About The Fat Boar - MOLD
The Fat Boar is an independently owned and run pub and restaurant in Mold, North Wales.
We opened in 2015 after spending months gutting the old pub and creating a new venue which is contemporary, welcoming and somewhere that we hope you will want to spend a lot of time with family and friends. We’ve got delicious food, with a large menu featuring lots of fresh, locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. It seems like everyone says that these days, but the difference is that ours is really good.
When booking, we will require a £10 deposit per person, which is non refundable, but is transferable. see our t&c's for more information
COVID -19 UPDATE - due to the latest regulations, you do need to be living in wales to book. and we will be asking for proof upon entry. thank you for your co operation in advance
Great food great service
Food was delicious, service was very good.
Sunday lunch amazing waitress very helpful all in all a great afternoon
Extremely disappointed with our visit. The food and service was substandard. For example 2 out of the party of 4 had bao buns filled with duck. The duck was so fatty, once the meat had been separated from the fat it wad just a bun. Also there was a really unpleasant smell on the buns. Not nice at all. On at least one occasion we had to chase our drinks order.
10/10 visit. Really enjoyed the food and service and cannot fault a single thing! Can’t wait to rebook
Excellent service. Staff always friendly.
Had another amazing meal and night out last night celebrating my wife’s birthday. Food and service were both amazing! Thankyou once again
Fantastic evening, food wonderful and service excellent
Fantastic food and cocktails.... the staff were so friendly and accommodating. It’s a difficult time at the moment due to Covid restrictions and rules but the staff made it as normal as it could be and were fantastic
Well done on all levels. We were temperature tested on arrival and asked for proof of our address to prove we live in Wales - thought this was great as we are very near to the border with England. As it was lunchtime we only wanted a light bite so we had the sharing platter with sticky sausages and the duck buns. It was huge - but delicious - only slight criticism - there were only 3 chicken wings on a sharing platter for two - everything else was in equal multiples. Friendly atmosphere and great service in what are still difficult times - thank you 😊
Lovely lunch time meal. Excellent choice on the menu - highly recommended
Very enjoyable meal. Excellent service and tasty food. Definitely recommend.
Excellent food as ever. Fillet steak was delicious.
Excellent as always
Food was really good. Service was spot on, friendly and efficient staff.
Fabulous Sunday Dinner, the staff were so friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to go back for another meal
Love this place.. never fails to please
We had a lovely meal, kids menu was great too. Service was brilliant. Would definitely recommend.
Didn’t even get chance to sit down as we were turned away for not having any ID to prove me and my partner lived in Wales. Despite no where else has required this we were told it was “the law”. Having looked through the Welsh website - it doesn’t state they are required to ask for ID for groups of 4 or less which me and my partner were. Fair enough if it is the law but clearly it isn’t and we were lied to. We had it booked for over a week and were really looking forward to it. It should be stated when either booking a table or on their social media outlets. Doesn’t help that the staff member that greeted us was smug, smarmy and took pleasure in turning us away. Won’t be attempted to have a meal here again.
The whole experience was pretty underwhelming. Poor range of starters...menu more like a cafe and takeaway than restaurant. We had to send Steak back as massively undercooked.. not the end of the world but just poor really...and they put a piece of paper on plates. Not sure why they do that...not the end of the world but just disappointing as was the experience generally
The fajitas were great but the 3 people with me had the fish and said the batter was soggy inside and the outside was not crisp the chips were hard inside overall the food was not great
Booked online for 6 for 6.30.Nothing online about seperate households. We thought 4 households could eat together. Phone call in afternoon to say have to have 2 tables of 3. Phone call at 4.45 asking if we’d move to 6pm Instead Of 6.30 Arrived son and girlfriend already there. Their table had menus and cutlery We had to ask for menus Our starter arrived no forks Table was relayed. At this point I realised it hadn’t been cleaned after previous customers. Bill was paid and deposit not deducted. Asked if we wanted the bill (already paid) At 7.45 we were told they wanted table back in 5 minutes. Original booking allowed a 2 hour slot.
Came here to have something different than my standard burger order and was blown away with the food, so tasty and service was excellent too.
Really great service - we were unsure if we were able to tip due to covid/ cash
Excellent food and service
