About The Eight Bells
For 350 years, the Eight Bells has been at the heart of Jevington, set in the first valley of the South Downs, to the west of Eastbourne. This small, independently owned free house has a rich history, cosy interiors and gardens with dramatic views of the rolling downland.
Everything was lovely. Truffle cauliflower cheese was a revelation. Spot on.
Absolutely fabulous pub! Food outstanding, garden well done for dogs & people, staff really friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend to anyone thinking of having a relaxing lunch with great food :)
Wonderful place. A little hidden gem in the beautiful downs. Friendly staff and owner (who was always on hand to help out his staff)
Great Pub, great staff and service! Nothing like seeing a General Manager on the floor working with his team. Taking the time to talk with every table...top that off the food was great too
As always brilliant
Despite a very busy Sunday afternoon, we had great service from friendly staff. Lovely food and drinks, can't wait to go back!
All staff were very welcoming, friendly and attentive. Food was delicious. Would definitely recommend and will definitely visit again.
The food was amazing, service good and efficient and friendly. Only criticism would be to try and get some cushions as we got square bums sitting on the benches! And the car park was chocka, we had to park quite a way down the road in the car park up by the hungry monk which was a bit of a hairy walk back up to the pub.
Had a great Sunday lunch at The Bells. I had the Hankam roast lamb and my wife had fish and chips. Both were very tasty and portion size was great! I was driving so could only treat myself to one pint of Hophead which had obviously been kept well in the cellar and tasted delicious. Staff were really friendly, although service was a little bit slow, but that’s expected as the garden was rammed and I guess they can’t have too many staff on at once. I’ll definitely be back again! Can’t wait to visit for a cosy pint inside soon. Cheers.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable time and will be returning very soon for the bar and BBQ
Lovely garden.Staff polite and excellent service. Food beautifully served and tasty.10/10
One of the best Sunday roast we’ve had in a long time. Great service and a beautiful view.
Amazing place serving a ridiculously good Sunday roast. The Cauliflower cheese side was definitely a great addition. Would 100% recommend, the garden was lovely and top notch service.
Perfect as always, so lovely to finally have a proper foodie pub so close to us!
The food was amazing and great service too ! 😊
Easy to book a table online; very friendly welcome on arrival; excellent service throughout; beautifully landscaped garden & delicious food!
We had a really lovely time at the Eight Bells. It’s great to have such a wonderful pub nearby.
We enjoyed our lunch in your newly refurbished garden. It was a lovely experience and our food was very good. However prices are a little more expensive, particularly the drinks menu. We also wondered why the very large red umbrellas had been chosen, when it takes several people to lower them. We did appreciate being moved to another table with no umbrella. Thank you.
Excellent meal in nice surroundings in the garden on a sunny day. Quality food.
Everything apart of the delay in our drinks was great. Will definitely go back.
All elements of the 8 bells is superb. The food is imaginative and the flavours are beautifully balanced, the service is outstanding and the physical surroundings are relaxing. The energy and vibrancy to create such an enjoyable place to visit during frequent lockdowns has to be admired. Thank you
We reached the Eight Bells for a well-earned pub lunch after a beautiful walk across the Downs. What a lovely surprise to sit and eat in this wonderful setting overlooking the fields and the Downs. The service was very friendly and efficient. The menu is mouth-watering, the food is full of locally sourced ingredient, cooked tastefully with the knowledge and creativity of the chef. I particularly enjoyed the Terrine starter, while my friend found the local beer light and tasty perfect for lunch. I would highly recommend this pub for those who enjoyed a relaxing atmosphere but have a passion for food, wine, and beer ....
Fantastic food. Highly recommend a visit to this pub.
initially had to wait a while for drinks but the service after was very good, the staff helpful and friendly. The food was very good too - thank you!
