More important, the locality assures the availability of fresh fish, which is guaranteed to be always of the best quality and the freshest on the market. Last, but not least, we offer some tempting desserts.
Booked because reviews were good but after our starter we waited an hour for our mains with other people arriving after us served before us. We did ask where our food was but the waitress didn't come back to us. We ended up walking out as there was no sign of our food ever coming! We definately wouldn't go again.
I would advise anyone looking to dine at the Gillieru to think again, we had an absolutely appalling experience. The food was extremely poor and the service was just as disappointing, nobody knew anything about the menu, what specials were on or even what desserts were available that evening. We ordered seafood but needless to say over half of it was completely inedible. When we politely raised the issue with the restaurant manager, and hotel manager we were just shrugged off and quite frankly they couldn’t care less. In fact they even became quite aggressive towards us. I would implore anybody looking for a pleasant experience to not book here and try somewhere else instead.
We had a lovely meal at Gillieru with family and friends. The food was flavoursome and the service from restaurant staff was attentive and very helpful. When we return to Malta in summer I will be re-booking to hopefully sit outside next time, was the stormy weekend when we visited!!!
We took a taxi for 20 mins with two young children only to find the restaurant closed even though we had booked a table and even changed it by 45 mins online and received emails confirming the original and altered bookings- A disastrous trip. Never returning.
