About The Folly
The Folly restaurant occupies a unique riverside position in the heart of Oxford. Our restaurant provides simply served, excellently cooked dishes crafted from the freshest seasonal ingredients.
The restaurant's terrace floats on the waters of the River Thames as she runs gently under Folly Bridge. Inside we give a warm welcome throughout the year and offer relaxed drinks and dining from Sunday lunch to Saturday cocktails and everything in between.
Afternoon Tea is served weekends only from 12.00 - 16.30
Very attentive staff, great service and lovely food, what more could you ask for. Will definitely be returning.
Fabulous evening made even more special by the cruise beforehand! Atmosphere was wonderful and all enjoyed the evening Thanks very much
I came here to celebrate my graduation with my family. Great evening - the food was excellent, the atmosphere as well and the service was impeccable. I will come back when I am in Oxford next time.
Booked afternoon tea, yesterday as a birthday treat for my wife who is a pastry chef herself, but I was disappointed, the scones were over baked and dry, didn’t seem fresh, shortbread on the millionaire shortbread was almost raw, so that was left lemon tart pastry I couldn’t taste no lemon the pasty was soft not crisp so probably been prepared before and stored in the fridge so it became soft. the moose( strawberry I think,) was watery with little flavour didn’t like, the cut strawberry on top tasted of raw onion so the same knife had been used to prepare other raw food, not pleasant . I think if your going to charge nearly £20 for afternoon tea it needs to be executed better. I’ve had better afternoon teas else where. Sandwiches were ok but slightly dry ,Cucumber sandwiches were soggy so again I think they were prepared in advance. I do have to say the service was good but I think it was a bit of a cheek to charge a service cover charge of £4.99 without being informed. I won’t be returning in a hurry or recommending, shame.
Delicious menu. The lamb was lovely . Enjoyed having wine suggestions With Each course
You looked after my party exceptionally well - thank you! V impressed with vegan menu as well.
My cousin and her husband were visiting oxford for the day and we wanted somewhere quiet to catch up over a good lunch. It was perfect. You never let us down!
Thoroughly enjoyed our tea for 2 delicious
The team were amazing from initial enquiry, through to the day! We had 13 guests and the team were very accommodating. We requested to amend our pre-order menu slightly & this was done with no issue. Food was delicious, much better than expectation!
Food, service, ambiance all were outstanding.
Made my hen do extra special! The boat was wonderful, service amazing and food incredible! Highly recommend
We had a virgin experience voucher for cocktails for x2. Delicious cocktails..... although the drinks could have been bigger and served in more ‘cocktail’ style glasses.
Staff very friendly. Good atmosphere.
We were warmly welcomed from the very first and were able to relax and enjoy the whole evening event. Thabk you to everyone for helping to make thi shappen.
Enjoyed the time at the Folly, as we sat in the window, it would be good if the height of the marquee was lower so that you would get a better view of the river.
Delicious food, great service and lovely location!
We were celebrating our daughters graduation day and wanted be somewhere that captured the essence of oxford, charming, on the river. We had a lovely afternoon. We were warmly greeted on arrival, and touched when tea stand arrived and the plate was decorated with the word congratulations. What a lovely touch. As it was a celebration we decided to add a glass of fizz, and all four arrived with a little viola in each. The food was delicious , and I would definite recommend the Folly to all. I would like to come back and experience tea on one of the river boats moored outside. The staff are lovely.
A totally indulgent afternoon. The staff were wonderful and could not do enough for us. Would do it again in a heartbeat. Thankyou to everyone for making out afternoon so memorable.
Had a really lovely evening!
Very good setting situated along the Thames - overall very nice afternoon tea with pressecco and good service.Would certainly go again.
As a couple we are unable to eat seafood or mayonnaise based products, the waitress kindly went and discussed this with the kitchen who offered to create additional vegan sandwiches for us as part of our afternoon tea. These were DELICIOUS and all flavours I had never tried before. This was incredibly accomodating and made the experience even more enjoyable for us. Also we were given the option of an elderflower presse drink instead of prosecco. This drink is AMAZING and you should advertise that you do it as the alternative for non drinkers as it's a real treat and still feels very special. Thank you very much for a very enjoyable afternoon :)
Beautiful location and the food was superb. The service and staff were equally good. Will definitely want to visit again.
Very nice food in a beautiful setting. A little pricey but worth it for a special occasion.
This was my first visit to the Folly. It was a relaxing dining experience. The only part I was not happy about is we were requested to move from our table during the last part of our meal as the staff needed the table for other guests.
First pot of tea was not really hot enough, had to ask for a hotter top up.
