About The Elephant Pub & Bakehouse
The Elephant Pub & Bakehouse is open daily serving the best in food, brews, cocktails and coffee – sourced from local people we know and trust
Great food. Soft drinks expensive
The starters were really good; the pate was flavoursome and plenty of it. The hubby loved the spicy sesame chicken so much, he would have preferred it as a main! The scampi batter was lovely and light and the feather blade of beef was delicious (I couldn't eat the jelly!). The mash was a bit disappointing; it could have done with garlic or onion but the carrot was very tasty. I didn't enjoy the kale at all. Another root veg cooked the same as the carrot would have been perfect.
lovely evening with lovely company
Can never fault the food or service here. Been coming the Elephant for 5 years now and never had a bad meal or experience! Keep up the good work x
We loved the food but there was a really unacceptable lengthy wait between ordering and it being served. I fully accept and understand that everything is freshly prepared and cooked but our wait far exceeded what was classed as a normal wait. It was not busy and I think we were either the first or second customers of the day. Our booking was 09.15
Clair served us and was very attentive and friendly. Enjoyed the food but some of the specials were sold out and the chicken curry at 5pm so bit disappointed. Always feel that staff make you feel welcome and have time for you despite them being busy.
Always an enjoyable night out!
Excellent food and service Love the changes to the menu The burgers were amazing!!
Come here quite regularly. Love the place server really nice and attentive without being over the top But bit disappointed with food few things not available No tomato in the slow roast tomato starter! Sea bass nicoise too oily - couldnpour it off the plate Last time we came for daughter in laws graduation and waited over a hour for food Seems to be not as good as used to be - such a shame but will try some of the Christmas events - hope I’ve just been unlucky
We were lucky enough to try the new Autumn Menu promotion. There were 4 of us of which 2 were vegetarians. The food was very nice, and we all enjoyed the 2 courses we had. For starters between us we had the prawn cocktail, garlic mozzarella flat bread and the beetroot & red onion bhaji. The prawn cocktail I had was the nicest I have tasted and there were plenty of prawns. Main meals were grilled aubergine, bacon chop, smoked haddock and meat beyond burger, All delicious. Delicious and tasty food and great service.
We arrived early but were shown to our table, so all good there. Two of the dishes we wanted , slow cooked beef and penang curry were not available, so quickly opted for scampi and both of us disappointed in it ,not what we expected in batter and didn't enjoy it. Having said that it's a new menu and we will be back
Fantastic food and staff-as always. A firm favourite!
Liking the new menu. Tried the roast chicken breast with stuffing balls and a delicious roasted carrot! Delish.
Really enjoyed our lunch more roast potatoes than last time and really well cooked service was excellent too
Lovely lunch and could not fault the food, service and staff. Would absolutely come again
Why have you moved away from the chunky chips, with the fish and chips - big mistake. The two tables next to us also agreed the wedged skins where a poor choice. Please please change back. The fish was superb yet again.
Great food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Perfect place for meeting up with friends and family. Can always count on a high quality service and food.
The included service in the bill is always a concern as to whether the staff do get the tip. Staff did assure us that they do.
I always enjoy going to the elephant. However, one thing I would highlight from the last two occasions I've been in would be that there seems to be some disparity between the main menu and the corresponding allergy advice menu. I have a nut allergy and used guidance from the main menu to see what selection of breakfasts I may be able to order (using the 'N' on the main menu next to the dish which is labelled to show when a dish contains nuts). This only indicated that a couple of the dishes contained nuts however, when the allergy menu was brought out there was only 2 options I could have selected from breakfasts, with several others stating they contained nuts on the allergy menu. If the allergy menu is accurate, the main menu needs to be updated. The team were more than happy to accommodate and put together a safe option however, this may have changed where I chose to go out to eat - due to the limited options. Something similar happened during an evening meal a couple of weeks ago and therefore I felt it should be highlighted.
Return complimentary visit following recent poor visit. Much improved and portions again much improved hopefully not because of our recent observations about this! Desert still a bit on light side compared to other local establishments. Service excellent sure we will return
Very good service Burgers are always good there!
Lovely meal from start to finish xx great service xx
Friendly service every time and top quality food. We always visit during our lunch break from work so it is very handy to be able to pre-order our food given we are a big table and we get it served within 10 mins of sitting down. Top class every time.
My granddaughter and myself both had the butternut squash roast, her was £6.00,and my was £12.95, the only difference was my my nut roast was slightly bigger than her, which I thought was bad. Especially has my was supposed to be a adults meal
The food was delicious as always but we were disappointed to be told there were no pencils for the children to colour in and also no cauliflower cheese, no pigs in blankets and 2 of the desserts were unavailable. On top of that it seemed to take almost an hour for our food to arrive from sitting down at the table. It wouldn’t stop me coming back as we visit The Elephant quite frequently but it wasn’t the best visit.
