About Afternoon Tea at Cliveden
Built in 1666 by the 2nd Duke of Buckingham, as a gift to his mistress, Cliveden House has remained a pinnacle of intrigue and glamour for the elite.
Enriched with antique furniture and period features, it has stayed true to its roots whilst also providing a luxurious setting to rest, meet and play.
Now, our Grade I stately home set upon 376 acres of National Trust grounds is a luxurious five-star hotel, ready and waiting to welcome you in.
I absolutely loved the experience. We went for my sisters birthday and the service was amazing along with the food.
The setting is lovely however I would not book this again as its very expensive compared to other afternoon tea experiences and I was expecting so much more for £40 per head. Vegetarian selection needed a bit more thought put into it. The sandwiches were nothing special and not up to standard. Cakes were average. If you haven't had afternoon tea before you probably think its great but its nothing compared to afternoon tea at the Covent Garden Hotel or the Ritz which are cheaper. Overall I was disappointed as this place have everything going for it but wasn't worth the price
Very accommodating , gorgeous food and stunning venue.
Very disappointing experience. At no time did anyone explain what my voucher included., we were left unattended, we were not even offered champagne I had to ask for it. The savoury selection was sad!!!! 2 finger sandwiches, tasteless mini prawn cocktail, tiny mini quiche and half a cheese scone with marmite who on earth came up with that? Such a beautuful building and grounds such, with fantastic history such a shame . The worst Afternoon Tea I have experienced and it was a 60th Birthday Gift, please review your food selection and train your staff its the Management's fault not theres!!! I did complain and our champagne was taken off our bill but until I presented my voucher nobody knew that it wasnt included anyway!! We returned home dissappointed, thats not good
Our waiter was lovely. So friendly and polite. Nothing was too much trouble, he even got some cheese finger sandwiches for my 1yr old nephew so that he could join in! Beautiful food, incredible grounds and wonderful atmosphere. Thank you :)
We had a lovely afternoon at Cliveden and the tea was excellent. The staff were very friendly and the service was again excellent. We throughly enjoyed it.
Lovely room to enjoy afternoon tea . Shame not all the tables have a view of the garden. Staff really friendly and attentive
We had a fantastic time and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea. Staff were attentive and extremely helpful. Food was so good.
Food & drink marvellous- but water at £5.50 a rip off especially as we were not given a choice. We were charged £11 for 2 waters😡 Suggestion- to have option of more savoury less cake or visa versa ?
We had a really lovely time. Our 7 year old enjoyed the extra attention whilst still be treated like a grown up. Cannot fault the service. Food was lovely, again I particularly liked the attention to the children's afternoon tea. We will definitely return and highly recommend!
Very disappointing experience sadly Very clinical robotic service Not friendly and not willing to make it bespoke. Long waiting time at time between courses and tea, no cup change offered for different teas. Very poor quality sandwiches, very very poor. I’ve had Much better from Waitrose or at home. Scones not warm Overall a disappointing experience with a lovely view
My only comment would be I was annoyed that despite asking for tap water we were served bottled water and subsequently charged at a ridiculous price! As it was a family celebration we had a super time and I did not want to spoil it by having to complain but would like to warn others.
None needed. All perfect
We visited for an afternoon tea and had a table by the window overlooking the gardens which was wonderful. The food was excellent and the service was also very good. A very enjoyable afternoon and we look forward to returning.
A wonderful visit, my first time here and I’ll definitely be back! The only one minor thing I thought could be improved was that a few times I had to wave someone down for service, for fresh tea etc whereas I thought for that high spec a place and the prices you’re paying you shouldn’t have to do that. But it didn’t bother me too much. Everything else was perfect.
This was our third Afternoon tea in as many weeks. After visiting The Savoy and The Goring which were both delightful and very good. Having the experience of the other two fresh in our minds we felt that the afternoon tea menu at Cliveden was more diverse and everything looked and tasted amazing! Combine that with the incredible view and excellent service it really was a day to remember!
The guy who served us today was really rude... not what I expect from a 5 star place. I have been many times here and today I came for my friends 30th a lovely visit that was spoilt by a rude staff member
Excellent service, delicious food and a safe and clean environment.
An experience well worth travelling for.
Superb food served very carefully. We had lovely views out over the gardens with the trees in vibrant Autumn colours. Wonderful atmosphere and a truly memorable afternoon .Thank you to all the helpful polite staff.
The setting is fabulous and your staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and well presented, although I would say that perhaps an additional non meat sandwich would have been good - maybe egg or cucumber? And even one less cake as we took some home with us, as did most others in the room. The only other thing to mention in these strange times, is that it would be better for the staff to all have the same masks rather than random ones that are all different, and didnt seem to all fit very well. thanks for a lovely afternoon.
We had a wonderful afternoon with delicious treats (also extends to the gluten-free options). Recommend making the time to also walk around the grounds.
A very enjoyable experience
Very friendly staff, very welcoming, stunning food!
We had a really enjoyable time-far too many cakes!!
