About The Grand Hotel - Garden Restaurant
The Garden Restaurant, even with its high ceilings and period elegance, encompasses an intimate atmosphere which is both inviting and informal.
Here you can enjoy a menu based around traditional British favourites created with a modern twist. The menus are often inspired by what our chefs source locally, including fresh fish and the best produce that the surrounding Sussex farms have to offer.
The Garden Restaurant is home to breakfast, lunch and dinner and there’s always a lively buzz of conversation and a generous wine list to boot.
Across the Great Hall from the Garden Restaurant, you’ll find the Cocktail Bar and lounge, where you can enjoy a pre-dinner drink and peruse the menu of whichever restaurant you chose to visit at the Grand Hotel.
Staff was amazing! Friendly, professional and accommodating. Special thanks to Natalia.
We had a superb lunch which was enhanced by the service and the environment. The feedback we would really like for you to take on board would be to be more creative and imaginative with the vegetarian options. We are not vegetarians but both chose the garden risotto to start, which was absolutely delicious. However we noticed that there was only one vegetarian option of quiche on the main menu. We have recommended the Elite dining membership to vegetarian friends who have subsequently subscribed and feel that the choice could be widened, especially in view of the environmental move towards eating less meat. We look forward to visiting again soon.
We almost cancelled our booking when we had your email informing us that we had to vacate the table by 4.15. I don't expect this in a 5* hotel. As it happened there were plenty of empty tables around us! We could have stayed all the afternoon!
Alfresco dining in cool and windy May, but the staff did well, attentive service, good king size blankets and kept smiling.
Item forgotten on my starter. Absolutely freezing. Management really should invest in heaters on the patio. I had 3 blankets and still shivering. Didn’t make for an enjoyable experience. So we left after main course instead of staying for desert and coffee. Disappointing as it was my sons birthday.
Food is not good enough at the Grand. I am a regular diner at the Grand and have been embarrassed a number of times by inadequate quality.. I love the building. I make my own enjoyment and I will return: I have 2 bookings in my diary.. I do beg you y to o be more generous with your ingredients.
Had a lovely brunch . Sitting outside. We had the waffles absolutely recommend . Service amazing as usual.
Our outside dining experience on the Garden Terrace was wonderful.
Lunch was delicious, staff were very attentive, even though we sitting outside and the weather was cold and windy!
Had a lovely time, and thought the Covid safety precautions were well executed.
Beautifully presented food and a lovely ambiance in the outdoor terrace. Great to have blankets available but I got very cold before I asked. Lovely touches like the Happy Anniversary mini brownies. The only disappointment was the Yorkshire pudding which was very dried out. The fish cakes were sublime, the portions of roast beef were huge, the puddings were delicious and considering we had to eat outside because of Covid it was, all in all, a really great experience.
Thoroughly enjoyed our alfresco experience in the rain. It was a birthday celebration with a difference but did not dampen the day. Food excellent as always, hot and very tasteful. Service impeccable and timely.
We received a cheerful welcome when we arrived and were well looked after from start to finish. Service was perfect for us. Neither rushed nor too slow. The food was excellent too. Thanks to all of your staff.
Staff were absolutely fantastic. Very well organised and warm and friendly. We will be booking again.
We had a really fabulous lunch and so enjoyed it, the food and service were top notch, thank you very much. Will be returning soon.
A Birthday celebration on a chilly but sunny day. Excellent lunch and service. A treat during these still difficult times!
The side garden away from the pool is a stunning place for lunch. We loved every moment of it. The staff were wonderful and uniform was so apt. Thank you.
Service excellent as always. But there is no reason why at least one of the sides cannot be shielded from the freezing wind. Covid Rules allow. It totally spoilt the meal. Some guests did not stay because there was no shelter. The meal went cold in a few minutes despite the 'warmers' under. Could not stay for dessert or coffee this time. Infra red patio heaters are also allowed!
Lovely staff, it was very cold outside but the staff went out of there way providing us with blankets. Was disappointed with the food the vegetables with the steak were undercooked and the chips were undercooked but the steak was first class, would definitely come back, but when we can sit inside again. The host on the door who was excellent, Ben went out of his one looking after us. My husband is partially sighted so it was lovely to feel we where in safe surroundings
Lovely to be back! Look forward to booking again soon.
What a great way to break out of lockdown - lunch at The Grand. And so good to see Ben back in action 🤗 The chef did us proud with an excellent meal. Thank you all
Great service as usual. Strong wind and marauding seagulls made for an interesting al fresco afternoon tea. Thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon but felt a few more sandwiches and a few less cakes would be better. Maybe give the customers the choice of more bread/less cake.
Ordered lobster and when served it was luke warm. My husband had finished his main when my lobster returned a smaller version but hotter. Ordered tea and coffee tea came without milk and when waiter came back my tea was cold. It was very cold although sunny but not a very overall good experience. It was very expensive and not really worth the money. Its a shame as I had been in hospital all week and was looking forward to the treat.
We live in Woldingham which is about an hour and a half away.We so enjoyed lunch yesterday we are going to try to book again next week
