About The Funky Bear Tamworth
Quirky yet slick, blending classic with the modern.Bringing Gastro delights made from fresh ingredients.
Lots of food unavailable
Service was exceptionally slow. Even to order and receive drinks took along time when there was only 4 other occupied tables in the restaurant. Waited almost an hour for food
The food was incredible as always, the male Manager on duty was also very good however a couple of the waitresses didn't seem to be doing much work and kept us waiting at the bar a little. We have been here before and experienced significant delays however we found no issues this time round and really enjoyed our experience.
Food was lovely quality. We ordered the hungry bear burger and Frisbee to share. Was a little disappointed with burgers. Just a oven cooked piece of chicken and no sauces/cheese etc. The burgers let it down. But they still tasted good. Great value for money. Will definately come again.
Midweek Deals very good, recommend the kebab skewers!
Food was amazing. I've been here a few times and never had a bad meal, although service has often been quite slow. This time the service was much quicker, the order of a second drink at the table was forgotten but the staff were very apologetic when this was raised and promptly got another. A table of 8 all enjoyed their meals. Will definitely return again soon. Thank you Funky Bear Tamworth!
Nice food and friendly staff.
We went to the Funky Bear on Saturday afternoon for a belated mother’s day lunch. We had the bottomless lunch deal, the food was fab, drinks constantly flowing and the service was excellent. We would highly recommend this experience:)
Lovely food very filling, we had the big bear sharer good value for money. The macaroni cheese I'll be honest I expected to be in a creamy saw not just topped with cheese. Absolutely amazing cocktails. And the kebabs looked fantastic and presented so well. Service considering it didn't seem that busy was slow from having the dessert menu it took someone half hr to come an ask if we wanted anything. We ordered drinks with one person and asked 20mins later where they were to be told they hadn't been added on but they had now and would be over soon. But over all a lovely place.
Most of our meal was sent back, ribs were tough, burger was not nice, garlic bread tasted strange and children's meal after ordering fish and brought chicken was dry as a bone. Whilst there others were sending their meals back. The staff were polite and helpful so and is reflected in the review. Also lots of things off the menu which was disappointing. Our visit here ruined a birthday meal and we will not return.
Waitress was lovely and food was beautiful but portions could be abit bigger for the price :) 10/10
Very nice friendly staff although alittle disorganised and only staff in uniform was the young girls, the guys however looked like they were helping out My starter of calamari was served on what looked like a side plate with mayo and no garnish and did not taste very nice but the Mrs start of mushrooms was served on a nice plate and tasted good. Both mains were very nice The pudding dry and tasteless Not complaining though as it was £20 for two course which I would have paid that just for the steak. Just feel a few tweets would make it a lot better and a better choice or wine. Two sauv blanc wines on the menu which should really have different wines so more choice and a dry rose would be good. :) Hope you take this as constructive criticism, id like to return one day as I do like the venue.
Had seen great pictures of the food here so thought travelling 50 minutes would be worth the wait for a Mother’s Day treat with my mum and 1 year old daughter. We waited 90 minutes for our main. It was cold, bland, didn’t live up to the pictures they advertise. There were a lot of other customers complaining of similar issues. We complained to the owner and she wasn’t interested, said she would give us a voucher next time but told her we wouldn’t be returning again. Awful service and mediocre food, I’d get better at Weatherspoons ☹️
Unfortunately we had a poor experience waited90 mins for our table. We were then shown to a table that was too small. 4 small tables pushed Together in the conservatory.. we then waited approx 30 mins for our starter.. starters were poor quality.. main meals were poor ... salmon was ordered off Mother’s day menu supposed to be with Crab n spring onion croquettes with a white wine sauce.. came with dried up roast potatoes no sauce .. not nice .. steak was ordered medium rare .. came over cooked and burnt on outside... can’t be bothered to write any more needless to say a bad experience won’t be going back
Poor from the beginning, before we even got to our table we were warned by another guest not to bother as they’d had to send all the food back, wish we would have listened! Half of the food from the one set menu they were offfering they didn’t have, i then asked for a halloumi only burger as I don’t eat meat, we had a lengthy wait for food (there was barely anyone there at this point) and then it came out with bacon on. We then ordered something we were told they had, to be told later on they didn’t have it. For pudding when we finally got to this course, again there was hardly anything left. The one thing again we ordered we were then told they had ran out. The deserts that come out then came out with strawberry ice cream (with a blueberry cheesecake) and chocolate ice cream with sticky toffee pudding, because they had run out of vanilla but didn’t think to actually let us know. Just an overall poor experience, the manager came over and took off the £10 as one of us could only have one course due to their lack of selection and then the £2 drinks. Just don’t bother I would suggest.
