About The Folly
The Folly restaurant occupies a unique riverside position in the heart of Oxford. Our restaurant provides simply served, excellently cooked dishes crafted from the freshest seasonal ingredients.
The restaurant's terrace floats on the waters of the River Thames as she runs gently under Folly Bridge. Inside we give a warm welcome throughout the year and offer relaxed drinks and dining from Sunday lunch to Saturday cocktails and everything in between.
Afternoon Tea is served weekends only from 12.00 - 16.30
Food and drink was excellent and service very friendly. They made organising dinner for a large group easy. The lighting could have made it a little more atmospheric!
Lovely setting even on a cold wintry day. Warm greeting on arrival. Great table with lovely view over river. Excellent food for afternoon tea, great choice including a vegetarian option. Very attentive staff making it a lovely afternoon. Will definitely return.
My wife and I had a lovely time at The Folly! We'd definitely recommend the afternoon tea and the service was great. Thank you very much!
We were there on a busy Saturday night. The staff were all lovely but service a bit slower than the last time I visited. It was a birthday celebration for my husband and his first visit. Love the location and would definitely go back
Very lovely experience. Thank you
Me and my mum had afternoon tea and it was one of the best experiences I have had I would highly recommend follys from the moment I walk in till the moment we left
A lovely afternoon,
Food was outstanding, my husband said the dessert was the best he’s ever tasted, food and service were amazing, the house red wine was excellent. Very much hope to return one day if ever near Oxford.
Fab fab place. French waiter was so good explaining about everything we needed to know not only about the food but the river and oxford very funny too. All the staff were superb. Food was amazing lots of lovely mussels to start. We loved it in the winter so will definitely going back in the summer for a boat ride. 10/10 for your wonderful staff and chef 👍
Fantastic from the moment we walked through the door to the moment we left. Everything from the friendliness of the whole team, to the amazing food was 5 star. In our party were some very picky eaters but even they loved the food. I can't believe we haven't eaten here before, but we will definitely be coming back. Thank you to everyone at The Folly for making my birthday celebration so memorable xx
Great evening and meal.
Everything was fabulous. Just a little bit expensive. And the service charges were quite high... 12.5 procs.
The food was excellent and I had nothing to be unhappy about the service. Abit dissappointing that we couldnt get a window sear, but overall a lovely experience.
Waiting staff were extremely attentive. Food was superb. Cocktails were lovely. Great overall experience too.
Since we pre-booked, it would have been nice to be allocated a table by the river for a better atmosphere. For a reeeeally special tea, it would have been nice to have pretty cups and plates, a tablecloth and maybe a silver teapot! Without those, the tea was pleasant but it didn't feel out of the ordinary.
Really tasty food, faultless service and quirky interior.
Can’t wait to go back! Lovely staff and amazing food
Excellent food & service. Highly recommended
It was the perfect way to spend a wintery afternoon. The afternoon tea was lovely and the staff so friendly and accommodating. We had a table in the window overlooking the river, which made it all the more special. It was definitely the highlight of our weekend in Oxford.
Lovely meal. Waiter Marius was amazing and gave us some great recommendations.
It was a little bit cold in the restaurant but this did not spoil our evening
Attentive service, very delicious food in a cosy environment. Lighting could be a touch brighter but this is subjective.
The Folly is my favourite restaurant in Oxford. The riverside location is lovely. I ordered the fish catch of the day which was really good, with a nice glass of sauvignon blanc.
I booked the Folly with a Virgin Experience voucher. 3 course meal with a glass of wine included. I found the atmosphere, lighting etc. really relaxing. The service was excellent. Efficient from the start. All 3 courses were delicious. The Arancini starter (sun dried tomatoes , mozzarella, black garlic mayo encased in a bread crumbed ball was a surprise, and lovely. My only negative was that extra payment was added to certain menu choices, and the service charge was a little high. I would definitely return, and recommend
