About The George Hotel and Beach Club
The Conservatory is a family-friendly brasserie-style restaurant with a light airy interior and uninterrupted views of the Solent. The food here is fabulously unfussy and dishes are created and cooked from the wonderful natural Isle of Wight larder. While away a few hours under an umbrella watching the sail boats zip past or dine by the seawall looking out across the small shingle beach and the sea beyond.
Fantastic food, excellent service and great ambience. Will definitely be back.
Came for Christmas lunch.. often a difficult thing to get right. From the welcome champagne to the petit fours, it was great. Great food, great service.
Very attentive & excellent service. We were well looked after especially given it was Xmas Day. The food was well presented, delicious and good portion sizes. The beef Wellington was very good although the large lump of beef was a little overwhelming - perhaps 3-4 thinner slices would have been better. But we would definitely do the same again & be happy to repeat the experience for the same price. We thoroughly enjoyed it. And we especially liked not being rushed off our table to leave, so it didn’t feel like we were part of a multiple booking system. Thank you for helping our Christmas Day to be so enjoyable.
We had the next table apertizers. Four people were on our table. The young lad gave us a plate for two people. Amazed how he got that wrong. The service throughout was not as good as it should be, for example the sweets came out at different times to each other. We didn’t get our drinks orders very quickly, and our tea never arrived at all. I thought the restaurant was very plain in decoration, not matching the beautiful entrance. The George could be an amazing restaurant if they get the service right. However I’ve been going for ten years (not @ Xmas) and it doesn’t improve, which is such a shame.
Lovely staff and Christmas Day venue, a home from home, comfortable beds and child friendly too...
Brilliant service and delicious food!
My husband and I were thrilled with our Christmas Day visit. The beautifully decorated exterior complimented the stunning interior. The staff were always very attentive and polite. The food was delectable and I was very impressed with the amount of thought which went into my request for a vegetarian lunch. From the canapés to the main course. Delicious!!! Huge compliments to your chef and team. We often stay in top European hotels over the Christmas period but our day at the George far exceeded all of them. THANKYOU.
Lovely food, efficient and friendly staff. Good luck to them during this horrible time.
Lovely evening at The George. Food was delicious. Great service.Thank you. We will be back.
Beautiful food and professional, friendly service.
Absolutely fabulous meal on Saturday night. Delicious and perfect in every way. Lovely cosy, Christmas atmosphere and staff all lovely. Thank you 😊 All 5 meals were perfect.
Great to see the George getting back to it's best.
Stunning food after the warmest welcome with exceptional service. Thank you!
Absolutely beautiful lunch, the additional vegan menu was a triumph, thankyou so much for making our business lunch feel like a celebration xx
The lunch menu was interesting, the food well presented and delicious and the service excellent. We would highly recommend The George.
The Hotel was beautifully decorated and we received a warm welcome as soon as we walked in. The two course lunch was delicious and very well presented. We went for the winter offer which includes a foot passenger return journey on the ferry and two courses which we thought was very good value.
Both the food and service were great (and our lunch at The George Hotel was a wonderful treat for my dear London friend who is returning to Tier 3 as of tomorrow).
Set lunch menu was great value, generous portions. Sadly my friend wasn’t allowed to have a starter from set menu combined with a main from a la carte even though she was willing to pay more. Seemed a bit odd considering there was only one other table occupied in the restaurant so the kitchen wasn’t busy! However, overall we both left full and happy.
This is the second time we have come here - first time service was awful, this time better. This time as well as last time though I have to say our evening was ruined by a very loud table of 6 people who spoke so loudly you could hear every word from the other side of the room. As a family neither us or the kids could even hear ourselves think and we left .. it’s such a shame - selfish of these guests who were clearly having a lovely time but as it is at the moment going out is precious. There should be more respect for others around. In future maybe sit loud tables like this away from considerate family diners and couples.
It’s great to be back. Perfect Sunday lunch. Thank you.
My friend and I came for a celebratory breakfast which was delicious, disappointed that we couldn’t have a glass of champagne after around 10.45 the waitress took our order we chose which champagne we wanted , we moved from the restaurant to the bar to then be told by a gentleman we were unable to have it as you don’t have a license until 12pm ! We were quite surprised and disappointed.
Great service from the staff who are helpful, friendly and a credit to the hotel. Our only reservation is the cost of the wine in the restaurant. It should be feasible to have a resonably priced house wine but otherwise a lovely hotel.
Excellent meal, fabulous surroundings and great service. Would recommend.
Celebrated my mums 70th at lunchtime here! Had the winter set menu! Food was lovely, great view and our waitress was lovely!
Food was absolutely faultless Well done to the team
