About The Fishbourne
The Fishbourne is located in a picturesque and wooded enclave between the main towns of Ryde and Newport on the Isle of Wight. Situated close to the Wightlink Fishbourne to Portsmouth ferry terminal this makes us the ideal entry point to the Island to experience our quality dining and five beautifully appointed en-suite rooms.
A very pleasant experience. Sitting in the garden with a glass of wine and some good food what's not to like!
Great setting....good service & food ok. Helpings not as generous as ‘The Boathouse’ in Seaview. I asked for some bread to go with starter but wa stood they only had baguettes for sandwiches.
Brilliant anniversary meal
Best roast dinner soo tasty/I don’t like my meat red - cooked my beef with no red and was perfect and soo tasty 👅 don’t want to brag too much as might find it difficult to book again 😁 staff also very attentive x
Lovely food and beer and staff were fantastic and welcoming
Only had 4 tables when we ate but the food took nearly an hour to come.garlic bread was a disappointment (1 baguette cut into 4 pieces £9,00 I had the duck, certainly were not boulangere potatoes and duck was overcooked and dry and not enough sauce. my daughter had the sea bass, requested no avocado puree or tomatoes so was given plain veg instead no sauce or butter just an over cooked piece of fish. my partner had the burger, chips were way over cooked and over salted. We had a birthday cake for my daughter so no desserts, was offered ice cream to go with it and you charged £4.50 for 2 scoops!!! really
Beautiful full English breakfast
Great to have the choice of portion sizes for large or small appetites.
They were really busy with only one chef but the food was great and so was the service.
Lovely outdoor seating area with heaters, friendly service and felt very safe.
Food was amazing and staff were very friendly felt very safe during covid
Food was served with missing items
Very enjoyable experience, waiting staff attentive, nice range of menu options, Dodd very tasty and above ‘pub grub’, premises tidy and very clean, excellent attention to social distancing (felt very at ease)
Food was ok, steak a little overcooked and not many healthy options to choose from. We arrived at 7pm, but by the time we enquired about dessert we were told that the kitchen closed at 8pm! It would be helpful to notify guests about this when they arrive. Very glad it wasn’t raining as the sail wouldn’t have kept us dry outside!
They do the best gluten free fish & chips than any other restaurant I have tried.
Amazing food and lovely service. Cannot fault anything.
I thought the food was very average and very expensive for what we received. We visited last summer in between lockdowns and the food was better and better value. We where very disappointed. I actually felt ripped off . The burger was dry and to receive no side salad with other than a small pot of coleslaw I thought was not good enough. 7 of us dined and none of us were impressed. My other family members where visiting and by sheer coincidence ate at the pub on Monday too snd were not impressed either . Very expensive very ordinary and no flair . Blacksmiths arms or the reef are our normal choices
Being a visitor isle of wight it took a lot of reseach to find a reputable place to dine. This was a HUGE dissapointment.First impression of customer service was appauling. I ring the bell for servie, 20 minutes later still waiting, press again, service arrives with a rude remark "It is annoying when you keep pressing the service button" if I knew where else to go I would have left immediatly. Patio heating, what a joke, it covers the few middle tables only, we froze. The food was dry and cold, not to mention the sediment in the wine. Last but not least, at the end of the evening I am told that the waiter told another customer if we dont stop ringing the service bell we will be thrown out. How rude. So no we will never be going back
Would welcome more vegetarian options on the menu (only two on there). We were surprised to see staff hold glasses, as opposed to carry them on a tray due to covid risks. Also disappointed to see the waitress carry our ice cream bowls with her thumbs inside the bowl, again due to covid risks.
Cannot daily our visit to the Fishbourne. Great friendly service and safe covid protocols from start to finish. Full menu choice plus the blackboard -the mini-portions ofmain dishes are a great idea if you fancy something smaller. Well presented food, good portions and really tasty. Lovely gardens and view of the sea a bonus. Will definitely return when I next visit the IOW.
Very organised and friendly
Friendly staff, great service good food 😊
Walked to the Fishbourne from Ryde - a lovely walk - and we were greeted and shown to our table by a friendly waitress who brought us menus and explained the 'button system' for calling someone. A beautiful spot for an evening drink and meal, if only the weather would warm up a bit! Enjoyed our evening - thank you :-)
Nice location but letdown by the food ,mediocre at best.
Lovely food and felt very safe. However didn’t appreciate having to pay £1 for some tap water.
