About The Globe Inn Marsh Rye
A pretty little clapperboard pub on the outskirts of the historic yet happening town of Rye where the Miltary Canal meets the River Rother, The Globe Inn Marsh has been the talk of Rye since it opened in 2013, with its “sheep-shack chic” interiors and warm Ramblinns hospitality. We don’t have rooms but we’ve lots of friends who do. Just ask and we’ll make arrangements for you.
After being here at the Globe for more than six years and as it had become a bit ‘tatty’, we have taken the opportunity during the forced closure to renovate our Inn, bringing you a fresh look and offering protected spaces and 'distancing', still ensuring all our guests enjoy and feel safe during their visit to us.
Although we have always believed that the essence of a true public house is to be there, accessible to all, at any time, without the need to book. However, in order to safely ‘manage space’ and to avoid unreasonable gathering, we are going to ask you to book with us in advance if you are intending to eat and, I am afraid to say, those who seek to enjoy just a drink will be welcome anytime, providing we can offer you a seat or a stool. Standing at the bar, popular with so many, cannot happen.
We will, of course, be guided by the Authorities, but rest assured we know that ultimately it will be our Guests that judge those who have best provided for their well being and we hope we have gone a long way to reassure you, both in the way we look, how we endeavour to protect you and, the way we behave!
Our tables now are a little more enclosed and protected, and to help you choose and remember the table that best suits your needs, we have given them all names, from the wonderful Fauna, Flora and Fish that abound around us, and these names can be found on our table arrangement plan available to all so that you can choose a table that best meets your needs and might become your favourite!
We came twice in one week, enjoyed our meals very much and the house bitter is terrific. Service was good, our waitress certainly worked hard with good humour. One only thing we thought wrong was that everyone is pretty will packed in, our table being very close with little protection between. We wish you well and look forward to coming again after the lockdown.
Great food, great service!
COVID-19 measures in place were great. The atmosphere was lovely and food amazing!
Thank you for a lovely evening. Big shout out to Tom, who looked after us - he is an absolute super star!!! I look forward to seeing you all soon. Greta x

We felt secure and comfortable enjoying this last delicious meal out before lockdown. Thanks
Great to come back and have another meal. See you all again soon !!
Friendly atmosphere, reliably good food and service
Wonderful lunch - absolutely best vegetables I have had with a meal in a long time
I very nearly booked a morning slot by accident Am pm could be a useful indicator It’s not clear that it’s a 24 hour clock when the pm slots are unavailable Otherwise, seamless ! Fab meal, staff and environment too
Lovely country pub with a good food selection
Wonderful. Staff, ambience, food was delicious.
Charming, little place that's really comfortable and snug. Good selection of food but not enough for us vegans!
On the whole a great experience, love the staff
The ambience and setting were great, and the staff friendly and welcoming. We had previously come here for a drink and really enjoyed it, so we thought we would return for dinner. The starters for dinner were fine, however we were very disappointed by the steak and chips. When paying £27 for steak, chips and a sauce I would expect top quality - this price is on a par with the top London steakhouses. However, our medium rare steaks were burnt on the outside, chewy and lacking in flavour. It was like they had been cooked in an overhot grill to char the outside, however this charring was too much, giving them a bitter, burnt taste. I usually love the fat on a steak, but this had been burnt black and was unpleasant. The chips had no taste to them and it was as if they had been cooked from frozen given their blandness and very uniform shape - we ended up not eating many of our chips. A shame. as would be a cracking place if either the price was reduced to a more realistic level, or if the cooking quality was lifted to match the price. I have no problem paying premium prices for premium food, but this wasn't premium, more like below average pub grub.
Great decor and atmosphere. Food was spot on. Good selection.
Brilliant service and fantastic food as always. Hope to visit again soon.
