About The Grain Barge
Situated on a barge on the River Avon, The Grain Barge is a unique Bristol experience, named one of Britain's best pubs with a view. Serving pub classics along with new seasonal dishes, using fresh produce from our own Five Acre farm, a great breakfast menu and an extensive choice of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Fantastic Roasts on a Sunday. A great selection of local ales and ciders, along with some regional gins. Coffee from Clifton Coffee Roasters, we pride ourselves in using local suppliers and helping the community. We are also dog friendly.
Excellent, great portion size, delicious food and wonderful beer.
It was my 75th birthday and we all had a great reunion. The grub was good the service excellant I always love coming there, less so in the dark winter because of the cyclist gauntlet.
Our main course arrived before we had had time to eat any of our starter and the table behind us were having fun but extremely noisy. Not your fault, or theirs, just difficult.Could do with more vegetables.Otherwise definitely happy and would book again.
excellent food but service was very slow (although friendlyand helpful) - it seemed that you were understaffed
Lovely evening celebrating my daughter's 16th birthday, thank you. Very much appreciated the cake, and the great service from Cherry. Quiz was fun too!
Thanks for a great meal! We chose to sit in a different table by the window, which the staff were very accommodating with. Food was delicious (especially the steak) great evening all round.
Great roast, good service and brilliant welcoming atmosphere and stunning situation and views
Great Sunday lunch with all the trimmings...
Great experience. Staff were really helpful when altering booking, friendly and attentive and it was delicious pizza. Thanks!
Great experience, food gorgeous. The only comment I would make is can you stock semi skimmed milk please?
Very slow service
We waited over 2 hours after our booking time for our food to arrive and when it eventually did it was practically left over meats from the day and one very small potato each. We were starving after the wait so ate it all but considering it was a special occasion it was a very disappointing experience. We had a very apologetic waitress, however the overall experience was negative.
Very accommodating, great roasts and a lovely vibe overall.
I can’t fault the staff. Superb service from the first phone call to book a table for a special birthday. They were really accommodating as we wanted to have a coffee and cake event and allowed us to bring our own cakes they provided plates and cutlery and a great service on the bar. Great atmosphere and views. Will definitely recommend.
All the staff were very helpful and the service was spot on.
Really dissapointing. We booked in advance for a birthday meal. When we arrived the staff seemed completely unaware and uninterested, we eventually got seen and taken to a table and then was left without any introduction or offer of menus or drinks. We waited to no avail and finally went to the bar to ask for menus, we were told to get our own from the shelf (we weren't told this when we arrived) and then sat deciding what to eat. The staff were all stood around talking and ignoring customers coming in. We decided to leave and went elsewhere. Wouldn't reccomend and really gutted as my friend had been so looking forward to the riverside experience
Great food and service as always!
Went on a thursday, steak night. It took 1 hour for our food to arrive, and none of the steaks were cooked as ordered. Staff full of apologies, had free drinks while we waited for steaks to be cooked properly, but it took another 40 mins before steaks arrived! But this time all was as should be, just poor that in a party of four, half of us ate at different time to other half.
My go to place for Sunday lunch when visiting Bristol. Never disappoints
Love this place! Food is always amazing and great drinks selection is ace. Only reason I gave 4 stars for service is because we didn't get table service like other tables but honestly wasn't an issue.
Reserved a table so was disappointed we had the worst table in boiling hot sun. We moved and watched 4 separate customers sit and promptly move! The beef was tough as old boots. Waitress was lovely though.
Very friendly staff, a little disappointed at the lack of gluten free options for sunday lunch.
Friendly staff, well presented food, great view
Usually love the Grain Barge but was really disappointed this time. Turned up to our dinner reservation to be told they had a big party on and they weren't taking food orders... But I'd brought my visiting family for dinner! Then they said we could order but there'd be a 20 minute wait, we said no problem. Our food arrived cold an hour later, no one came to check on us so couldn't signal that there was a problem. Then they had the cheek to add a service charge (to a table of 3!) which we asked to be removed... They said that was fine but when we said it was because the food was cold and took an hour to arrive the waitress didn't even offer an apology. Really poor service and will think twice about coming again. Really ruined the evening.
I have held a couple of company quizzes at Grainbarge and the team have always been really helpful and make the organisation easy. Great staff and an awesome venue!
