About The Funky Bear Tamworth
Quirky yet slick, blending classic with the modern.Bringing Gastro delights made from fresh ingredients.
A gluten free option was advertised on the website, however on the night we were told no gluten free food was available, very difficult to choose a meal that didn't contain gluten. The waitress was very helpful and friendly but the lack of options was disappointing.Probably won't return in a hurry.
We had a long wait for the food , the staff we great and kept us informed and adjusted the bill to compensate for the wait which was appreciated.
The waiting staff are rude and no where to be seen was sat down for 10 minutes before anyone come to take our order as no one explained how it works whether we had to order at the bar or if it was table service. The drinks was brought over after 5 mins and one ended up all over one of our party. The waiter brought over blue roll to clean the table and didn’t offer any to the group member who had it spilt over them. As it had been 5 minutes from ordering we decided to stay to have our meals after spending a while in the toilets using the hand dryer to dry his tshirt. Then waited at the bar an was ignored by several different members of the team whilst trying to get a damp cloth to wipe downs his arms and legs to be offered a cloth from the coffee machine before a different member of staff provided a clean cloth. Food was brought out very bland in flavour reported by all sea bass had bones in found out the hard way by one being swallowed had we been made aware of the sea bass not being deboned we would of gone for something else. No check back was provided waitress clear the table no engagement just running through the steps then quickly disappears. The bill was brought over with one drink took off. Went to speak to the manager as we did not think this was acceptable considering the member of the group was sat in wet shorts through out the meal. To which no apology was given and she said we can do 10% discount to which we asked for the one meal be taken off. The manager then agreed to do this and printed the new bill out with still no apology and a very dismissive attitude as if we had interrupted her day. Over all very disappointed if there was floor staff around or even if they acted a little bit differently to the incident with the orange juice being spilt. That could of made all the difference.
The food was beautiful. Unfortunately, the service was a let down. Had to ask several times for our drinks. We then had to ask for the onion rings that we had ordered with our meal. By the time they came, we had more or less finished eating. We then had dessert, which the waitress brought over, put down in front of us and asked if we wanted cutlery.... no, we’ll eat it with our fingers. Like I said, the food was beautiful, but the service/staff were just not all there. And it wasn’t busy.
I think my not giving you any stars speaks for itself
Our waitress who served on Friday was night was outstanding.. Food was equally as outstanding, and portions were spot on.
Service was slow, food was only warm when presented. Over priced compared to other similar restaurants.
Good food but poor service
Not the best experience we were 10 minutes late for our table which I rang ahead and informed the team of but still had to wait a further 30 minutes for our table after I had to go and ask if it was ready bar staff were ok but not very quick to serve even though we were only ones at the bar table staff were poor apart from a blonde lady who was ok waitress served the food quite poorly and cleared my partners plates away before I had even finished eating and the food really was very average all in all not a great experience and probably will not return quite disappointed unfortunately
We had a lovely time, the waitress’s was so attentive and the food was great. Most importantly the birthday girl had a fab time. Thank you
Food was lovely, staff were very friendly and helpful. Thought the prices were a little bit high. Overall 5* Will be visiting again though.
Food wasn’t to a very high standard and customer started well but soon dipped, with staff milling about and not being attentive to customers
Service and food was beautiful. Only criticism was how close we were to the next tables either side. But apart from that I would go again.
service was poor ,ordered first course which was completely wrong, main course of lamb kleftico was very bland no taste at all and a side portion of veg was extremely overpriced. However the staff were very pleasant and we were not charged for the first course because of the mistake .
Service was poor. Waited a long time for food. The resturant was empty but yet we were seated in a dark corner. Waiters were standing around at the end of the bar. Very unprofessional team. I had higher expectations. The decor is lovely the menu was ok maybe a wider selection of food and a few cheaper options would be reccomended, however the food we ate was good compliments to the cook and the barman who mixed our cocktails did a good job but the atmosphere was poor with unhappy staff giving poor service. We did get a discount which was nice but didn't excuse the lack of awareness in the staff.
it wasnt extremely busy at the time but the service was slow. we were attended to by a number of different waitresses. if service time improved it would be outstanding. food and atmosphere was amazing and will be visiting again for sure.
We were here back in March for my birthday and had a lovely meal with friends and family. We then went to the Centurion Pub for my wife's birthday in April and Mcdonald's on a bad day would have been better. It was awful! We therefore booked the Funky bearagain. Food was excellent, we had 2 prawn cocktail starters and they were delicious, we then had 4 different main dishes (Lamb, Pizza, Lamb kebab and Funky bear Burger) all of us enjoyed the mains. For pudding we had Eton mess and Belgian chocolate cheesecake with marsh mellows. Absolutely devine! For drinks we had Pornstar Martini's. The second round had to go back as it wasn't mixed right. This was quickly rectified The only reason why we dropped a star was the waiting. We don't mind waiting for food if there's a drink in front of us. people rush too much these days and want everything now which leaves no time for family chats. Unfortunately, we ordered another round of drinks then had our pudding order taken. We waited 30 minutes for both despite asking where they were and finally they came . Not a massive problem but a tad too long to wait at an empty table. All in all, it was yet again very nice and we will certainly be going back again.
Food was nice and hot and really enjoyed it but the service was very slow. We felt forgotten about as the waitress took a long time to take our order, and then I had to 're ask for my drink. Could do with a more structured staff and more staff to lift the pressure from the people that or already there
We really enjoyed our visit on Friday night - good atmosphere, good service at the bar and our table, very friendly staff and nice food.
Advise serving staff not to use the phrase “Sorry about that” Be more positive and use terms such as “thank you for waiting” and “we appreciate the feedback”. It creates a better atmosphere when in earshot of other customers and encourages a better response from the customer.
Little mix up on the starter that was corrected very quickly. Apart from that the food was lovely and very well attended service.
Rubbish! Waited ages for food and to be given drinks. Food was so underated the funky dog was horrible - tasted cheap! Also - ran out of burgers. Was such a quiet night for us to be waiting ages for our food and bill. Such a shame. Don’t waste your money.
Service was slow - seated quickly and had drinks order taken. Had food order taken about 10 minutes later, was told drinks were on their way. About another 15 mins later got our drinks, followed almost immediately by starters. Other tables seated after us got drinks before us. When mains arrived didn’t get asked if we wanted sauces or vinegar or anything - food was put down and server walked away without giving us chance to ask. No vinegar, salt or pepper on tables. Chips were quite greasy and a bit undercooked, could have done with being left in a few minutes longer! None of the staff looked they were happy to be there, no smiles, no chat, not much atmosphere.
Service was really slow even though it wasn’t busy also you need to advertise a limited menu available on sundays on your website
