About Afternoon Tea at Cliveden
Built in 1666 by the 2nd Duke of Buckingham, as a gift to his mistress, Cliveden House has remained a pinnacle of intrigue and glamour for the elite.
Enriched with antique furniture and period features, it has stayed true to its roots whilst also providing a luxurious setting to rest, meet and play.
Now, our Grade I stately home set upon 376 acres of National Trust grounds is a luxurious five-star hotel, ready and waiting to welcome you in.
Very nice experience with helpful staff, delicious food and lovely tea, coffee
Excellent service. The guy in the black suit was amazing. Great personality and really helpful. Prior to coming we were unaware the chicken you serve is halal which immediately made the experience a whole lot better. This person kindly changed our order and really made us feel welcome. He’s an absolute star! Thanks you 😊
The scones were exceptional
Wonderful afternoon tea experience with my friends for my 50th Birthday. Thank you Cliveden for making it so special.
Excellent afternoon tea with fabulous service
A fantastic afternoon and our dog was really well looked after and welcomed
Impeccable as always
We have been to many afternoon teas but thought the food served at Cliveden was at best mediocre.
Great venue, great food and great service. However, I doubt if the management there have ever sat in the dinning room seats to eat - they were terribly uncomfortable and more suited to a bar lounge than a classy dinning room. The seats were too low and insufficient back support when eating - I won't ever return.
Very disappointed with the service at afternoon tea. So many things went wrong... We had to ask for more tea / coffee and water...it was not offered. At one point, after waiting more than 10 minutes...my friend got up from the table and walked over to ask the waiter where her tea was. We then waited and waited till eventually it arrived and fresh tea was poured into her cup which was half full of cold tea! Our cakes were brought out at same time as savoury plates and so were sat in the sun (beaming through the window) and melting whilst we ate the sandwiches. We had to ask for more clotted cream and jam for our scones, which never arrived so we only had one scone each. The others went cold. Our table was not cleared, when other guests tables were. Just really bad service over all. Felt very disappointed. Will not return....much better experience had at Penny Hill Park.
Thanks for a very special experience.. guests loved all the brilliant service- Only critique is we could have had more of a variety of the cake selection- too many the same for these numbers of people.. Memorable:)
Excellent afternoon tea in a beautiful location
We thoroughly enjoyed our special afternoon tea at Cliveden today. We were greeted courteously and appreciated the concierge bringing our car to the door. The tea was excellent with a wide range of thoroughly delicious items. Thank you to all the staff for a most enjoyable afternoon.
Thank you for a lovely afternoon, such a shame the weather wasn’t good as we would have loved to go for a walk around the beautiful grounds. We will just have to come back for another visit.
Lovely food and tea, helpful and polite serving staff. Lacked a bit of atmosphere but a great experience.
The food was delicious except for the plain and fruit scones which were inferior to those I might buy in any supermarket. They were small, dry, the quantity of fruit in the fruit scone was negligible and the plain scone tasteless. The price is expensive but then that is to be expected.
Excellent service, staff are all very friendly and welcoming. Food and beverages also excellent and high quality! Very impressed and will be back in a heartbeat!
We had a lovely day, booked in for the Afternoon Tea and Spa experience, despite some initial issues with our booking. Not being informed of the time of our treatments (As well as some miscommunication) prior to arrival was an issue, which I think should be addressed for visitors in the future. Working in the NHS for over 25 years, I know its not the people on the front line who are at fault, but usually the system which fails - unfortunately its the people at the front of house who have to deal with frustrated clients. Carlos and Stuart in the spa juggled staff around to ensure myself and my family ended up having the relaxing day we had looked forward to, and all the therapists in the Spa, and staff serving afternoon tea, were wonderful.
We have been to a few afternoon teas and I would say for vegans this is the best! Would recommend and will be back with the family. Keep up the great service and the taste of the the food was amazing. Thank you!
Lovely setting, excellent service and good food. First rate.
Beautiful setting for tea with friends. Just a couple of things need addressing - a change of plate and cutlery between the savoury and sweet items ; cream and jam to share should have a spoon in each for hygiene. We were asked if we would like more sausage rolls but none were delivered and the same later re the sandwiches which were forgotten until I reminded the waiter. We were not greeted or acknowledged as we entered the main hall despite there being two male staff walking around. Was very surprised by this.
It is a fantastic experience and one to be repeated. The service, friendliness and food is all just perfect
Positive - great service from staff, flexibility to swap out items in set tea, great jam, tea top-ups. Needs improving - uninspiring sandwiches, stale brioche, tasteless scones and cakes.
