About The Eight Bells
For 350 years, the Eight Bells has been at the heart of Jevington, set in the first valley of the South Downs, to the west of Eastbourne. This small, independently owned free house has a rich history, cosy interiors and gardens with dramatic views of the rolling downland.
This was our first visit to The Eight Bells and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The team was so friendly and happy to help us with any requests. Food was fabulous. We will be returning post lockdown. Thanks, W.
The main meal and service was excellent. Slightly disappointed with dessert which was banoffie pie. Thats because we like lots of caramel and cream with our banoffi.
Stunning meal, and service as always
Immaculate, super-friendly service and delicious, well-presented food. Amazed that everything on the menu was available despite it being the last day before lockdown. Will be back!
Thank you for squeezing us in for lunch. Following a walk over the Downs we were treated to a fantastic lunch by very friendly staff. Such a shame that we will not be able to enjoy such top quality pub grub again at the eight bells until December. Thank goodness for the Friday evening takeaway. Just the ticket for lockdown.
Just exceptional in every regard.
A terrific roast beef Sunday lunch, side of cauliflower cheese and a couple of pints of Harveys. Great service and superbly Covid managed. And thanks for providing a back office space to make a private phone call and accommodating this within our booking time.
Second week in a row and didn’t disappoint! The roast was amazing again and the atmosphere and service were on point. We’ll most likely be ordering a roast during lockdown!!!
It is a complete treat having you almost on our doorstop. We all raves about our delicious lunch. Thank you!!!!
Amazing food. Great atmosphere supported by warm and friendly staff. Outside terrace inviting cosy with a festive feel. We will return for more great food.
The best roast I’ve ever had and always such wonderful service! Thank you.
Finally! A place in Eastbourne that makes me want to come back 👌🏼
We had such a nice meal. Beautifully cooked food and very efficient, attentive staff. Such a lovely setting.
The food was wonderful as were the staff. Outside is ok,warm and pretty but noisy at the early sitting with lots of children running around. Will try for an indoor table next time as my friend who Is hard of hearing found it difficult. The step in to the marquee needs highlighting as both of my party tripped over it. Will visit again after lockdown hopefully thank you.
Brilliant food and service - lovely atmosphere.
Our first visit to the 8 Bells. Only negative was the hard seats without cushions
Excellent food, service and ambience
Thoroughly enjoyed our delicious lunch. The food was amazing. The staff were friendly and respectful of the restrictions.
We would without a doubt, recommend The Eight Bells for excellent food, and most welcoming service. During our weeks holiday in Jevington, we had three meals in the Eight Bells, and each time the food and service was outstanding.
Fantastic food and really friendly, attentive service. Although there was a time limit on the table there was no feeling of being rushed. Definitely will return.
We had a really lovely meal on friday , it is just such a shame that because of Corona Virus, pubs can no longer be the social hub that they used to be. But a lovely evening, well done to Philip & Steve & staff. Ian & Ginny
If you book via another link you may end up in the marquee. Food was amazing, though medium house wine are £7.40 (ish) I thought was quite high. Very attentive staff.
Lovely food, good service. Many thanks!
Although having to adhere to the covid restrictions, the Eight Bells still delivered top service within a fab relaxed atmosphere! The fish & chips were amazing, the burger was huge, the roasted pumpkin sarnie a massive hit but the chocolate & pear ganache ... no words!! Will def be coming back!! Thank you
