About The Gin House Wimborne
This speakeasy is the first of its kind in Wimborne and a sister establishment to The Tap House next door. Take a step back in time whilst you put yourself in the hands of a skilled bartender. Boasting one of the UK’s largest gin menus.
Nestled in Wimborne in an old paint shop, an intimate cocktail bar has been quietly built. Think old style speakeasy. The former stock room in the back of the building is the low lit lounge with a small bar in the front stocking various liquors from around the world. With comfortable tables and couches The Gin House is a warm prohibition style cocktail bar perfect for those rainy nights. You can sip on local gin and tonics, choose a classic cocktail like an “Old Fashioned” or be daring and have one of our bartenders concoct one of their favourites.
I booked as part of my sisters birthday celebration, as she had visited The Gin House before and loved it. On arrival we were advised that not all Gins were available. We were then handed menus and the waitress generally did not have an awareness of what was available which we felt was poor. There were no snacks available as previous in her previous, not even a bag of crisps or nuts. All in all given that we booked some weeks previous we feel we should have been advised of the situation prior to our arrival to allow us to make a judgment. Very disappointed hence the low scores. Excellent place. Online booking system could be improved.
We had a lovely evening but were just disappointed to have to vacate the table after two hours. We were having a great time and were ready to carry on ordering drinks.
Another lovely start to the evening at the Gin House, have never had a bad experience here. Friendly attentive staff and amazing gins in a welcoming atmosphere, what’s not to like?
Great place to start off an evening of birthday celebrations. Need to visit again to try more of the cocktails!
Love the happy hour!
We really enjoyed the selection of gins on offer and whilst the male member of staff that served us was great, there was a female member of staff that absolutely refused eye contact or would come anywhere near us. I don't know if this is because they are only supposed to serve certain tables or we were just too old for her to bother with
Best place in Wimborne to chill out, I'm tempted to say best place in Dorset too. Great drinks, Great atmosphere, great lighting and seating and aesthetic too. Staff are friendly and know how to make a cocktail.
My famiy and I spent a very enjoyable evening at The Gin House over Christmas. The staff were helpful and friendly and made us an array of delicious cocktails. We really enjoyed the lower music volume which meant we could chat easily to each other and look forward to coming back in the new year to try a few more cocktails.
We booked a table for New Year’s Eve , service excellent and friendly. Music not as good as usual- could have been a better play list for the occasion. We also thought some ‘nibbles ‘ available would have been good. We had to share toilets with a private event at back of venue . A great place though .
Very friendly helpful staff
Great place , the gin house !
Just a great venue, have been countless times and a firm favourite with everyone who goes there. Worth breaking Dry January for
Great atmosphere and 241 Happy Hour makes it great value. Lovely cocktails.
Had an excellent time at our xmas do and the Gin House team were very polite and accomodating :)
Nice evening lighting too bright, don’t think it’s really necessary for staff to start cleaning the brass tables with brasso around clients who are still enjoying their drinks at 11.15 pm
We went for happy hour and had some really nice cocktails and a very helpful waitress to recommend ... We will return
Very nice staff very good friendly and help full
there was only one member of staff on duty, so although he was doing his best, service was inevitably a bit too slow.
Great service and friendly atmosphere. We booked a table for 15 and finished our evening here, a great time had by all!
Unique and quirky
I little small and table was only for 2 hours , cocktails were lovely but a little expensive .only bar nibble available, The experience was great and would recommend a visit . Other eating and drinking establishments near by so so the 2 hour table slots are not a problem really . Will go back
Had to wait 30 mins for a table booked at 9pm & drinks Found it unacceptable that the people in our table weren’t asked to leave until we arrived. Service was VERY slow
