the evening before when the restaurant was almost full.
So much food!! Really big portion sizes - value for money
We went on sunday for Sunday lunch. 3 of us We ordered the roast beef dinner. 10/10 Beautiful beef good perfect. Cooked how beef should be. Nice and pink. So tender. Plenty veg roasts beautiful mash potatoes & huge Yorkshire puddings. We all had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream & cream. Bonus we used our loyal 10% off card. Thankyou
The best roast beef Sunday lunch in West Cumbria. Everything was excellent quality and cooked to perfection. Good selection of vegetables. Service was excellent too. We will be back soon. Thank you 😊
I have eaten here many times and am always chilly. The air conditioning seems a little fierce!
Great food in a lovely setting
Lovely food and service, would visit again.
Absolutely loved it, staff were attentive and very helpful, the food was delicious and the price definitely reflected the quality and the portion sizes, the children’s meal was of a very high quality and a generous portion. We’ll definitely be visiting again! the only thing I would change would be to add a wider range of flavoured Gin.