Pre-booked for Mother’s Day. We were not made aware during booking online or prior to arriving, it was a set menu. We waited 20 minutes to be seated, to find half the menu was unavailable. We decided to leave without ordering, none of the staff appeared bothered. Totally unacceptable, ruined our whole evening and will not be returning under any circumstances, nor could we ever recommend.
We came for mother’s day. Our table was booked for 6.00pm, we were seated at 6.40 which was ok as we were waiting for some more people but we were told our table wasn’t ready asoon as we walked in. Service wasn’t good at all! Table wasn’t laid out fully, we were missing knives, forks and menus. Wasn’t even given a children’s menu even though we had a 7 year old with us. Had to ask for everything, even to order. The restaurant was untidy and no one seemed to be clearing other tables. We couldn’t have most of the starters on the set menu as they didn’t have any left. Only a few missing for the main and didn’t stop round long enough for pudding. 4 of our 7 starters came out and they had eaten them by the time the rest came out. I sent my main back as the chicken wasn’t nice at all but they sorted it very fast. What we did eat was nice but unfortunately we won’t be returning as I can’t understand why the service was so bad when there wasn’t many people in the restaurant. I personally felt gutted as I had been before and had a lovely time so booked it for a treat for my family for mother’s day and we all left felling let down.
You’re an embarrassment to the dining experience!! Utterly, utterly shocking!! We will not be returning and will share our dire experience.
we booked for mother’s day where a £25 deposit was taken. We arrived at 4.05pm for a 4.15pm table. We was seated at 5.45pm and then told there was about 4 things not available from an already reduced mother’s day menu. Very disappointed so we left and got deposit refunded. Won’t be dining here again as we had very slow service at funky bear mere green before so not giving it a third chance.
Service was very poor, it would seem that the funky bear didn't realise how busy a mothering Sunday would be. We waited over 1 hour for our mains and then another 30 mins for desserts. However the food was good and cooked to perfection
Booked for Mother's Day, felt the experience could of been so much better. Food was adequate and service was pretty slow, was there 3 and half hours in total. The set menu was definitely not worth the money, however would like to dine here again at a less busy time to give the benefit of the doubt.
Would not come back here again
Would have put no stars if it let you. Hands down the worst dining experience I have ever had. Unprofessional, poor quality, home printed menus, that you could hardly read. Half the food on the menu was unavailable. No pizzas, most of the steaks, glad I'm not veggie as either the Halloumi or the tofu, or both. The wait for food was OK. Loaded fries weren't cooked, burger was average, southern fried chicken was dry. Will not go near the Funky Bear ever again.
Firstly, we waiting 20 minutes to be sat down at our table (this was pre booked). Then, we was told it would be an hour and half wait for food! We actually decided to leave once we got told how long the wait actually would be. Staff were friendly and honest. (The only decent thing about the place). I will not be returning or recommending my family or friends to dine here.
Terrible service. Waited over an hour for our meals, when they came they were mixed up and we didn’t get all our sauces or flat breads we ordered. Had to then wait 5 minutes watching our food while the waitress got our plates.chicken was very dry and rice had a strange taste. They then over charged us on the bill for our meal by adding an extra meal. Luckily we noticed and they changed it. Will not be returning to this restaurant again.
