About The Funky Bear Tamworth
Quirky yet slick, blending classic with the modern.Bringing Gastro delights made from fresh ingredients.
Great place. Surprised at how quiet it was on a Friday night! Outstanding attentive and friendly service. Great decor. A little overpriced. Really interesting food but chips were definitely undercooked. The waffle burger was surprisingly great!
2nd time we have visited the Tamworth restaurant, the food is delicious excellent value for money, would highly recommend, going to try the Mere Green one next time as they have a lot bigger menu, but I would give 5* to this restaurant though 👍👍
One starters and one dessert brought out wrong. Food was average. Will not return
Service was shocking waited ages for food to be delivered even know the restaurant was almost empty other people had complained and had been given refunds, would not return ever again.
The bar staff were always in the kitchen and had to wait for them to come and serve, there was no table service had to order at the bar and pay in advance for every drink, starter, mains and puddings the food choice is basically burgers and pizza we also didn’t get the desserts we ordered but couldn’t be arsed to complain as it would of taken a lifetime. No wonder the place was empty.
Drinks were amazing -the cocktails However the food was not , sloppy pizza and bland kebab skewers
We came to the funky bear tamworth on saturday night after seeing pictures on instagram and seeing what they have on the menu to then arrive and have nothing that we had seen on the menu! All the food was very basic, tasteless and very overcooked to where our meat was crumbling and ridiculously chewy. We had traveled 30 minutes to eat here and was very dissatisfied, although the service was brilliant and we got a refund when complained!
Staff were rude, unhelpful, seemed a chore to serve us even though this is their job and what the get paid to do. Food was average at least, don’t order burgers they are cremated, chips are cold.
Long wait for service and food (over an hour, we were only the second table to order!). Food was very good
The childrens 3 course meal was definitely worth the money, perhaps an exemplar image would be useful next to the menu so you can see how much food you actually getting. I had over ordered for my little boys (never a bad thing) and ended up taking a lot of it home with me. Great atmosphere, lots to look at, especially for amazed children!
We hired the back room for my daughter and fiance engagement get together, couldn't of asked for a better service. Thanks to such friendly and helpful staff.
The food took nearly an hour to arrive despite being nearly empty in the restaurant. When the food finally arrived some was missing and most was cold. We had to ask for compensation. We got free desserts which took ages to arrive and the sticky toffee pudding was raw with no sugar in the mix. No wonder you make people pay upfront so they can’t walk out.
Food was very good cannot complain about it , how ever we did wait for over an hour for the food and when it did arrive we was missing part of it
Took my partner there Friday, for her special 40th , table booked for 7pm , left standing at the book in screen for bout 10 mins then asked to sit in snug area , was left there till 740 then we had to ask are we getting our table , had to take menu to order at bar and pay just seemed a little crappy mise as Well gone to the amington grill :( , ordered the food about 1 hour later 2 peoples food come out then 5/10 mins apart the rest slowly come out after going to the bar to ask how long food was going to be 2/3 times, some people had nearly finished there food while others had only just started but the joke of it was the girl who's 40th was was last to be bought out like 10 mins after every single person had there food put on table , not a great night tbh shame cause food was nice but service is shocking it wasn't even busy , I do though thank the staff for bringing the birthday cake out for us , this was my 2nd trip to the funky bear and now both times have been spoilt I do not think I will ever return for a 3rd sorry to say
First time here and only time!! I wanted to try out other restaurants in the same chain like the new masons but this experience has put me off. 1hr 10 minutes I had to wait for food after having to ask twice where it was and there was a maximum of 10 people eating in the whole place, my food was forgotten about due to an apparent technical issue when the other two people we were with that ordered 30 seconds before had got their food?... and when it did come the chips were still partially frozen. Food other than the chips was nice but sadly spoilt by the lack of communication and slow service. had to be in Tamworth for 6.30 Booked meal for 5pm thinking that would leave plenty of time but didn’t end up leaving until 7pm! Also after buying three cokes happened to glance at the menu and see they were bottomless which hadnt been mentioned at any point even tho the same person served us each time knowing what we had drank. so £9 spent on coke when should of only been 3. Lovely setting inside and out but massively let down by the service.
I was a bit disappointed in the menu choices after looking at the Mere Green menu I thought that the Tamworth menu didn't have as much choice. Also the bar person that served us with the black hair just looked miserable and I felt quite offended by the way she was looking at me, she had an attitude whilst serving me.
We waited over an hour for our meal it was burnt when it arrived, the restaurant was quiet and there was no reason for us to be waiting so long for the food. I ordered the kebabs and the lamb was bone dry, I won’t be dining here again
It was our first visit to your establishment as we have recently moved to the area. Unfortunately I was slightly disappointed as we booked a table for 6pm and it was 7:30 before our food arrived and this was after we had asked several times. When food arrived it was ok but the rice was over cooked. We then ordered desserts which I have to say were very nice but the first three on our table had been finished before we had even received the last two. It has slightly put us off eating here again due to the excessively long wait for the food but if this could be worked on we may reconsider.
