About The Fostons Ash
Foston's Ash is perfectly situated between Cheltenham, Gloucester, Cirencester and Stroud. This is a great venue, in the heart of the Cotswold Hills and Cider With Rosie country, to meet up with loved ones, especially in the summer months when our gorgeous family garden really comes to life.
Firstly my my name is Gethin Jones. This is the second time I have eaten at F A and the food has risen from good to excellent. I was with a motor club party of over 30 enthusiasts and the food was served quickly and efficiently. the atmosphere was jolly and the staff enthusiastic. I will eat here again..
Lovely service by the two girls;attentive and friendly, just right. Ate outside which was great. The four pub bores (customers) inside were amusing :>) Cut glass accents with broken glass opinions.
Lovely meal and excellent service. Menu is not extensive but both dishes I ordered were delicious.
Myself & my husband enjoyed a meal at the Fostons Ash Thursday 4th April 2019 which happened to be a steak night. I had ribeye which was cooked to perfection, hubby had fillet steak again beautifully cooked. The staff were friendly & efficient, I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for really good home cooked food & value for money.
Lovely mothers day meal. The roast beef in particular was delicious!
Very restricted menu,A long wait to receive food.and the price for roast beef was very expensive.
Great pies on a Monday
Service was a bit slow and ad hoc. Lovely staff but it didn’t seem very organised and it wasn’t as if it was busy. Water glasses on the table were left over from lunch time service and still had water in them. Steaks were delicious but please please please stop serving them on old wooden boards - the steaks were stone cold within 5 minutes.
Fantastic. Thank you. Get there for pie night. Off the charts!
We took a large group there on a Thursday which coincided with their steak night and we were not disappointed. Everything about the meal was great, so we will definitely be returning.
Excellent lunch. Friendly and attentive service.
We caught them on a bad day with one chef off sick so a long wait for food that was bland and undercooked when it arrived, not to mention the tiniest whole plaice ever seen . The waiters were very friendly and apologetic but couldn't really make up for the rest of it.
Can’t believe you sent me this email asking for feedback. Just shows you have known clue on how your business is running. Left your pub without food a very unhappy. I would make a start on addressing your training of front of house staff. None of looked old enough to hold a license to run a bar.
Lovely night for use both ,thank you x
Really lovely pub. The food was great, beautiful fires on and the staff were very nice and helpful.
Front of house staff are wonderfully attentive and cannot help enough. Food is always excellent. 'POLO' GIN is now one of my favourites.Would be nice to see Hillclimb real ale available. Last night was very enjoyable and it will be a regular haunt for us to walk to with our dogs
Came for birthday lunch with family. Nice atmosphere and attentive service. Unfortunately food arrived very late and was poor quality with cold plates, undercooked roast potatoes and soggy veg. Would not recommend without major improvement in kitchen.
Sorry to leave such a poor review. I don’t want to share it on trip advisor as I didn’t feel it was fair as you’re just starting out. The service was great and you’ve created a lovely vibe but the food was just really disappointing. My carrot soup was served with brioche (which felt a bit like a last ditch attempt to serve the soup with something) - it was quite overpriced (I’ve paid similar at more expensive restaurants). My husband’s veggie fish and chips were also underwhelming - the salad served on the plate was past it, and some of the chips tasted quite odd. I am sure the pub has lots of potential and you’ve created a lovely atmosphere and drinks menu was fab but the food really let everything down. I’d carefully researched before coming to your pub so was really quite disappointed. If you can up the quality of food, it would be all round 4 stars
Really slow service and when it did arrive, very underwhelming. The salad accompaniment consisted of half a grilled tomato and half a grilled lettuce which had been burnt on the griddle so much all you could taste was carbon. Half of the other meals accompaniments had also been forgotten. The atmosphere and decor is nice, they just need to improve the quality of the food served and make the service slightly quicker.
Been twice and each time felt as though we were intruding on a private party, the first time was a steak night, food and drink were wonderful. The second time I brought family for pre Christmas get together having booked via website. Staff seemed surprised to see us and they let us know that a special party were coming, could we hurry up, that sort of attitude throughout the meal. Not enough decent dining chairs, Peter Kay Christmas type seating. Hope they treat the chef better than customers.
Considering how many diners, the staff got food out hot and timeously, and tolerated a crowd of people who could not remember what they had ordered!! They did so well and were so considerate!
Brilliant evening.Will be back.
Excellent meal at a lovely venue. Definitely worth a visit.
A very good meal experience. Starters were a bit slow arriving. Staff are attentive, polite and helpful. We will return
Generally good food
