About The Game Bird at The Stafford London
The Game Bird is a contemporary tale about relaxed, informal dining any time of the day. A place to eat, drink and socialise, the focus is on modern British comfort cooking executed with style and panache, all wrapped in a seductive ambience that oozes cool sophistication.
We had a really lovely lunch at the Game Bird. The food was wonderful as was the service. The service wasn’t overly fussy too, which was refreshing.
Fab as always!
This has become our favorite “gourmet night out” in London. Every dish is impeccably created, presented and served, and the flavors are divine. The staff is very attentive without being intrusive, and their wine list and knowledge is encyclopedic. Cannot say enough about our dining experiences here! Things we found exceptional: smoked trout, smoked salmon cart (3 kinds), roasted carrots side dish, potatoes forestiere, guinea fowl, halibut, cottage pie.
Service took way too long. I would not return
great house great stuff, pay attention on, that big players dont catch your stuff away
Incredible value and enjoyable quality Sunday Lunch. Attentive and friendly service not intrusive. Minor points Why if restaurant empty sit a poor couple adjacent to me? I wasn't concerned but felt sorry for the couple unless they specified seat location. I was bit confused regards American Bar and the main Game Bird restaurant regards menus and seating options e.g. Patio area very pleasant. These did not spoil my lunch only points of assistance. Your staff were brilliant especially the friendly American Bar server and my main restaurant waiter. Thanks for a most memorable pleasant lunch prior to going to the theatre. You made my day trip from Scarborough ' special ' I hope to return in late November when attending a Winston Churchill function at nearby James Fox cigar merchants.
Very nice food. Very old school.
Our server was fantastic. A couple of areas for feedback: The service was a little slow for bringing out sandwiches- especially if you are in a hurry to catch a matinee performance. The room smelled a little of stale cigars but I guess this is because it was near to the cigar room. The service before when I was enquiring about high tea was slightly rude- I did tweet about this but received no response. Many thanks
The food was ok but the special (grouse) was quite dry and uninteresting. Food and drinks were expensive for what they were.
Had afternoon tea at this amazing restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised to find the hotel on a quiet picturesque street. We were cheerfully greeted by the staff and seated at our table. I had made the reservation last minute but was able to easily book. Tea was delicious, the sweets and sandwiches were fresh, locally inspired and plentifully. Our amazing waiter even took my mum and I on a special tour to their wine cellar. It was outstanding!! The highlight of our London trip. We didn’t catch his name but we want to thank him so much for taking the time to go the extra mile! Overall, I would recommend to anyone looking to get away from the tourist traps and enjoy a true london experience!
The lunch was going very well, until we realised the sides we ordered hadn't appeared. On checking, we discovered they had not been put through - as a result, they arrived after we had eaten our main; one was raw, and the other covered in an allergen we had alerted the staff to. This took the shine off the meal and even though we didn't pay for the sides, this, plus the continual having to ask for more water, left us not keen to return.
Many thanks to the charming service team. We enjoyed the great food and had a memorable evening.
Thank you for a wonderful and memorable evening, the drinks, service and food were all superbe and it was a great setting to catch up with friends!
A very pleasant evening. Cocktails, food, wine and service were all outstanding and with a charming, quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Old school and first class with it. The steak and ale suet pudding was unbelievably sumptuos and on a par with the lobster mac 'n' cheese I had on my last visit. Crepe Suzettte flambéed table-side was also rather special. My two companions had vegetarian and vegan options and were equally impressed with those. My partner had a Pavlova, also flambéed and a wonderful spectacle.
It was great. It always is and I look forward to hearing from you when you have grouse on the menu so I can come and have one. I would recommend the Bernadotte claret to other diners as pretty good quality without being ridiculously expenses - however you have a slight shortage of clarets in the £50-£70 range.
The whole experience from start to finish was totally amazing. Absolutely delicious food and impeccable service.
The restaurant gave us a wide range of game meat to choose from, very impressed and had a fantastic meal. Looking forward to going again soon
An excellent restaurant and lovely place to stay in the heart of London.
Awful cigar odor spoils the dining area
We had an excellent meal and dining experience at The Game Bird. However, our overall experience did not start well. As I was told I was unable to reserve a space in the American Bar before dinner, I had found a seat until my two friends arrived. I was told the seat I was in was reserved (for a hotel resident) and then, because there were not enough seats for my friends, the barman told me he could not serve me without seats. So we had an embarrassing dilemma. Having waited, we eventually managed to get a table, but time had now passed and, when the waiter came along, he cleared previous guests’ glasses but could not take our order at the same time. Quite honestly, I would expect more of an establishment like the Stafford. The processes need to be reviewed and can I suggest that, if someone has a dinner reservation, they should expect to be able to have a seat in the bar for a pre-dinner drink. It was incredibly embarrassing to be told we could not be served. I was meeting friends who had not seen each other for over 10 years. I am not one to make a fuss but I was mortified by my experience in the bar.
Bloody brilliant. You could walk in in shorts or white tie and you would be met with a smile.
Enjoyed a special birthday meal with family at The Game Bird; the staff were very attentive and contributed to a lovely occasion. Th set lunch meal was excellent, and good value.
We booked The Game Bird as a treat for our 25th wedding anniversary and were so looking forward to it but sadly it was really disappointing. The fish starters were lovely, especially the crab and monkfish. However we ordered the Cote de boeuf for a main and it was poor. It was fatty and bland, the gravy was salty, the roast potatoes were old and unseasoned. When we made a comment to the waiter about the beef he just brushed it off. He didn't offer to replace, amend or take anything off the bill. Such a shame we really thought we were going to spoil ourselves but sadly that wasn't the case. The wine waiter was excellent as were the bar staff in the Cocktail bar.
The Stafford is an oasis and I always enjoy my visit. The service is excellent without being intrusive and the staff are always so friendly and helpful. My two friends were first time guests and they thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. Thank you.
