About The Funky Bear Mere Green
75 Seater restaurant with a cosy romantic feel
We had a gorgeous 3 course lunch with unlimited prosecco. The service was great, food delicious and price really good too! I would highly recommend! Thank you!
Second visit after a great experience first time. Pleased to say standards were maintained on a much busier night. We had same waitress as previous visit and she is great, very personable. Lovely place, good food and great service.
Excellent service. Nothing too much trouble. Some of the food came out cold but not a major issue
Me and my 3 girlfriends were all really impressed with the very attentive service throughout and good served quickly. The options around the bottomless prosecco lunch and ensuring our glasses were topped up was great too -:) We’d visited before a few years back for a meal and enjoyed it. It’s was Later in evening so atmosphere was buzzing more than yesterday as the afternoon. Since then I’ve come across some negative reviews so I was a little cautious however my friends and I decided as we enjoyed last time so why should there be a problem this time around and I’m so glad we made the decision to book. We will be visiting again but hopefully with more girlfriends this time 😀
Good food staff helpful and friendly..
Service wasn’t the best and the food was very greasy at a high price
Quality food, excellent service, would definitely recommend
The staff were very polite and welcoming!!nothing is too much hassle!!the food and the cocktails are simply amazing!!!! See ya again soon
Good service. Nice food. Over priced in some aspects and seated closely to other customers.
Lovely staff an good service. We didn’t like the food. Expected better.
Lovely afternoon at the Funky Bear. We had the bottomless brunch and lots of cocktails. Our waitress was very friendly and the food arrived promptly. I had fish and chips , the fish was massive and not a hint of grease.
Great menu but just didn’t deliver: the price and description sell food of a good standard but what is actually served isn’t a good standard. It’s extremely basic. We had a mixture of foods - chicken kebab, served with over cooked microwave rice and a tortilla instead of flat bread. The lamb shank - cooked lovely but the mash was watery and the jus salty. Salmon, grizzler with chorizo/muscles/prawns - served with ‘trio of garlic bread’ which was actually three slices of white baguette toasted and the sauce was overflowing from my bowl and the sauce was so badly over salted that it burned my tongue. This meal couldn’t be eaten. We also had a cheese hot dog which came served with two slices of cheese on. Presentation and quality was shocking for the price- really let down as we were expecting more. Oh and our £10 nachos starter sharer barely fed two people and didn’t come with jalapeños. My salmon meal was free in the end plus 10% off the bill.
Great service by Mel - food enjoyable. Only drawback was after looking at the set menu online finding out that it wasn’t available. Overall tho a pleasant experience
We had a nice evening. I personally felt the staff were very attentive and did everything possible to please members of our party. Unfortunately 2 of our party kept finding faults with their meals/service which I felt were unnecessary complaints. My food was very nice and so were the majority of the other meals. The complaints given were misleading menu... something about having a wrap instead of a flatbread....and cold food. Also the timing between courses. I personally felt the timing was just right but I believe some members of the party are probably more used to preprepared meals like what you get a Wetherspoons so couldn't appreciate the time to converse and enjoy a drink.
Lovely place. I enjoyed my dinner but sadly the other 4 didn’t. Took 2 hours to get served and had to wait 30 mins for menus after being seated. Felt very sorry for the waitresses who were very polite but stressed. Ladies toilets are a death trap, the seats need fixing ASAP I almost fell off twice! Menu had a great selection but I sadly wouldn’t return due to waiting so long for dinner.
Ran out of prosecco on the "bottomless" lunch deal after we only had one glass! The staff did their best and offered us other drinks and then half an hour later mini bottles of prosecco arrived. Martini cocktails were served in champagne flutes! Overall not a great experience. The waitresses were rushing around and run ragged - obviously short staffed. Anya, was brilliant though, as was the rest of her team and did their best to try and rectify the situation. The owner was on site and we called him over to speak to him. I was shocked when he said he wasn't there working and to give any feedback to the manager (Anya) he really didn't seem to care! First and last time visiting. I only gave 5 stars for value for money because we didn't get charged the full price and had free cocktails!
Food was cold. Had to wait 15 minutes before they realised we didn’t have a food menu. Should have complained on the day but restaurant was full and didn’t want to cause a scene.
Under staffed meaning customers were getting up to see if they were getting served
Very slow service on drinks and food delivery. So slow in fact we had to leave minus our children having their deserts. I reported to the waitress that we could no longer have them due to the time taken to serve the previous two courses only for her to bring them out as I was getting up to pay. Only 4 members of waiting staff on for a Saturday early evening service, one of which was the drinks maker behind the small bar.
I was looking forward to taking my friend for lunch here as I haven’t seen her for so long after emigrating to Australia I wanted somewhere quirky with a good atmosphere. It had been marketed really well across social media. It’s wasn't as funky as originally thought. Service was poor , food was over rated. I ordered halloumi and fries. It arrived as a battered block with burnt soggy chips. A glass was dropped by a waitress directly onto and behind my friend it was spilt over my friends jacket, the lady didn’t come over to apologise or offer anything to compensate so its a definitely no return from us
Awful. Never again. Turned up and kept waiting for 5 mins without being acknowledged Was later warned there would be slow service on food. Seemed fair as it was busy Ordered extra portion of chips. Told these would be a bit late as new batch had been put on. These never turned up and were never mentioned again. But of course they were on the bill when we came to pay. Waitress bumped into back of my chair 3 times yet she didn’t say sorry once. Massively massively overpriced. Tiny portions. Average food. Would never return and have told others to avoid
Nice decor and good looking menu. Food took quite a while to come out for both starters and main meals. Food was good, however the price bracket should be leaning towards excelllent. Staff were friendly.
Unfortunately our first visit wasn't a positive experience. The staff were friendly and my husbands cocktails were good. I had a wine for £6.95 which tasted awful and the food wasnt of a high standard and was very overpriced. My husband sent back his burger and I couldnt eat much of mine as they were disgusting - there certainly wasn't much beef in my burger. The staff dealt with it well, taking the meal off our bill. We then received the bill and I had been charged £5 for the lemonade in my wine... This again was taken off the bill when we asked about it. We recieved a further 10% off, however we still ended up paying over £40 for a couple of drinks and a starter (this was OK but didn't set the world alight). After seeing posts on Facebook of the food, we were excited to try this restaurant and we left very disappointed.
booked a table but was not told it was mothers day menu. ordered 3 crispy chicken 1 without the trimmings ie no salad or cheese only to be given 3 without the trimmings ie no salad or cheese but waited a long time so these were just ate as they were.
