About The Fat Pheasant
Traditional, pub serving healthy, heartwarming Scottish food.
Thoroughly enjoyed the fish and. Great for a takeaway from Friday to Sunday
Had a lovely meal on Sunday although the Yorkshire puddings were well undercooked and stodgy. The rest of the meal was perfect and the rib roast was particularly delicious. Starters and desserts ware top quality.
Food was really good, very tasty, well presented red, good solid menu, would def go back.
Lovely Sunday roast with excellent service
The food was lovely and way above average. The service was excellent, our waitress - Janet was lovely, friendly and chatty and made the experience all the better. The only slight negative was, that I felt it was quite cool in the area we were sitting and I have experienced this before. Just opposite the main bar. But all in all a delightful experience and we will definitely be back. One of our group said the ganache dessert was the best dessert she has ever tasted. Fish and chips/ venison burgers were deeelish!
We were sat by the fire which was lovely, althought i needed to swap seats with my husband halfway through our meal so that i could sit right beside it. sitting anywhere else i would have been very cold which would have spoiled the experience. I am not normally a cold person. Food was amazing, service was excellent. I will definitely be back and next time i'll be sure to bring a jumper 🙂
Loved the place, the friendly staff so welcoming to our dog
great place will be back soon
Lovely Sunday dinner as usual!
Great service & amazing food. Felt very safe & welcomed.
Charming local pub with friendly, helpful staff (we had 2 young children with us). Good, locally-sourced food.
Excellent food, attentive staff. The atmosphere was as good as it could be in the current restrictive circumstances. The staff were very accommodating and the children thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience! Lovely to have such a good eatery back in the village.
Lovely hosts! Great gluten free options and varied menu! Definitely recommend!
Have been to the Fat Pheasant a few times now , always a friendly welcome and attentive service. Food excellent as usual.
Came for dinner on a Sunday night, table of 2. My husband ordered a beer and I ordered an orange juice as I was driving- the barman said there was no fresh orange juice (!) so I had a fizzy drink instead (which I didn’t really want). The place was empty apart from a couple finishing their dinner and a few people drinking in the bar. This made for quite a strange atmosphere. The menu is very limited to I opted for fish and chips and my husband ordered the venison burger. When ordering I was told that the fish and chips had run out, not sure why I wasn’t told this earlier...I opted for a steak that was twice the price as I didn’t fancy anything else on the menu. The food was fine- my husband enjoyed his burger but said his chips were cold. My steak was cooked as requested and was tasty but very fatty. My chips were hot but the onion rings were very greasy and thin. Despite our better judgement we opted for desert...again a very limited choice. The item I wanted (lemon tart) was off, they’d run out so I had a chocolate and ginger torte which was fine but nothing special. All in all a very disappointing experience. I also thought it was overpriced although it would’ve been cheaper had I been able to get something other than steak. I had been looking forward to trying the restaurant since the new owners took over but we won’t be back in a hurry.
I extremely sorry to hear about your experience. We had an incredibly busy weekend and although we ordered double the food we had the previous weekend, more than double the amount of customers came in. I will investigate your other comments. I think you arrived just after the pub was full hence the food had run out. As the pub has only been open a couple of weeks we are still learning what the demand will be. I hope you will try us again?
Great cosy pub with good value food and good service
Welcoming , warm relaxed atmosphere.
Serving staff were lovely. Food was good but limited menu. Owner a bit overbearing and pushy on the sales front. All in all would return but not on our usual regular basis as feel it's overpriced for this type of establishment.
I feel very bad you think I was trying to sell you stuff, when actually I was just checking you were happy and had everything you needed but will note your comments. Our prices are more expensive than other pubs because we do not freeze or microwave food. We buy food in fresh each morning and it is homemade on the day. At the moment we have a limited menu as we have an agency chef as soon as we find a permanent chef the menu will change. Please keep an eye on Facebook for news
Friendly staff and fantastically fresh food. Can’t wait to go back.
Thank you very much for your lovely review. We look forward to welcoming you again
Lovely wee country pub, with a warm atmosphere, log burner is fabulous. Excellent Venison burger, and freshly made chicken goujons. Staff very friendly
