About The Funky Bear Tamworth
Quirky yet slick, blending classic with the modern.Bringing Gastro delights made from fresh ingredients.
Waited 40 minuets for food and that was just the starters. We had the tandori slate, lamb was tough as old boots, and the wings should state they are a hot wing. We also had the nachos, but came with no guacamole. Couldn’t be bothered to complain at this point, we were all so hungry. We then continued to wait another 20 minuets for main food. Which was okay. Me and my daughter had a large glass of white zinfandel which was room temperature. I’ve never seen so many staff so can’t understand why there’s such a long wait. It wasn’t overly busy and the majority of staff just seem to be standing around waiting for something to do. This was our second visit (trying to give them a chance as the first visit was just after they opened and disastrous) but won’t be returning.
Small limited menu Did not offer any meals which there on the website( example the burgers) only offered a basic beef burger Very disappointed
Food very average
Seems to be you care about more about presentation than quality. The children’s pizzas were awful so were their garlic bread starters! Food served was cold. Even the table opposite were complaining. Staff were afraid to crack a smile. Will definitely not be revisiting.
Too long wait for substandard food. The beef was tough, small pieces and the burrito Yorkshire was a crepe. Smokers area was outside the open window next to our table. The restaurant was half empty but the food still seemed to take far too long. Service was lacking focus, care and attention to the customers wants and needs. Miserable and cold attitude from all staff. Left feeling very disappointed and dissatisfied
Food is way overpriced and the staff are so rude! Takes about an hour for your food to come out!
Really great food, great value for money and really fast service. However some waitresses were more efficient than others - one brunette girl I’d say late 20’s was excellent with us!! - I would say tables are far too close together, felt like I was sat on a table with other people.
Size of portions was not value for money! Felt staff were hovering for you to leave ASAP. Didn’t get asked regular if wanted drinks had to keep asking to order. Over charged for drinks didn’t have had to complain. Restruant wasn’t very busy and waited an hour between starter and main
Shocking service waited 45min for a drink table was dirty had to ask for it to be cleaned food was tasteless We will not be returning
First visit and very pleased! Great food and lovely place
Staff were lovely, food was great, service was very good. Would definitely return
After a sponsored advert on Instagram popped up I’d been wanting to try the Funky Bear for a while. So for tonight (11/08/18) I’d planned a date for me and my partner, as I’m not from Tamworth and it was a 40 minute drive, we’d booked a table for 19.30 and we were on time and sat in our seat for the reservation, a waitress came over straight away and asked for the drinks order, we ordered, 20 minutes had gone by and no sign of our drinks, the waitress was still about as she’d taken an order on a new table of guests that had just sat down behind us, she’d got their drinks and there food order had already been placed, 30 minutes and still no sign of our drinks, 40 minutes still no drinks, at 20.15 (45 minutes later) waitress re appears and asks us if we would like to order any drinks, we said we are still waiting for the ones from 45 minutes ago. She said she didn’t remember taking an order, we explained what we had ordered first and told her we would like to leave and made an exit. It’s a shame because the food looked lovely from what we could see but I’ve never had to leave a restaurant in that way or ever had an experience like it. I won’t be recommending it to anyone
Poor service but the food was fair
Food very average, service very slow considering the restaurant was empty
Great food and service , will return , brilliant to have this sort of pub close by
Nice decor and a good choice of food on the menu but overpriced for the quality. There were 4 of us dining and it was a Monday afternoon so not very busy at all. 3 of us had different chicken dishes but the chicken was over cooked and chewy, rice was also over cooked so probably will not visit again.
Ok pub food but not special. Could have been a Harvester.
Nice meal would come again.
Quite an extensive menu, although slightly more than I usually pay. Food was delicious. Waiting staff were attentive. We were sat in the conservatory which was very warm and perhaps we could have done with some fans there given the hot weather. But will definitely return because overall the experience was lovely.
This was our 2nd visit the service staff were so much better this time a lot more personal and happy to talk to the food as always was great loved the black and blue burger still takes an age to get a drink at bar will defo be back keep improving
Lovely food both times. No problem with service or wait times. Would definitely go back again.
Fab food, great atmosphere
Lovely food but wouldn’t go back in a hurry
The food was quite pricey for what we received and differed greatly from pics advertised on Facebook. Dessert was extremely disappointing. Nearly £8 for the choc sphere, the hot sauce jug had been put next to sphere on plate so already melted by time it got to the table, brownie was size of a dice and strawberries turned out to be a syrup. Was a birthday meal so just felt a bit disappointed with the overall experience.
20 minute wait for a drink. 40 minute wait for a starter. We left after waiting 90 minutes for our main meal. Appauling service. i have never left a restraunt before having never eaten, but as we were one of several tables that got up and left then that is all that needs to be said.