Very slow service but was worth the wait in the end
My first time coming to the Funky Bear. We arrived on Father’s Day and I’ve got to say the service is the worst I’ve had. It took 20 minutes for someone to serve me a drink at the bar. Bearing in mind I was the only person there and staff were just not serving me even though they were there. There was no eye contact from them or anyone to say “someone will be with you shortly”. After finally getting drinks we were shown to the table. We ordered food at the bar (there was 7 of us), and ordered a child’s meal to come out with two of the starters. After 50 minutes the small Mac and cheese and olives came out with no child’s dinner. Rather than complaining I thought we’d just wait until everyone’s dinner had came out. But then 20 minutes after the starters arrived they brought another Mac and cheese and olives! I told them we’d already had these starters and that we were waiting on the main meals and child’s meal. A further 30 minutes later (1 hour 40 after we arrived) our mains started finally arriving, but not together literally like 1 dish in between another. Once they finished serving the mains there was still no child’s dinner!!! So had to once again ask for this (it was chicken nuggets, chips and beans). The server went away and came back and said the child’s meal won’t be long. Then 20 minutes later the child’s meal came out but with no beans!! I asked where the beans were and the server stated that they didn’t do beans, for me to show them on the menu that the menu states beans. The server went and checked with another person and yes they did do beans so had to wait another 10 minutes for the beans to arrive. They did give us puddings free of charge but in my opinion the whole meal should have been. £160 for just mains and a few drinks was a very steep price for the experience we had. Not to mention that every person we came across in the restaurant was complaining! The atmosphere was terrible!! There was dead flies in the window where we were sat (conservatory), the toilets had no toilet roll and the tables around us hadn’t been cleared of plates from customers leaving. It wasn’t even busy!! Such a shame as such a nice place to look at and would be a gold mine if the cleanliness and service was up to par. Just feel very let down and embarrassed that I booked this restaurant for father’s day!!
Went for fathers day was the worst experience. Took 10 minutes to be seated even though we booked got told they would bring us menus they didnt we had to go and search for some ordered our drinks at the bar a tap water and a cider which took 15 minutes to come. Ordered our food at the bar the kabab which was meant to come with chips or rice and a flat bread and salad didn't come with chips or salad went to ask to be told you have to order them SEPARATELY!!! My other half had the surf an turf buger meal that come out with no coleslaw and which was meant to be with HOMEMADE chips but they was just frozen. Paying £17 for frozen chips and 2 bits of chicken. Waiting an hour for our food the tables around us were filthy staff just standing around never got asked once how are meals were or if we needed anything they walk of so fast that you don't even have time to ask for anything. No wonder you pay for your meal before hand else we would of just walked out. Im going out for a meal don't want to be sat around filth for an hour. HORRIBLE PLACE. Such a shame. Would never go again.
Father’s Day meal disaster. Put my daughter in a high chair, and I honestly havet no seen a filthier highchair in my life! I wiped it when a baby wipe and it came out black. I made sure my daughter was sitting on napkins because it’s just so unhygienic and disgusting. Stater came, we told the waitress the food was wrong, she told us that it wasn’t-and was in fact what we ordered. We just agreed, then around ten minutes later our actual order was served to us. No apology given. Main meal took an hour to be served, the restaurant wasn’t busy at all so there was so reason for it to be so late. Again, no apology given. The table next to us had to wait even longer. The female manager they spoke to about it was completely rude and obnoxious. Made us feel very awkward and uncomfortable, especially as we were out as a family trying to enjoy my partners first father’s day. Really not acceptable, very poor food, extremely poor atmosphere, terrible customer service and the attitude of the staff working there is abysmal. We will not be returning back to this establishment, that’s for certain!!!!!!
Food took a long time to arrive (45mins) despite the restaurant being quite empty. The roast dinner is expensive for the sparse amount of food and the vegetables looked like they were from a frozen bag. We had to sit and listen to other diners complain because of the length of time it was taking to serve them food which had a negative effect on the atmosphere which was meant to be and nice chilled for Father’s Day. We couldn’t order and pay for our desserts with our main meal in case it caused confusion within the kitchen, as surprise surprise I didn’t want my dessert coming out the same time as my main meal. In the end we didn’t bother ordering a dessert as it may have taken another 45 mins so called in Morrisons on the way home and bought our own dessert from there.
The food was nice and all the staff that we dealt with were really friendly and professional. Unfortunately I would never come here again or recommend this to a friend as the wait for both our starters and mains was so long. Especially on the starters which were just two soups and a nachos, it took over 45 mins to come out!
