About The Evenlode
The Evenlode at Eynsham is an iconic landmark pub dating from the 1930s and is located on the A40 between the city of Oxford and the market town of Witney close to the Cotwolds.
The Evenlode has been refurbished and remodelled to the highest standards and will be offering great, freshly-cooked food all-day everyday from 7.30am each morning, serving breakfast and coffee with an option to take-away. A good selection of real ales and fine wines will be available, together with a wide range of other bar products.
If you enjoy outdoor dining, we have two extensive terraces: a very sunny one that hugs the side of the building to beat all the elements, and one with cool shady areas — both seating up to 80 people. We also have a private dining room that seats up to 15 very comfortably, as well as a meeting room for business.
With easy access off the main A40 road and ample parking, The Evenlode makes a perfect destination or stop-off venue. This is a wonderful pub for local village residents and a firm favourite for the nearby populations of Oxford, Witney and surrounding villages.
We very much look forward to welcoming customers, both old and new, to the Evenlode. Please check this website or our Facebook page for further news and offers.
We booked on line which we found easy to do. We arrived early and the reception was very helpful and friendly. We both had the Sunday roast the sizes of the meals were comparable to the amount that we paid. Overall a very nice experience.
An excellent visit yet again, we went out for a couples meal and had mains and deserts which were fantastic. The only improvements we can think of is to revise the drinks menu to include all drinks (not just gin and tonic). And for the server to remember what drinks and specials there are available. All in all, I would give it 4.5/5 - will be visiting again soon.
Nice sandwiches and fries for lunch and good service. Prices reasonable and good venue to meet with friends. Spacious eating area and easy parking.
The steak was very good, however the pasta of the day (Arrabiata) was too hot for both my daughter and son. (Both have live in india for 3 yrs so heat tolerance quite high) Lost ticket for mains meant we were left waiting for mains for almost 30 minutes, then we were left with dessert menus for almost 30 minutes again before anyone came back to take our order for both delays the staff were very apologetic.. for such delays i would have expected at least a small discount off our bill but was not forthcoming. The food was very tasty which was why i still left a £5 tip but disappointed with the waiting.
Lovely venue, great food and particularly lovely staff, especially little Lizzie!! Would definitely recommend and visit again!! 😍🥂
Very nice breakfast!
We received a very warm welcome at 6.45pm mid week. What a fab location! Love that the bubble and squeak and burger are still on the new remodelled menu. Good selection of wine on offer and very competitive kids menu. Patio setting is superb at this time of year too. Love this place.
Excellent service, were able to take our time over the meal and didn't feel rushed. Service, food and the friendliness of the staff made the time we were there made for a really enjoyable afternoon
Very lovely evening thank you, food was delicious I had pie of the day and it was amazing. Service was good but at the beginning felt a bit rushed to order but otherwise good. Had a 30% voucher but was value for money to even without the voucher. Everyone commented on the food and how amazing it was. Overall great evening so thank you and we will be returning.
Typical pub grub with a friendly, effecient staff and a good atmosphere. Large group but food didn't take long to arrive despite it being quite busy.
Lovely service with friendly staff!
Great evening.Only feedback from our party was portions could be a bit larger......
Excellent meal very enjoyable.
Many of the items on the menu were not available. We were told that it had just changed hands 2 weeks ago and they were still sorting out their suppliers. There is a specials chalkboard that the waitress has to bring to your table and hold up for you while you read it. They should just print the specials on a piece of paper and hand it out with the menu. Then the waitress would not have to waste her time holding it up for you and then having to fetch it again when you have forgotten what the soup of the day is. There was also a limited supply of drinks at the bar. Our waitress was very apologetic and she was clearly doing the best she could under the circumstances. The food was ok, nothing special. I would give them some time to get themselves sorted before going back. On a personal note I think pictures of fox hunting with hounds should be removed from the walls as it is now illegal and in my opinion not in good taste. Some people would say it is tradition but then so was bear baiting and burning witches, but we do not need to see pictures of that anymore.
Delicious food and great service
Great meal friendly staff lovely evening
The food was very good. It was very busy and had to wait an hour for our food. Will go there again.
Refurbished a short while ago, lovely decor and spacious
We had a lovely evening with you and all thoroughly enjoyed our dinner in what is a pleasant room with a pleasant atmosphere. Your food is really excellent, especially the roast pork which melts in the mouth. We will certainly visit again when we are next in the area andI know my daughter and her other half plan to visit again very soon. Thank you. I have also reviewed on Tripadvisor.
Visited for the first time with family and thoroughly impressed with all aspects! Decor is great, very friendly and welcoming atmosphere with prompt service. Gentleman that served was incredibly personable and fun. Food was spectacular, huge portions and excellent flavour. Obvious that ingredients are locally sourced and high quality. Would strongly recommend to all!
A big thank you to the chef for presenting our meal so well. It really was delicious, also a very big thank you to Martina, who once again looked after us so well. Looking forward to our next visit.
Great food top roast many thanks
Good food and great service. Portion size of desserts could be a bit bigger though. Would recommend and if in the area would go again!
