About Afternoon Tea at Cliveden

Enriched with antique furniture and period features, it has stayed true to its roots whilst also providing a luxurious setting to rest, meet and play.
Now, our Grade I stately home set upon 376 acres of National Trust grounds is a luxurious five-star hotel, ready and waiting to welcome you in.

Had such an amazing time here, afternoon tea was incredible.
We were a little disappointed with the service which was not as attentive as we would have liked and the food on the day was good but not perhaps up to the standard we had expected. My husband was, prior to retirement, a director of a company with luxury restaurants so perhaps we have been spoilt in the past. Overall then a slightly disappointing occasion but still enjoyable..
Great selection, and great service from Vasilius in a most beautiful room with epic view
As a group of 3 friends we booked afternoon tea at Clivedon House on the Sunday - it was a surprisingly shoddy experience. Definately not a place to go for a luxurious or treat afternoon tea - poor food and slow service. When we entered the entrance hall we wandered around the tables and lounge rooms looking to find someone we should inform of our arrival. Once a couple had finalised their room checking in we realised that there was a member of staff in the hallway. It seemed to cause them some degree of concern to find our reservation - no direct acknowledgement of us and no welcome. We were led to a table. My friend asked for a look at the drinks menu which when it arrived was such a dog eared mess. A glass of champagne was poured for two or us and when our friend was ready to place her order we had difficulty attracting anyones attention to place the order. By the time we had been seated at our table for 45 minutes we had received our three drinks. The food arrived and was explained to us (whipped butter and jam in the 2 pots on the top for the warm scones which would arrive later). The chicken "sausage" rolls amd mushroom quiche were delious - the brioche roll was dry, the wrap was too thick amd the egg and beef sandwiches had little filling and not woeth mentioning. We has been told that we could ask for seconds so we did ask but only received the motorway service style sandwiches. The scones were pleasant but one pot of whipped butter and jam does not go far between 6 scones so we asked for more (!) And after a lengthy delay amd conflabe to received a pot of jam and a white liquid (when tasted was sour). We questioned this and were informed that was cluttered cream and how it was done a Clivedon - we grabbed the attention of another member of staff who agreed it was natural yoghurt and a mistake had been made. He did bring replacement and upon request tea spoons to serve the cream and jam. Same plates and cutlery for savoury and sweet. The drinks were removed from our bill as acknowledgement for the yohurt. The only feel good factor left after the tea was that one of the waiters ran down the drive to reunite me with my mobile which I had left behind on the table. Thank you so very much.
Was given to as a gift from our children as they knew it was something we would not treat ourselves too. It was lovely to be totally spoilt for the afternoon, and made us feel very special. The staff were most attentive and it was much appreciated that the allergy we have listed on our internet booking was recalled by the staff and addressed most professionally.
Dear All, thank you so much for your outstanding service today - the house looked splendid - decked with Christmas decorations complete with festive cheer from all your staff. . . . . Just super!
We all agreed in my party that the mulled wine was better than a glass of champagne as it made it more festive. The afternoon was so lovely and we are never asked to leave, but we were so comfortable we were asked to leave for the next guests. Just such a delightful afternoon tea with my family. Thank you
The Festive afternoon tea was wonderful. The smoked salmon bagels were lovely and with plenty of salmon! One of the cakes was a delightful twist on Christmas pudding. Would definitely recommend their afternoon teas all year round! The service was excellent as always.
Absolutely sublime experience. Will definitely return. The attention to detail is to be commended.
Beautiful cold day, beautiful & delicious afternoon tea, put us all in the Christmas spirit. Thank you.🎄🎄
Mediocre tea and not an atmospheric room
Impeccable service - swift, elegant, unobtrusively attentive. Delightful champagne and afternoon tea, sandwiches, scones, and sweet or savoury tartlets. Impressive decor and outlook onto beautiful grounds. Please turn up the heating . . . it was somewhat chilly in the restaurant!
Wonderful. One small flag we weren’t aware of national trust charge. Otherwise a sublime experience will be back. Food, service and surroundings perfect. Stunning Christmas Tree.
A very enjoyable experience for my friend and me. The service, atmosphere, food and venue were excellent. The Christmas decorations were exquisite. Would definitely recommend and would love to visit again.
Lovely special afternoon with family
I purchased the Afternoon Tea as a gift for a friend. From the moment we arrived we received excellent service. We were met in the car park and directed to a parking bay. On entering the hotel we received a warm welcome and were shown through to a beautiful room set for our afternoon tea. We were served a delicious glass of mulled wine, which we were informed was made on the premises, followed by lovely hot homemade sausage rolls, mini quiche , freshly made sandwiches, hot scones and a selection of cakes. The service was excellent, we had a lovely afternoon and would definitely recommend. Thank you to all the staff at Cliveden for making our day special.
Lovely afternoon in a beautiful setting with a delicious tea and attentive staff. A wonderful start to the festive season. I am always very happy to visit Cliveden.
The service was outstanding
Very good service and food
I would have loved a pot of coffee as I’m a coffee drinker. This would have matched the pot of tea my husband had. But the day was perfect and this is not my first time nor will it be my last. Thank you for a perfect day.
Such a Perfect afternoon tea time!
Our first visit to Cliveden. Very nice occasion with helpful staff and fine dining. Enjoyed the seasonal decorations and will definitely visit again.
Lovely Afternoon, Will do it again
Friendliness and efficiency of the staff was as good as ever. Thank you to all involved. Our party last enjoyed afternoon tea before Christmas 2017, when we were on sofas in the lounge (? - to the left of the main entrance), and felt that was a nicer, cosier, location than today, when we were in the dining room. Last time we were offered additional sandwiches, which we gladly accepted, but, sadly, extras were not offered today. Today’s savoury items (and the scones) were however all delicious. We chose to take the cakes home as they looked rather lurid (bright red and green!) and sickly. We enjoyed our afternoon, overall, and I’m sure we’ll return.
Excellent food as I’m gluten intolerant it was fabulous. Thank you so much to all involved.
