About The Funky Bear Mere Green
75 Seater restaurant with a cosy romantic feel
Food i expected of a higher standard, chips were hard (undercooked). Tables were crammed in so felt very close to the table next to us, no privacy to have a convosation as so close. I understand you want to get as many people in as possible but i think could do with a few less tables. Good service from waitresses just took them a long time to come and take our money, sat for a while waiting for someone to take our money to recieve our change. Maybe this was because we were in the corner?
There was a rowdy bunch in the corner that could have been politely told to quiet down particularly as they were shouting and swearing and there were people trying to enjoy they're afternoon. I know it's difficult as you don't want confrontation but was a lil Too much. Overall the food and service was great and will definitely come again!
Terrible service. Food was awful. Certainly not worth £70. Was so looking forward to going and was very disappointed. Won't be going back.
Lovely place, brilliant service. 100% will return with friends.
We didn’t realise that there would be a dj, the music was a bit loud.
Had a lovely evening, food was delicious. Girls that served us were all lovely and pleasant. Would defo return Thank you.
The food was lovely and the atmosphere was very pleasant, the service was average our order wasn’t correct but the waitress was not particularly helpful.
Staff were rude, potions were small considering the cost, no strawberries on dessert (wasn’t told about it and when we asked we were dismissed rudely), my food came out after others on my table had finished their meal, I received my side order before my main and it had gone cold before my main even arrived, we were laughed at when we asked to split the bill between family members
Food and drink was great value for money. However service was slow.
Lovely food, portion size for some meals could be bigger. The staff were attentive and courteous.
Slow service Nice food but over priced Poor waitresses and bar staff forgot orders or took ages to bring drinks etc Nice venue but service let it down and prices need reviewing in order to keep customers
Cocktails were nice but chicken was extremely dry
Food was delicious, service was poor, extremely hectic and took ages for anyone to take our order and we wasn’t soon to our table just told table number and was left to find it ourselves. Staff were in the toilet on their phone when we used the rest room. But can not fault the food as it was amazing, will definitely come back just maybe at a less busy day and time.
I arrived at the mere green branch at 7.28 for my 7.30 booking for our table to not be ready. Didn’t mind too much about that, it’s just been added to the list of bad things that happened. We ordered relatively quickly and our starter of dip and breads came very quickly. We then had to wait 55 minutes for mains, which only came because we complained about the time we’d been waiting. We weren’t asked and never got the chance to ask for condiments and we weren’t asked if the food was ok throughout the whole meal and to be honest, mine wasn’t. My chips tasted re-fried and just not fresh. Nobody came and asked if we wanted another drink either. We’d only had one and been waiting an hour for food and eaten our food in this time. Two of our party of 4 had pudding. The Eton mess was basically cream with a quarter of a meringue crushed. I went to the toilet before we left and 2 out of 3 of the cubicles had no toilet roll. Sooooo, all in all, it wasn’t a great experience and they are all things that can easily be improved, hence why I’m telling you.
Food was ok, service was very average! One waitress stood out, and seemed to be the only one that cared about her job and looking after guests.
Saturday night was very load u couldn’t think and the table service was very poor waited ages to get a drink after being seated and the waited even longer for the desert menu and bill!!! Food was very good just may be under staffed?
Great service and superb food, will definitely come back again
The restaurant it’s self is lovely however the food is not the best. The hanging kebabs were greasy the funky rice is plain and tasteless. Our drinks were sat at the bar for 15 mins before we had them delivered to our table. The waitress forgot to bring us the dessert menu and there was a terrible smell. When I brought the smell to the attention of a member of staff they said it could be the lamb, this worried me slightly as 2 of us had had the lamb kebabs. I personally didn’t find it value for money there are places around that have similar meals available which are far cheaper and much more pleasant. I’m not likely to recommend this to friends and family and not likely to return.
Service was excellent! Starter and pudding were lovely. Steak was over cooked to choice and thin but still tasted nice but have had better ... would visit again.
Service shocking, food underwhelming, will not rush back
We wont be returning. My chicken kebab was so dry and shrivelled up it was barely edible. My colleagues belly pork was so hard she couldn't get a fork through it. The cabbage/green beans were an absolute disgrace for £3.95. Total rip off and did not live up to the hype. I didn't complain on the night as I had a colleague with me and it was embarrassing as I'd suggested the place - I fully intended to write in or comment on the facebook page until this email arrived. The staff were ok apart from attempting to take a drink that I hadn't finished. The large table behind us were really noisy which I know is beyond your control. Over-all it was really disappointing and we wont be returning.
lack of professionalism bad service we waited an hour for someone to come to the order, after that time we went to order ourselves and there were not many people, there were 4 tables for the whole place I don't recommend
i ordered a burrito and it said that it came with gravy so i asked the waitress if she could explain why and she couldn't speak very good English and convinced me that it would be ok so i was surprised that when it turned up it was more like a Sunday dinner basically it was a large Yorkshire pudding with diced chicken and two veg wrapped up like a burrito with a couple of roast potatoes on the side which i found disappointing as i was expecting a burrito, if this would have been explained to me when i asked then i would have chosen something else
We went late on a Sunday, so too quiet for an atmosphere, but we were impressed with the food
