About The Grain Barge
Situated on a barge on the River Avon, The Grain Barge is a unique Bristol experience, named one of Britain's best pubs with a view. Serving pub classics along with new seasonal dishes, using fresh produce from our own Five Acre farm, a great breakfast menu and an extensive choice of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Fantastic Roasts on a Sunday. A great selection of local ales and ciders, along with some regional gins. Coffee from Clifton Coffee Roasters, we pride ourselves in using local suppliers and helping the community. We are also dog friendly.
Food was excellent quality, staff were very friendly and quick.
The drink selection and the food was good, however it was let down by the service - for a table of ten all meals came out at different times, despite being on the same table number, and some dishes were wrong/forgotten. Not great for a birthday celebration when the birthday boy receives his meal 20mins after everyone else! Might just stick to cider in the future. Shame as I’ve had some good roast dinners here in the past.
My booking had not recorded properly on the system at the Grain Barge - however a table was organised quickly. Local beers very good. Friendly atmosphere and good service. The Sunday lunch was warm rather than piping hot - it therefore cooled rather quickly. Meat was good - veg a great mix but a bit hard. Slightly on the expensive side.
We were a group of 32! So pretty big group and we had a wonderful time with a buffet dinner, lots of food and drink and a great atmoshpere.
This was our first meal in the Grain Barge and will be our last. The food, at best was mediocre. The place was not what we thought for a prime spot on Bristol Waterfront. If you're young and not particularly interested in food, and don't mind sticky tables you might be ok. Very disappointing.
Great place to meet friends, good buzzy atmosphere, food very good, maybe a bit slow getting served at the bar but the staff are very friendly and helpful. We look forward to our next visit.
Had a team lunch, really happy with service, food and the scenery was great too!
Had a really good time , had a large group and everyone liked their food , love the place
Hi Walked past the restaurant many times and decided to book for Sunday Lunch . We were early but it was no problem for the staff, who were knowledgable and friendly .the meal was excellent along with the staff . We will definately come again
Very slow service and massively disorganised. I had checked the website before booking and not all things advertised were available. It also didn't mention that only roast dinners are available on a Sunday, which I am not a fan of and ended up having to eat. The staff were very friendly and happy to help but with 2 small children, I wouldn't choose to go back again.
Such a lovely and delicious lunch - was super busy but staff were so lovely and we weren’t waiting around for our food for long! Nice to have somewhere that’s happy for dogs to come in too 🐶
A few of the bar staff were quite unhelpful, looking annoyed that I'd asked for a drink... One boy with blond hair seemed particularly upset/annoyed that I'd asked for a Milk Stout. I get it you're busy, I've worked in the same environment, but just keep it pleasant to customers... It also took 40 mins for one dessert to come out, it was fathers day but others who ordered the same time came way before. Also just wanted to mention portion size - the veggie wellington was very very thinly sliced, not neearly as much as I had with a whole pie's worth!
Excellent! Thank you!
Great friendly staff and fantastic burgers
Great place,fab,helpful,friendly staff,lovely food and drink !!
Loved the food - really really tasty and plentiful. Views are amazing if you can score a table on the water-side of the boat! Good vibe, music maybe a bit too loud to call it a 'peaceful date' atmosphere but me and my girlfriend still really enjoyed it.
An amazing location. Booked the Hold Barge for a special birthday and was very impressed with everything. They were very helpful throughout the organisation process and Rebecca and her team were lovely on the night. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was delicious. They helped to make it a memorable experience 😊
We ordered Sunday roast which came out in good time but overall the food was cold, the veg undercooked, the potatoes over cooked and I needed a saw for my beef! I was really disappointed. However I did complain and I was offered a free pudding which was nice but it doesn’t take away from the fact that the standard of the food was woeful! Also it was so noisy in there, I’ve been in loads of times and enjoyed the food and atmosphere but yesterday not so sadly.
The food is consistently good, as is the beer. The coffee, however, is sometimes disappointing - seems to be less than fresh. Maybe it’s just not to my taste! The staff are great.
Great views of docks too
Second visit to grain barge on a Sunday for the roast, first time customer service was excellent, this time it just felt like it was bit of an effort for the staff on at the time, but food was extremely tasty
The Grain Barge is my favourite place to chill when the sun is out but on Sunday I booked a table for my boyfriends 30th, the orders kept coming out wrong the food was poor, we had to keep asking where the rest of the food was and loads of wrong food kept coming out then they put it on our tab even though we hadn’t ordered it, in fairness it was a shambles and it has really put me off coming back
Could not fault it!
The food was terrible. Meat cold and chewy. Roast veg lacking, not much gravy and generally poor roast dinner for the price. Got there and table was out for the wrong number of people and service was very slow.
We asked to eat on the deck as is was very busy and noisy inside.staff were were helpful. We went on deck and found a ,table, opposite us were were a bunch of lads talking very loudly and some were spitting into the water. We did not stay for the meal. Staff were very helpful but seemed very busy, we explained that we would not stay and they were very understanding. Found a quiet restaurant down the road which was great.
