This is a cool bar, with good food and drinks let down by being understaffed. The staff are great, helpful and hardworking, there’s just not enough of them.
Amazing food! Delicious! Seemed a little pricey that the bottle of wine still had the price tag on of £5.90 from the wholesalers so thearetically I was paying £24.10 for a sharing platter. I understand that it was valentines day, but I also I pre-booked the meal (the restaurant was very quiet) and hoped for the Goats Cheese Log but was told "I'm not sure if there is any left" so I told her okay if not, I'll have the soup. She didn't come back out and tell me that the cheese log had definitely ran out, I physically watched her write down soup on her note pad and came out with the soup. Customer service to the young girl with the glasses and the nose ring needs re-visiting, but apart from that it was a lovely atmosphere, candlelit and me and my partner had a lovely evening. Thank you for making it special x
Only negatives are we got an email reminder for booking at 13:30 never said what it was for. So was late for room booking as they called up 20mins after booking was due. To be fair we still got the full hour. Game room was very dark and hard to read clues and locks.
Had our daughters birthday here, it was fab, they all loved it! The place itself is lovely & staff are very helpful. Have recommended to my sister in law for my nieces birthday! Also was thinking of coming back but adults only this time!!
Thank you for a wonderful evening, everyone loved it. Staff brilliant, food fab, couldn’t have asked for a better venue.
We had a fantastic time for my sons birthday. Staff very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend and we will be back soon.
We enjoyed a fantastic bottomless lunch with 16 of our friends last Saturday. The two lovely members of staff who served our table couldn’t do enough for us and made sure we all had a great afternoon! Thank you - we will be back!
Very tasty, hot and freshly prepared food. Good selection and great, friendly service. Definitely recommend and will return.
2nd visit in the space of 6 weeks for the bottomless brunch. The young lady that served us was brilliant and couldn’t have been more helpful and attentive. Will definitely be back soon!
Excellent in every way!
Staff shortages left the service particularly at the bar poor
Had a very disappointing experience, lack of availability of menu from milk for drinks to fries, children’s meals and main meals. Felt that the excuse of a busy day wasn’t good enough as after a busy lunch period there would have been time to replenish stock , even if it was the essentials as were aware of booking. Overpriced for the food we did receive, the presentation was good. The young waitress was very good and attentive, felt that this wasn’t the normal standard and have heard positive feedback so hopefully this was just a blip and hopefully doesn’t repeat for others, shame it happened on my family night out though. It was my choice of venues and felt like I wasted mine and my relatives rare opportunity to a meal out together
We had arrived at 3.30pm but didn’t get served until 3.50pm the staff were chatting whilst we was waiting for at least a drink and the place was not busy at all. But other than that it was a lovely brunch.
Really friendly staff, nice place
Love the rooms and atmosphere. Christmas buffet was a little disappointing
My daughter thoroughly enjoyed her party at the Escapologist. The escape room was great and the staff were super lovely and helpful. The food was great and the atmosphere was fab.
The steam punk bar has great atmosphere until the disco ramped up at 8.30. Then we couldn't hear ourselves think and were in the middle of a birthday dinner, we didn't hang about long. The food is limited, heavily battered and fried, overcooked and really not great. Well presented, hot and timely just not hugely great to eat. Disappointing really as the Escape room aspect was such good fun and superbly well organised by Kish. The bar/restaurant service was ok but it was busy so we expected Saturday night speed really. The prices are good, the bar is well stocked and we were looked after. We really Wang to return for more escapes and drinks but unless there is a drastic change won't be eating there again.
We had our daughters 13th bday here. The staff were all so helpful and friendly, felt like nothing was too much trouble. The food looked and tasted beautiful and the whole experience was well worth the money! I would definitely recommend this for adults and young people alike.
Food was delicious. All staff so friendly! Drinks reasonably priced My all round favourite place in town Highly recommend
A brilliant venue and a great experience
Booked for my daughters birthday, we had a lovely evening. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
The look & feel is great, the food came out quick & hot but the only thing that let it down was the table service the staff was nice but no one look after the tables or are table we had to ask to order go to the bar to ask for drinks etc.....
My daughter and her friends had a great time at Escapologist in Selby celebrating her birthday. The World of Wizardary Escape Rooms were great fun and the food was to a good standard. The staff were very attentive and did all they could to make sure everything ran smoothly.
Helpful friendly staff, great atmosphere and good food.
Hi, I wouldn’t usually leave a review but we were really surprised with our meal at the escapologist. First of all, we sat down and after 15 minutes of no service we had to gain someone’s attention to get some menus. Things followed in a similiar pattern, no one ever asked about drinks, worst of all however was even after asking for cultery twice, the cutlery didn’t actually arrive until 5 minutes into starters, whereby obviously we were halfway through. Some of the food was excellent (halloumi sticks and beef salad), however again some of the food was so poor. The peri peri chicken burgers tasted 100% plain and after looking at the, they were literally plain chicken fillets. We did mention this to a manager who offered to change them immediately but after how long we had waited, and considering our other two guests had their food, we didn’t have time to wait any longer. It was obvious there was a large christening taking place and I’m sure the kitchen was busy. But we were out for a birthday meal and at no point did any of the staff ever bother approaching us, it was genuinely bizzare. We were even more surprised that the manager did not take it upon himself to make up for the lack of service after we complained. It should be stated he was super polite and apologetic however!
