About The Folly
The Folly restaurant occupies a unique riverside position in the heart of Oxford. Our restaurant provides simply served, excellently cooked dishes crafted from the freshest seasonal ingredients.
The restaurant's terrace floats on the waters of the River Thames as she runs gently under Folly Bridge. Inside we give a warm welcome throughout the year and offer relaxed drinks and dining from Sunday lunch to Saturday cocktails and everything in between.
Afternoon Tea is served weekends only from 12.00 - 16.30
Great afternoon tea. Well worth the money. Great venue by the side of the Thames
Extremt trevlig restaurang med väldigt bra mat.
Lovely setting next to the restaurant, good selection of food and very tasty, nice friendly servers
We had an afternoon tea as a birthday treat for my wife. Great riverside location (only a few yards from where my wife was born), pleasant tea and friendly staff
Fabulous - all those very positive reviews are absolutely spot on! Loved the setting, delighted with the service and the food was delicious (generous servings too!). So pleased we trusted the reviews and chose The Folly for our very special family gathering. Memorable!
Had a leisurely and relaxing afternoon tea.
Brilliant food, drink and service. All nicely tied in together with beautiful scenery.
Lovely afternoon tea. Great to be able to sit outside by the river with our dog. Service was excellent.
We absolutely loved being on the pontoon but wished the website had said that the pontoon was dog friendly because we would loved to have brought our spaniel. That is the ONLY criticism that we had! The afternoon tea was amazing - tasted delicious and so pretty! The service was attentive without being intrusive and the atmosphere was lovely. We will definitely be back - with Charlie the dog!
Enjoyed it very much. Note though that on a windy day if customer is sitting outside then food needs to be served piping hot or it cools quickly.
A really lovely setting, with great food and service. A fabulous place for a special celebration
A lovely afternoon tea on a perfect summer’s day. Easy to book, good communication. Prompt and attentive service at an attractive riverside setting.
A tad more jam and cream for the scones would be better, when asked for a little more it was delivered to us very quickly- excellent service.
Had booked weeks ahead for a cream tea at 3pm. Arrived at 2.40pm content to wait. But it took until 3.30pm for us to be seated even though there were plenty of empty tables. No reason was given why we could not sit at an empty table, so we had to wait. Being a diabetic, that was a significant health issue. Why did we have to wait?
Good food, great night.
3rd time we used folly never dissapointed
wonderful afternoon, good weather and lovely location, greatly enjoyed
Very welcoming and relaxing and being situated by the Isis is Ideal
Very nice way to spend a few hours alongside the river.
I organised a team dinner at the Folly for 31 people and every single person thought that food quality and taste was absolutely impeccable. It's one of the best restaurants I tried recently and I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants amazing food at a beautiful waterside location with pleasant jazz as background music. For those who are thinking of organising team dinners at The Folly, please consider the following: service might take slightly longer BUT that's to be expected and accepted when a large team is being served with haute cuisine quality dishes. I have very high standards and was utterly impressed with every dish they served including the presentation. The beef cheek was the most raved about dish from our dinner. The restaurant was hot but the A/C kicked in fairly quickly. The main distraction we had was the strong acoustics of the room which made the event very noisy (as people were trying to overshout each other). However, I am not reducing my star rating because the staff did everything they could to make our stay pleasant and the chef's performance was 5-star+. Thank you for the Folly for such a pleasant dinner experience!
wonderful afternoon tea by the river.freindly staff .
My daughter bought this Afternoon Tea for my birthday so I do not know about Value for Money! However it was all very delicious. A slight quibble: we only had one pot of jam and one pot of clotted cream to share. We noticed that other customers who were alone, had the same amount! Apart from that we had a lovely time.
Superb service, superb Afternoon Tea. A thoroughly enjoyable visit to the Folly
Great location, service is ok
