About The George
Set in the picturesque village of Burpham in the South Downs National Park. Just over 2 miles from Arundel, The George at Burpham is a traditional 17th Century country pub which has been providing warm hospitality and refreshments to villagers and visitors alike for over 300 years
Excellent as usual. Only one comment didn't see any hand sanitizer station upon entering. But still felt safe.
Very busy place on a hot steamy day during EOTHO, but the service was outstanding. The head of Front of House is clearly a very experienced and capable woman. Thanks to all the team.
All good. The only picky complaint is not really related to the pub. People stop their cars by the outside tables either to let people out, figure out where they will park or even turn around gassing everyone outside, esp on a hot summer evening.
All Very pleasant we will be back, when the weather is cooler.
Service and atmosphere excellent, and all was pretty good vfm. Sunday roast and veg were good but the roast potatoes were not crispy and the Yorkshire pud was a bit overdone; the starter of a felafel scotch egg sounded great but although taste was good, texture was very soft and creamy, not at all like felafel. However the Mediterranean mezze starter was good, very tasty.
Food is always so yummy surrounded by a gorgeous setting. And staff so attentive, but not over baring. We love it up at the George.
The pub and food were both lovely, however I wasn’t impressed with the lack of COVID controls in place. As a minimum, I would have expected the tables to be cleaned.
Great food and impressively swift service. Cannot fault. Will be back
Two words - First Class
We had a great lunch thank you...
Always a friendly welcome, great service and lively food. One of my favourite restaurants.
Excellent steak and fresh mackerel.
Really enjoyed the food and the staff were very friendly. Sat outside and it was very pleasant and shady. Only down side was a few large cars having to reverse back and close to our table as the car park was full.?
Great pub with a welcoming reception and tasty food, but we were disappointed that the sandwich menu - which includes some interesting open versions - was not available on Saturday which was not clear on the website. However not quite sure if this was due to the current situation or if it is always the case.
Staff are amazing. We have been such a lot of evenings but our fri eve was the best ever. Top notch.
Excellent friendly staff good COVID procedures in place
The food, staff and location were perfect.
We were on a walk which recommended the George as the place to have lunch. The staff were welcoming, friendly and the service and attention was excellent. We did not have to wait long from ordering to arrival of the food, which was very good and worth the price. Definitely need to book as seems very popular. Will be going back and recommend.
Delicious meal and good service also. We had a wonderful evening.
Simply my favourite place to go. Great food, lovely people, great service.
We were served by a lady who said she lives above the pub she was absolutely lovely, friendly, helpful, chatty and was great at her job
Lovely lunch with great service.
Super food and very friendly staff.
