About The Grain Barge
Situated on a barge on the River Avon, The Grain Barge is a unique Bristol experience, named one of Britain's best pubs with a view. Serving pub classics along with new seasonal dishes, using fresh produce from our own Five Acre farm, a great breakfast menu and an extensive choice of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Fantastic Roasts on a Sunday. A great selection of local ales and ciders, along with some regional gins. Coffee from Clifton Coffee Roasters, we pride ourselves in using local suppliers and helping the community. We are also dog friendly.
Food was lovely and staff were so friendly and accommodating
The staff are going above and beyond to make you feel comfortable in these strange times. I cannot thank them enough for being able to give you space and offer you different tables to enjoy the sunshine. The food is good and well priced and the beer is fantastic.
Service was superb throughout. Very accommodating staff. Will definitely return. Food & drink great. Big up for being so dog friendly. Booked for a Sunday afternoon and I can’t thank the staff enough for the 2 hourly slot at short notice. Thanks
Great beer and service, felt happy being out as the Covid rules were adhered to by the bar staff
Yummy food and the staff were friendly and made sure they explained everything fully xxx
Excellent service and lovely food
Thank you! It was a lovely afternoon :)
Had a lovely evening out at the Grain Barge - yummy mussels, fries and wine. They also very kindly let me put my bike on the boat because I had forgotten my lock. Service was slightly slower than expected, but I think this is completely understandable given changes in circumstances due to Covid-19 and reduced number of staff.
Staff are really friendly and drinks offering is great.
Waiter was SO friendly and really accommodating, we weren’t waiting long for anything. Really nice food too!
The staff were wonderful.
Excellent all round.!
Great views, lovely food and ambience, especially as it was my birthday that day. Enjoy.
A lovely place with a great view on the River Avon ! Social distanciation and hygienic measures were perfectly respected. Beers are excellent, the mussels too even if we would have loved a bigger portion (but it would have been out of sheer gluttony!). Waiters are really nice, welcoming and thoughtful. We spent a really great evening!
We had a great time finishing off the weekend having a drink at the Grain Barge. The staff were friendly and welcoming and we felt safe with the new Covid rules that were in place. We are please the Grain Barge is back open.
I did have a couple of minor issues with the booking I'm afraid. Firstly I felt that there was not enough distance between our party and a table of six near us. We were at the front of the boat inside. (the Avon Gorge End) Second, someone put the music on rather too loud, so we had to shout to be heard. I thought that the guidelines were that music, if played was to be very low level. To be fair, when I asked for the music to be turned down, this was done immediately. But it is something you should keep an eye on. But on a good note, the steaks were awesome and great value
Service was very slow it really did affect the meal experience as we waited a long time for drinks and for the bill. I understand COVID 19 affects things but it was slower than our previous visit and less busy in the venue
Thank you for having us to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Some of us were nervous to be eating inside a restaurant for the first time in months but your staff really put us at ease and it all felt really well managed. It will definitely go down as a memorable experience! But a very positive one. I think you have done a great job interpreting what must be very complicated guidelines in these strange times!
We arrived at 7.45pm. We were given drinks. We waited for someone to ask us what we wanted to eat and absolutely no staff came over to the table. When we flagged a member of staff they said the kitchen had closed ten minutes earlier. No one told us on arrival when the kitchen was closing. This was a ruined evening. Will not come to the grain barge and will recommend that people don't go here.
Always a great experience. Good beer, good food. The fennel salad was outstanding!
The servers we had on Tuesday evening were all absolutely amazing and a true credit to you. They all made us feel very welcome and were so friendly considering the no doubt stressful and busy time they were having.
Great staff, really good time made better by them, all credit to them
Food stopped being served at 6pm on Sunday, it would have been great to eat something.
A very friendly welcome and a staff member was good enough to ring us beforehand to let us know that no food was available after 6pm on a Sunday. An unusual and interesting venue.
Can't wait for Sunday roast!
